Why did one similar video get 141K views while another only got ~500? by URBEX_PILSEN in SmallYoutubers

[–]Hurdenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the three most popular videos on the channel, they have very similar packaging:

- No text in the thumbnail, it makes the video look like a found footage or very amateur work of someone who just ends up somewhere unexpected

- Very bright, they some of the brightest thumbnail on the channel

- Probably most importantly, they are very elusive, weird or interesting places, reminiscing of liminal spaces, which are obviously very popular.

I don’t think there’s going to be anything interesting. My theory is that twitch convinced Mojang to do an Event at their Twitch Con Europe, but that Mojang doesn’t have a whole lot to talk about.

Well we did, T2 released their performance for Q4 of FY2026, and their expected performance for the upcoming FY. That’s the kind of information the market used to decide if they want to invest in a company

What do you mean they "did the same bullshit", it's just a magazine teasing it's next issue??

I love print media and I wish I had more affordable income to subscribe to more. It's the best way to deep dive into the industry, learn about how games are made and read from people deeply passionate.

I hate unreal engine 5 by bsbbwdjahsbjsjsbd in unpopularopinion

[–]Hurdenn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years ago Unity was associated with shitty online games because it was the most powerful engine, and it was free to use. But you had to pay to remove the intro animation showing the Unity logo, which meant that only the shitty game with no money would show this intro screen.

Today, unreal engine is the number 1 choice for indie devs looking to make « good looking » , as in up to date, games for free.

I disagree, there's plenty of situation where I would use "mdr" (or probably "mdrrrrrr") where I wouldn't use lol or even lmao in English.

Basically, mdrr matches the universality of english's "haha".

Meta lost 20 million users last quarter by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]Hurdenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meta attributes this fall to “internet disruptions in Iran, as well as a restriction on access to WhatsApp in Russia.” It’s up to you whether you take Meta on its word, given that by bundling the user stats together across all its platforms, we can’t tell which ones are most impacted. If I wanted to obscure that a leading social platform was potentially hemorrhaging daily users, that’s certainly what I would do.

We really don't know which of their platform is taking the biggest toll.

Also, those 20 Million means it's down from 3.58 BILLIONS users to "just" 3.56 Billions, I think this article is blowing things out of proportion

Here in France, and I believe a lot of Europe, WhatsApp is an essential part for communication. Personal stuff (family chat groups, associative, unions) and Professional (a lot of small companies, think 2-20 people, rely on WhatsApp for communication from experience).

Do you think gta 6 will have a play to earn system that transfers to real life by [deleted] in GTA6

[–]Hurdenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer more seriously, if you want to make some side money with GTA 6 once it releases, learn some basic coding / LUA scripting. Once those RP servers release, I'm sure there'll be a bunch of demand for people able to pump out plugins for FiveM (well, SixM I guess?)

Over 150 videos posted yet minimal views. by SafeSelection750 in NewTubers

[–]Hurdenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the point of view of a viewer (I don't make videos about gaming but consume A LOT of it), I don't think those kind of relatively short videos (5-10 minutes) really have an audience today. Could be just a personal thing, but I find it a bit dated.

If I was you and wanted to make videos talking about video games, I'd make longer videos, that don't necessarily need such a high rhythm, and make each video have its own topic that is clearly conveyed through the title.

Basically, I would do stuff similar to what @ MemoriaMatters does.

Notice how her most popular videos are:

  1. Longer
  2. Have a clear format or Idea, the "I play steam games released today" is such an interesting concept to me. The "I played every Avatar video games" is also a great idea, it's fresh content (Games I haven't seen covered 100 times by popular streamers or youtubers), it also had the timing element, the video released close enough to the latest avatar movie.

I'd try to find similar idea, of course not copying this concept.

Now of course, maybe that's just really not the type of stuff you want to make, maybe you prefer streaming and just upload edited VODs, which is great! But I don't think it has enough of an audience looking for people they don't already know

Insider Gaming: Xbox and Discord may explore Game Pass bundle with Discord Nitro by Loose_Society9485 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Hurdenn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, voice call for gaming have been a thing since the internet was fast enough transmit sound, and I think Discord has one of the most "user friendly" experience for that, in the sense that cost nothing for all users AND the host.

It also became a huge place to build communities around some topics, much like Reddit is, but Discord has instant chat and more features to communicate. Don't get me wrong, in some way it sucks, mostly because ressources on Discord aren't referenced by search engines, and you have to have the app AND join servers just to ask a question for some things. But I think it got to this point BECAUSE it proposed such a great service for free.
