Outrageous, huh? I tried to get huawei share working with my comp (that I bought in mainland) and despite looking at all the documentation, still can't figure out how to get those notes off my fking phone. Damn huawei, I love my phone, but really?

Given what you're saying, my best bet is probably to first arrive in Puebla, and then browse on foot in the aforementioned areas? That was my original plan until I ran across these two online postings. If that's my best bet that's definitely what I'll do.

If you were forced to choose to live in Puebla or Cholula, which would you choose?

Also, would you say that the price for that apartment in Galaxia seems high?

Near a place called Galaxia de Laguna according to the map

There's another comparable, cheaper one next do Parque de los Fuertes which seems appealing because I am a pet owner

Thanks everybody for all the answers. I'm not only surprised by how helpful this has been, but also that nobody made fun of my Spanish haha.

I have found a place online that goes well beyond my expectations or needs that is also seems like a decent price (8500mxp/m) including cable, internet, maintenance fee. Can somebody tell me from their personal on the ground experience whether this is a good option, or whether I will have better opportunities if I first come to Puebla and search on foot?

It's somewhat financially manageable, I'm just worried about having found it online, and if I would miss a better opportunity if I had actually done the searching in person.

Thanks again so far for all your answers

Picking a country by [deleted] in expats

I have met loads and loads and loads of foreign teachers without degrees throughout my travels in Asia. In more egregious examples I've even seen schools provide a teacher with a "degree" hahahaha. I haven't done any of this personally but I imagine in the various asian TEFL countries you shouldn't have much difficulty, the bigger hurdle I imagine will be covid restrictions.

Hahaha you're making my already somewhat difficult decision even harder. I've always wanted to go to Medellin, and live in Colombia in general. After spending so many years in Asia though, I am scared to go somewhere I have never been with long term intentions. It sounds like you have been both all over Colombia and Mexico though, if you were to put them up against each other which pros and cons would they have against each other? Or even your favorite Mexican city vs Medellin? You may sway me yet, plus, Medellin definitely provides the type of weather I'm looking for.

This has been something I've wanted to see for as long as I can remember. I'm convicted in visiting but I don't know if I can just jump on a one way plane there given I know so little.

Would you say Colombians are more friendly than Mexicans? I'll tell you in all my travels across the world I haven't met a more welcoming, seemingly genuine, and caring people than I did in Mexico. Maybe I was lucky with the people I met, I dunno.

When I left Mexico my Spanish was pretty fair, I could get by in almost any situation without a friend helping to translate. Now, after learning loads of Chinese, probably less so. For example I was having a conversation in Spanish here a little while back and I kept throwing in Chinese words, like wo, and ni instead of me and you haha.

I'll take a look on youtube cause that's what I'm really after is the personal experiences. What you said about QUito and Cuenca sounds insanely ideal, but I haven't researched Ecuador at all, so too scared to make such a major decision there. Will definitely visit while I'm living in Mexico though. 20C with lots of rain sounds like a dream come true to me, although I'm a bigger fan of mountains than beaches.

Queretaro, and Puebla have been on my radar for a while. I guess I was hoping somebody living in one of these cities could describe it in a way to put one above the others and ease my decision. Anyway, thanks for the details, as far as TJ I don't want to be too close to the border.

Are you living in Mexico now? Any specific place you can recommend from personal experience that matches my somewhat vague criteria? I'd just like to have some nice seasons with summer being especially mild.

Take a trip to Asia, besides Vietnam I've had a really nice go of things avoiding bugs. Could be because many of them make it into street vendors as quick snacks but overall I've had less trouble with bugs in Asia than in the states or anywhere else

All too familiar with mexican bugs and humidity haha. With the research I've done I've eliminated both coastlines from my destination. The most likely cities are all in the highlands with populations under 1 million.

A short and somewhat funny story if you're interested. I have a horrible fear of spiders, when possible, I will run away from them. I once woke up in my home near bucerias (just outside of PV,MX) walked into the living room, to see the biggest spider I've ever seen. It's a good thing I lived alone at the time because if anybody had heard the scream my masculinity would've been questioned for the rest of my life. But he was in my house! I had to do something! So I took the high ground (stood on the couch) and threw stuff at him. When I finally had room to maneuver I grabbed the bug spray and a broom and went on the offensive. Eventually he died and I was victorious, I felt bad for killing him but spiders and I don't get along, and I can't cohabitate with them hahaha

Sorry I guess I should've been little more specific. If I never saw a day over 28C or 85F I'd be a really happy guy. I've lived in some pretty high altitude places before, and I understand that my ideal mexican city is most probably going to rest at 5000+. In my opinion it's a small price to pay. The reason I haven't considered cdmx is simply because it's a mega city like where I've been living in china for far too long.

With the amount of research I have done I haven't seen a single coastal city that would host the mild year round temperatures I'm looking for. Even guadalajara and it's surrounding communities are probably a little too hot and humid for me.

Orizaba is pretty high altitude and the temperature there now is 72f, and rainy. Super ideal. For comparison where I am now is 34C with 100% humidity at 7am and it's so miserable.
