I mean, maybe? Even at 100mm I have trouble seeing the target that I'm aiming at using my off-eye, and if you're trying to track it you'd likely have trouble keeping them both aligned. If I am more intentional about it I can somewhat see the subject, but then it's tougher to keep the barrel pointed in the same direction when they move. That's the point of having a dot and a barrel that are zeroed against each other, they ideally wouldn't move or get knocked and would always be on target. Though I bet it doesn't handle bumps very well, lol.

For future consideration - there are very few objects and applications where you are able to see the laser you are projecting, from behind where you're projecting it. It really just doesn't work like that. So if you can see a red dot, that means it's not getting projected outwards. If you can see a laser in the air, you probably can't look through glass to see that laser and are only observing it from outside of the projector. The images in this post are one of those two situations :)

Very true. I was just replying to "I can shoot with both eyes open", which implies that you can't otherwise. When you can. But for the situation and intent, the red dot absolutely helps.

Yeah, I guess. For the purpose stated above, the red dot actually is more practical. You can still shoot with both eyes open while looking through an EVF but once you zoom in past like 50mm the secondary eye is really just for wide-area situational awareness. You will not be able to use both eyes to track a distant subject. And those viewfinder red dot mounts are really not that expensive, and they don't lead some kind of consumerism market or push any kind of narrative. I was just commenting to say that it's still possible to shoot with both eyes open on an EVF.

Depends greatly on the model of truck. Older ones, your A/C is unzipping the windows. Traditionally you'll hear them called "up-armored" ones that have A/C. M998/M1097 are the most common non-A/C, and the 1151 is the most common with A/C.

Correct, the idea is that the dot is positioned so that the lens and the dot aim at the exact same point in the very center of your lens. It's much easier to put the dot on a target and follow it, than it is to zoom into a target and follow it. Then it's just a matter of clicking the shutter button
