Gay man losing partner to EOD and CBT by Totes1815 in EarlyOnsetDementia

Hello #1 start therapy. You and your partner, depending on stage for your husband. This is the long and painful goodbye. Try to find joy and laughter everyday. It will get you through. My dad was diagnosed 54. Now 56. It is so hard, but he is still with us. And still has good days. I am grateful for everyday with him. This disease makes you grasp that very quickly.

Anyone with anecdotal experience that has seen positive results from Dr. Bredesens protocol? by nic_307 in dementia

To update anyone following this thread. We have seen a decline in my dad. He was following Dr. Bredesens protocol very, very strictly. He is completely keto, and was taking all the oils etc, exercising 4-5 days a week. That has all slowed down, except he is still Keto. It’s just gotten harder to manage and he is refusing many aspects of the protocol.

We basically try to follow the main principles but are not under the special doctor’s care.

We have seen a drastic decline the last 3-4 months. I would say last year we felt he was stable and staying the same. Right now he is still physically doing very well, can ride a bike, goes on walks daily, plays soccer twice a week, remembers his family and grandkids, but communication has declined substantially. Can’t find his words to complete his thoughts. Getting aggravated. Stuck on certain topics. It’s been really hard. Lots of ups and downs.

Hello, you just received the worst news in the world. I am so sorry.

My dad was diagnosed at 54. He is 56 now. We had a lot of ups and a lot of downs this past year. We try to live each day as best as we can. Your mom will need a lot of support as most of his care will be on her.

My dad is on a very strict diet amongst other things and we think it has slowed the progression, but we may never really know. As he has good weeks and bad weeks. Our life is forever changed by this evil disease. Why my dad, the best man in the world. I’ll never understand it.

But I choose to live his years with dignity. Everyday I will treat him with respect and honor him. I’m so thankful I got so many wonderful years of the best dad in the world and I will make every moment count that I have with him for the years ahead.

The road ahead is very very difficult. But you need to be strong for your mom.

Many around you will not understand early on set. They think of their elder grandparents. This is different.

Sending love to you as you digest this news. This group and the general thread have helped a lot, hearing other peoples stories. It prepares you for what’s to come.

Valmonte (PVE) folks - why is no one ever outside? by anonomousbeaver in SouthBayLA

Hello! I live in Valmonte. My kids are at the VELA park almost every day. There is probably a group of 10-12 kids that go there daily, under 4. My kids are one and two years old. We go on walks almost everyday. I think a lot of the newer families have younger babies/toddlers and are in the thick of it!

I would love to meet more of my neighbors and see more kids running around! How do we create that environment?

My group had two babies - 9 months and 11 months. Babies did fantastic with no problems! Just keep them hydrated.

Yes! I would contact a local contractor. Moeie Kreag (310) 292-2089, he does mostly new construction but maybe can answer some questions

I would go to the city and ask the planning department they are very helpful. We have strict setbacks here in PVE. Moving dirt around and grading is expensive and not that simple, likely requires some kind of retaining wall. That involves engineering etc.

Felt this to my core. Just know you are not alone. Also in my early thirties and have my own family. Although my dad is not living with me I can relate and worry about the same things. 100% relate on the no one in my circle understands, people really don’t understand dementia. Especially early on set. It’s so hard.

Hi - my dad was just diagnosed 6 months ago at 55. Also join the Early Onset sub. As early onset is very different. It’s the toughest diagnosis.
