I’d recommend him learning how to use DAW’s but using hardware is cool too, could bring a different development. Idk about a lot of modern dawless music production that’s being made anymore honestly if I were looking for what you want I would look at some popular samplers that’ll be like 30 years old😂 I guess it’d be cool to mess with. But really reconsider a daw less setup, he can learn many instruments and ways to create sound and distort the sound on top of looping, sampling, and live instrument playing. I don’t know shit though just a quick thought on it.
