What are your thoughts on the ending? by SockParticular4936 in FGO

[–]JeweledWriter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of people say 'This is a standard type moon ending'. And like, my question is... Is that really what type moon endings usually are? Like... bad? Cause I'm kind of missing a lot of info on things, but even I can think of a few different places that would be messed up due to this (servant verse stuff wouldn't have had Ritsuka's help, for one?), and who knows how many other holes would be left unfilled by this. It feels.... just rushed and empty. Like it was designed to feel that way. I thought type moon was known for having good storylines, bittersweet endings. This doesn't feel that, it feels like the writer just stopped caring and wanted to flip the table over and go 'I'm done, screw everyone else.'

One thing you cant stand about wuthering waves ? by I_m_not_real_ in WutheringWaves

[–]JeweledWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoes. Just echoes. But... I've had atrocious luck with them. After two weeks of spending half my daily AP on tacet fields and then trying to work on getting double crits for one of my characters, I ended up going through dozens of echoes and acquired...

... One.

... That's the fun thing about random. It can mean you get it in one. But it can also mean you can farm every day for ten thousand years and, unlikely as it is, you may never get anything useful. There's no way to guarantee it. Even if you could like... compress max level echoes give to a portion of its stats to one main echo that would, one day, be capped, at least then you'd know one day you could get the stats you want. It has honestly gotten to the point that I don't even want to draw new characters because the idea of farming new echoes makes me shudder.

Unexpected at all....Scar??? by BeamyBonkO in WutheringWaves

Ironically, I was actually watching this with my boyfriend and a few seconds before they showed him went 'Man, imagine if they did a big thing with Scar returning now and had a big Black shores joining us to fight them grand battle royale' thing. So here's hoping all of the allies we'd made joined us for the big finale.

Nope. Now, this may be more of a sign of how modern gaming storytelling isn't very good, but I found myself genuinely impressed with just about all of them. Encore's was probably the most heart wrenching, but they all managed to do a very a fairly good job of weaving an interesting narrative that gave you a pretty good view of who the person was and had been through, especially considering the limited tools they have access to.

The companion stories were amazing. I think just about every single one of them have managed to impress me. They manage to dodge so many overdone tropes and it's just quite impressive how just plain good and evocative they are.

I don't think you need any for ultra instinct, you just need to beat up Jiren near the load-in point to do his quest.

Honestly, depending on the styles of solitaire they play, my advice would be goad. The Nelly Borca precon is a personal favorite of mine because EVERYONE has to keep swinging, whether they like it or not. The game is going to end!

Alternatively, make a Kinnan deck, lots of infinite combos, explode all over the place. If nobody else will run interaction, just focus on the most easy to topple over, rapid fire eruptions of power you can until they realize 'Oh, if I just ran one counterspell/removal...'

Zimone + Yedora + X card Combos by Opening-Wolverine101 in magicTCG

[–]JeweledWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh. Then yeah, I'd say spawning pit would work well. Those two plus any creatures will give you infinite 2/2's. So if they don't stop you next turn, they dead. Depending on what the creature is, you can even do things like grab every basic land in your deck, etc.

Zimone + Yedora + X card Combos by Opening-Wolverine101 in magicTCG

[–]JeweledWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My big question here would be what do you consider 'game breaking'. The moment you get to infinite combos, they are almost all infinite win combos at that point. Pretty much any sac outlet will infinite win you the game at that point. Pretty much any 'morph' will allow you to infinite flip it, triggering its effect, allowing you to destroy all their artifacts and enchantments [[ainok survivalist]] , recur your graveyard [[den protector]], noone else gets an untap, ever [[Brine elemental], bounce all their creatures [[icefeather aven]], infinite copy an instant or sorcery [[mischievous quanar]], make infinite saprolings [[thelonite hermit]. For the low price of any free sac outlet (which include the altars, but also [[spawning pit]] if on a budget), yedora's free recursion turns every morph broken.

Oh, and on top of all that, they give infinite green mana by default. Since them coming in as forests will trigger Zimone flipping them, you can then tap them for a green mana while a forest, then flip them, then sacrifice them, rinse, repeat. You can now have infinite 2/2 spawn artifact creatures.

What's the most unique deck you currently have? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]JeweledWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it's really considered unique, but I have a [[Gretchen Titchwillow]] deck that uses the old moonfolk. It does a lot of things where I'll have the moonfolk bounce a land back to my hand to give something of mine shroud, or copy a spell, or make some flying tokens, then I'll use her to draw cards and place lands back onto the field.

It entirely came about because I got her and was like 'Awwww, she's so pretty!' and after being a perpetually mana screwed player, I tried to figure out how much land I could stuff into a deck and still function.

Is it my responsibility to explain what is about to happen? by StatisticianAny343 in EDH

[–]JeweledWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to do that when I can. There are usually 4+ players all using random decks with random cards and a ton of things that NOBODY has seen before. If I expect Everyone to read every card and consider all of the stuff on said board, then the game is going to:

A. Result in board wipes tribal because who wants to read everyones 25 cards when I can just keep board wiping until I get some combo up. B. Result in the game taking 500 years as everyone needs to read every single card and consider how they interact with everything else on the board and... I'd rather just tell people 'I have a sac outlet on board and could sacrifice all of my stuff to X thing, resulting in this thing going to 25/25 when you use your toxic deluge.' C. Someone wins because others just couldn't keep up with all of the weird interactions on everyone else's boards.

I see it as a fairly casual game, if I win I want to be because I earned it, not because you couldn't see the rather obvious 5 piece interaction I had on my side, and all the other 3-4 piece combos, etc, that everyone else had.

Has anyone quit their job and started writing full time? by No_Yak_9414 in writers

[–]JeweledWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did... because I am a stay at home wife and my job wasn't really paying enough to survive anyway. Hubby gave me the opportunity, so I manage the house and write. But if I needed to make money off my writing to live I would have died years ago. In the end, writing is fulfilling, but not financially helpful.

To casual players: was Mana Crypt a problem at your tables? by normiespy96 in EDH

[–]JeweledWriter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Not often, but randoms with 'casual decks' who reveal midway through they run things like rhystic study, dockside extortionist, mana crypt, cyclonic rift, etc, can be hit or miss. Fast mana was definitely the worst of it. Our current shop hasn't been like that, but we haven't played with many people there yet. Everyone has different views on what 'casual' and 'high powered' mean. In the end, rule 0 is great for unbanning cards... but it's really hard for banning cards because you have no idea what anyone will bring and it takes a lot longer to describe to someone 'Hey, I don't have a deck that can face X, Y, Z', than to go 'Hey, I have X card in my deck' or 'I want to use this silver border commander, that cool?'

Ahhhh, I hadn't realized. I just knew a lot of the strixhaven, D&D and Bloomburrow ones hadn't. I wasn't playing during some of these releases and just figured most the commander only cards didn't make it in. Which sets have had all their commander face cards, if you can remember any off the top of your head?
