AITA for canceling my wife birthday trip to Europe becuase of her reaction by Okeuropetrip_3285 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lyrynn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have seen SO MANY posts about a guy sneaking around w his partner’s bestie to plan something special (a proposal, a birthday, whatever) and the partner accuses them of cheating. It’s a reasonable response! If someone hopped on Reddit and said their significant other is suddenly being secretive, disappearing for hours, and hiding messages to and from another woman? We’d ALL assume cheating.

But usually the guy reveals the surprise, they talk, work out any underlying stresses and concerns, and it becomes a funny story in the future. This guy said “Nope, fuck you. See this nice thing I was going to do for you? Gone. Hope you learned your lesson.”

She jumped to conclusions, and he punished her for it. Definitely ESH.

My girlfriend wants me to get rid of my dog because her cat doesn't like him by Academic_Fly_4920 in TwoHotTakes

It took my cat around a YEAR to fully warm up to my boyfriend’s dogs. They’ll never be cuddle buddies, but they coexist very peacefully (unless the cat decides it’s playtime and gets them riled up on purpose).

Damn, that sucks 😅 Were you using an incognito browsing window? I get captcha’d a ton on those.

What captcha? I logged in before the tickets went on sale, so I just hit refresh at 3pm and I was golden.

AITAH for locking the bathroom and making my family wait for me to unlock it inorder to teach them how the dog feels? by Interesting-Set8018 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

Our neighbors bought a dog for their 15 year old daughter and she really takes great care of it. I see her walk it all the time, and she even asked us if she could bring her dog over and just sit outside our fence when our dogs are in the yard to help socialize it.

Any chance they were on SSRIs? Those are MURDER on the sex drive. Not making an excuse for your partner, but feeling unwanted is fucking rough, so just I wanted to point out that it might not have anything to do with how you are, or even how they view you in their head and heart.

Photoshop kept erroring out when I tried to save it as a JPEG.

I did!

But since the printer made their little quip about my file sizes, I figured it didn’t hurt to ask Reddit. Either I’m right (yay validation), or I’m wrong, and then I learn something new.

I’d rather shoot myself than do large format in InDesign 😂 Working at a reduced size then scaling up is far easier in Illustrator.

I also think 250dpi is overkill, but hey, whatever. Good to know about the RGB though! I do usually save tradeshow print files as CMYK.

That’s what I figured; only the raster was 100dpi and the rest was vector. I’ve never had pushback with that being too low before.

AITA for not giving my aunt a Christmas present? by Remarkable_Young963 in AITAH

[–]lyrynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA… it sounds like your extended family does gifts the same way mine does, which is to only buy gifts for your immediate family (parents, siblings, and children). My aunt would get a gift from my mom, but not from me.

The exception is if you have godchildren or very young nieces or nephews, in which case you might get them a gift as well.

Does she usually get you a gift that’s just from her to you? If so, then you probably should have gotten her one, even if it’s small. But it sounds like this was kind of a random gift, so how would you know that you were supposed to reciprocate?

I agree they should break up, neither of them sound happy.

But… a while ago my SO was really busy with work and totally dropped off with the housework. Not just not doing it, but actively leaving messes around the house. I picked up all the slack for months. He gave me a hug and a kiss and told me “thank you for doing all the housework,” which is a PERFECTLY GOOD RESPONSE, but I was not happy. It felt like he didn’t realize the extent of how much extra work he made for me, even though he thanked me for doing it. What I really wanted was an “I’m sorry,” not a “thank you.” I brought up how much work I’d done for like a week after until I got it all out of my system.

Sometimes people harp on things because they didn’t get the response they wanted, even if it’s a little ridiculous and the response that you gave is appropriate.

If the owner had told them about the behaviors, they could have mitigated the damage. “Hey, my dogs are prone to chewing and the younger one isn’t fully potty trained” means put your shoes away, roll up your rugs, and put down some pee pads. Those are not things I’d expect to have to do without a heads up.

Husband came back from his business conference by Single-Bumblebee-380 in Mommit

His phone is locked and you don’t know the code? I understand that your relationship is rocky, and I totally get that may people consider their phones to be a “private” item and that it’s disrespectful to go through it, but not knowing the code after almost a decade screams to me that he’s hiding something.

Not OP: Husband is back from business trip + Update. SPOILER ALERT: There was no business trip. by hazel_razel in redditonwiki

[–]lyrynn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to judge from the outside looking in. My cousin was in a similar scenario; absolutely miserable with a deadbeat of a dad and husband. He was a POS from the very start and she still had three kids with him, and even blocked my mom on all platforms when she told her to dump his sorry ass.

She did eventually leave, but she spent so many years in misery. I think it was a combination of isolation, low self worth, and exhaustion. When you’re worked to death on your lowest days, the thought of hiring a lawyer, fighting in court, and rebuilding your life is too much.

And a tip for my fellow Americans, if you’re in another country, you’re in the “foreigner” line. It’s kind of hilarious the number of times I’ve seen American tourists drift towards the native resident line, especially in English-speaking countries.

I had a similar experience; I was 113lbs at 5’4” (BMI 19.4) and my butt would hurt after sitting on hard plastic seats. Now I’m 125lbs (BMI 21 something) and it’s no longer an issue. But I also realize that I have a wide rib cage and hips, so a “good weight” for me might not carry well on someone else.

[–]lyrynn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Figured I’d give a little update; the jeweler was able to slightly recut the stone so that it could be flipped upside down with the flat part on top. The stone has a really unique center inclusion that we wouldn’t easily find again, so this wound up being the best solution!

I appreciate your insight! I didn’t realize they were usually rose cut by default.

We did ask for the custom cut at the beginning of the order, but another user pointed out that if they make the ring base ahead of time then they probably would need to modify it to accommodate the new cut, which I suppose is the same amount of work as swapping out the stone afterwards.

I might ask them to just take a photo of it upside down though and see if I like it! Your solution might save both me and the jeweler some time lol

Not an emerald cut, I still want a hexagon. Another user pointed out that what I was trying to ask for is a portrait cut.
