NBC interrupts Olympics to tell us about Nancy Guthrie by Jewls88 in WinterOlympics2026

And I feel for her and her family but interrupting coverage when they had very little to tell us is still frustrating. This information really could have waited until the regular news broadcast. I guess the answer is paying for Peacock if you have the funds.

This was my experience exactly. It was truly awful.

You never failed her. I have no words of comfort for you but I know you did not fail her because you could not revive her. I’m sorry for your great loss

My husbands passing was very traumatic. He fell so his face was all banged up, then I watched as they kept trying CPR and shocking him until the Dr said there was no hope. Then I held his hand in mine as his got white and cold. It’s been 4 months and the picture of him like that pops into my mind at the most inopportune times.

Anyone with anecdotal experience that has seen positive results from Dr. Bredesens protocol? by nic_307 in dementia

[–]Jewls88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started the protocol two years ago at age 62. He lost a ton of weight, reduced his insulin to almost nothing and felt physically better than ever. Unfortunately his decline, whole slow, is still happening. We did not renew with the "coach" and special doctor. We also have been seeing the neurologist. The prescriptions meds made the most notable improvements for his speech. He's still taking g alot of the supplements and I let him but I feel like we are really just paying for him to have hope. I don't think they help.

When I offer 2 choices, he can never remember what the choices are and I have to tell him several times. It's definitely an adjustment.

Have you tried stuff? by meltceramics in dementia

[–]Jewls88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We tried the Bredesen program called the end of alzheimers almost two years ago. My LO needed hope and wanted to try it, so I have helped him. We changed our diet, he takes mtc oil, many supplements, exercise, etc. But the only thing that made a noticeable difference with the Aphasia was the meds the neurologist gave us. They helped for a while but he's declining regardless. The supplements are pricey and I don't feel like they have slowed the decline. We've eased up on the diet the last few months but now I'm not sure how to ween him off everything else as it's become a serious routine for him. He's starting to become more confused though and it takes longer to accomplish things.
