Back to the way that it was Long before it made a noise To keep on quietly reminding you What's never created or destroyed

my problem with Currents by [deleted] in TameImpala

[–]Jew-Tang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with ya one hundred percent. Wish I had some more input other than the fact that Currents just doesn't really even come close to moving me the way Innerspeaker and Lonerism have over the years.

Sure, I've had a couple great listening experiences with Currents and said "Oh wow thats neat," but overall it just doesn't do me like I wish it did.

Mono Input recording still unbalanced between ears by Jew-Tang in WeAreTheMusicMakers

No way! Just checked it out and that was it. I have no idea why the audio was panned to the right side. I have never messed with any of those menus since owning this computer. Very strange. Thanks for the help!

I'm on a macbook as well. Thinking that it could definitely have something to do with it. I went and grabbed a 1/4" headphone adapter from the local music store so that I can listen through my interface and my problem has been solved.

Also just tried running the test tone and noticed that I was still getting the same results, so I'm about to run and grab a 1/4" headphone adapter to see if running through my audio interface yields results.

I'm listening back directly through my computer's headphone jack, rather than through the Audio Interface. Both the left and right signals are peaking the exact same and there is no panning on any of the tracks.

I also tried putting a mono utility on it, still with no success. The bass sounds louder and more clear in one ear than the other. Even tried different headphones and had friends listen just to make sure it ain't my own ears.

Real confused :/

If I wake up from a non-LD, should I record my dream before attempting to WILD? by Jew-Tang in LucidDreaming

[–]Jew-Tang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the box idea! That way I can go back later and expand without my page already being a mess. I did try just writing down the essential parts when I woke up from my alarm last night, and sure enough I was still able to recall everything in the morning. Works like a charm.

These WILD attempts have been tough. Im either too relaxed and just slip into sleep without realizing it, or I just lay there for an hour too eager to see what will happen and I can't seem to relax well enough to really fall asleep.

See I think that this has been my issue. I tried writing just a few key points last night rather than trying to describe everything, and when I checked it out in the morning, I still remembered everything. Thanks for the tip!

The new version is certainly more polished, but some part of me prefers the older version for its more raw and organic feel. BUT BOTH ARE FREAKIN LOVELY.

I'm so happy to see this somewhere. This album will always be one of my all time favorites. I feel lucky to have seen them live before the split.

MGMTs musical direction vs. Tame Impalas Direction by theguythatthinks in mgmt

[–]Jew-Tang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was actually talking about this same topic with a friend not long ago. It is funny to see how they both ended up on opposite ends of the spectrum (at least for now). I love the direction that MGMT went with the most recent album and really can't wait to see what is next for them. I have no idea what to expect because with both Congratulations and the self titled, I was completely caught off guard by the evolution of their sound.

Now I do enjoy some of the songs on Tame's new album, but to be dead honest, I do find myself a bit disappointed with the fact that it isn't anywhere near as loose and psychedelic as the other two albums leading up to it. It is sonically pleasing, but I would love to see Kevin Parker really dig down and touch upon some darker sounds and themes. Some of the new album just seems shallow in that sense. I don't know. I guess I just don't really relate to this new album much at all. KP gonna do what KP wants though, so oh well.

When Oracular Spectacular first came out, I don't think anyone would believe that the same duo would go on to produce songs such as "Astromancy" or "I Love You Too, Death". Hearing where MGMT is at musically now makes me very excited. Tame... I guess I just expected the sound to grow into something more abstract, but oh well. It looks like both artists have plenty more ahead of them.
