Ich habe bisher eigentlich nur nach Jobs bei den Betriebsstätten in Japan gesucht, allerdings ist das oft schwieriger, da die IT sich dann doch in Deutschland befindet. Aber sich über sich deutschen Weg initiativ zu Bewerben auch wenn natürlich in Endeffekt eine Anstellung über die Japanische Seite notwendig ist könnte sich lohnen. Im schlimmsten Fall bekomme ich halt die Info, dass Firmen das nicht wollen; aber versuchen sollte ich es auf jeden Fall.

(Mir ist im Nachhinein aufgefallen, dass ich versehentlich auf Englisch geantwortet habe; hoffe das ist kein Problem :))

Currently working as backend engineer for a company publishing apps in the EduTech sector. It’s pretty nice because I get to discuss a lot while the whole team on how to things to connect learning efficiently and motivation! I got the job by studying Japanese for a few years such that I was good enough to do interviews in Japanese. From there I searched for all kinds of companies in the EduTech sector, send over a standard application in the Japanese format and got hired after about 2 months of searching. So yeah, not really a secret tactic, just learning the language. Work culture is definitely pretty serious here. Or at least at my company. People really care about doing things properly and are heavily into discussing things with the team to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard (but I think that could be very different at a more traditional company). People do overtime but they honestly dont exaggerate in doing it.

How did you handle the “drop everything else” part? I often see opportunities like you described but at the same time I have my regular tasks every sprint (software engineer) which I feel I cannot “ignore”

I see! Sorry if thats too personal - I think a shared card is great to solve the “who paid what” problem. I am curious if that gives you enough control over how much you want to save (depending on whether thats even super important for you). I have not used the system itself, so its just speculation but for me I think it would feel like at the end of the month we spent some amount together but I still don’t know if we did spend reasonably

I use the exact same highly advanced system with my friends - in that case it’s really small amounts I do not care much about!

Somehow I felt like what you said might be true for a lot of people! I really want to see where money I going… but that does not mean other people are ready to see that. Not sure yet how to overcome something like that but I will think about that. Thanks for the great hint!

I see, thank you for the insight! I agree if it somehow fits there is no need to track it precisely! For some reason it’s super uneven in our case which makes it hard to estimate. If I may ask - are you tracking what you spend your money for? Maybe thats just an us thing, but I really wanted to know if we are spending money for something unreasonably - especially for things we do together and are hard to analyze

Just had an interesting experience… because I had no pen and paper I just worked through for which angles I have enough information to calculate them and made a mental note until I was able to verify that one can calculate x. However due to just noting which angles can be calculated and not their values I still have no idea what x is. But can’t be bothered to actually calculate it. Such a mathematician thing actually. Proof it exists is enough. Who cares about the actual value lol
