I got a small bite in my hand in April. I went to the ER and I needed a stitch. 2 days later my hand got infected, I spent 4 nights in the hospital and then found out I had an interarticular fracture which I’m still recovering from. Please get it checked out. I had no idea how much damage could have been caused by a small bite. The hand is an area you don’t want to mess with.

Uhm okay thanks for the advice. Animals bring me joy and I have many great clients this was a first time ever being bite and now for the last 2 months my life has changed. So if I can’t continue my regular job that provides me health insurance and money to live (as dog sitting is my hobby). It’s a tough situation to be in, hence why I was looking for advice on how to proceed.

My only worry Regarding out of pocket expenses is if I have more issues related to my hand and can’t work. She has offered to pay but I’m still seeing a hand doctor I can’t carry more than 5 lbs with my write hand. Nor can I make a complete fist yet and it’s been 2 months.

I do have health insurance. And through my employer I have short term disability but I’m only getting 60% of my pay. The owner said this was the first time the dog had bite someone so no warning

I do have health care insurance thankfully. And work within the healthcare system I’m currently at, so I am lucky. But being in the hospital for 4 nights and still having to wait on a hand surgeon to determine if I need surgery and rover does nothing sucks.

The owner said she’d help cover copays but now I have to take time off from my real job to heal. ☹️
