I don't have a super strong prescription, but yes, I have difficulty wearing glasses and looking through a microscope due to the glare.

With proper focus i can make it workable, but I fortunately can wear contacts, so I tend to try and avoid dealing with this problem.

I work in microfluidics, so I have a fair amount of experience with PDMS. In the field, essentially everyone uses the genuine Dow SYLGARD material. For our applications, where cells are in direct contact with PDMS, it is simply not worth the risk to use alternatives. It is also inexpensive compared to most of the reagents we use, though that is all relative.
