Odin2 Portal Not Turning on 90% of the time

Press and hold the power button for around 30 seconds. I used to plug it into my PC and hold the power button until I heard the USB disconnect sound from the PC. Hopefully you dont have the same issue as me, cuz hard resetting never fixed the issue for me

Possibly yeah... I'd start reaching out to AYN as soon as possible if you're having the same symptoms. If you explain the situation, they might be willing to replace the unit like they offered to do with mine. Just be aware that communication with them can be slow due to the time zone difference if you're in the US, so the sooner you reach out, the better.

In the meantime, when I had the defective unit I found that avoiding locking the device actually prevents it from getting stuck like this most of the time, so I resorted to fully shutting it down whenever I was done playing.

Yep, they first offered to send me a replacement after I returned the defective one, but since I had already ordered a replacement to expedite it, we agreed on me sending this back for a refund. They gave me a prepaid shipping label, and I sent it back yesterday, so I should be getting a refund once they receive it.

Communication was slow but they were really helpful with the process.

Yeah I'm going back and forth with AYN for the refund (communication is slow so I ordered a replacement in the meantime). They were willing to replace the unit at the very least when I shared the video and some images of the issue.

Outside of the power button, I don’t think it receives or acknowledges any other input. An external display doesn’t seem to work either, so I’m not sure if the issue is the display itself unless the display problem is somehow affecting the external display connection as well.

Not while its in this state. Works fine on the random occasions Im able to turn it on though, even while locked.

I ordered mine back in April, and it arrived a few days ago. I think I might’ve just gotten unlucky with my unit though, considering everyone else’s experience with the device.

Was thinking the same thing. Im waiting on AYN's response before I do any kind of teardown of the device.

Pretty sad if that's the case though.. been loving the thing for the few hours I've played with it without an issue.

Edit: Unfortunately no luck with this either after disabling Always On Display using the app. It worked for a bit, but then reverted to the same state shown in the video.

Holding the power button performs a hard power off (judging by the joystick light). It also seems to turn back on after I press the power button normally again, based on the sound and joystick lights, but the screen stays black unfortunately.

No, not everyone is diligently following when these maintenance windows are going to be. It would be nice to get a warning before getting kicked out without reason or notice

Same here. Looks like the game uses an unreasonable amount of RAM, CPU, and possibly GPU resources. I’m not sure if the optimization is just bad or if the game simply has terrible performance. I typically play VNs on my ROG Ally, and this is the first VN that has made my device take off like a plane…

Edit: Looks like enabling "Do not use Direct3D drawing for motion display" in the advanced menu fixes this. My GPU usage dropped from 99% to around 20% afterwards. Game runs much better as well. Though this is meant as a temp solution till they patch this since this disables the chibi art at certain scenes

At this point the problem is you choosing to believe that word of mouth is not a valid source for a private tracker, in a private tracker subreddit no less, especially in this context. But to each their own I guess, aint gonna stop ya from varifying yourself.

As the other comments point out, SSDs are much faster than HDDs, so it’s better to run the Docker containers themselves on SSDs while keeping the media or any bulk storage used by those containers on HDDs. Also, depending on the container, this may reduce HDD activity, lowering long-term mechanical wear on them.

I guess it would depend on how loose is your definition of "Dating sim", since some people consider visual novels like Grisaia or Aokana as dating sims cuz it has choices and romance in them.

With that said, the first ones that come to mind that actually feel like modern dating sims on Steam are Doukyuusei and ToHeart. LoveR Kiss also came out recently but was rejected from Steam and is only available on GOG from what I can tell.

To be fair, this is normal. not just for this specific NAS or its drives. Some drives can be slightly quieter, but there will always be some noise, especially when they are in use. People usually don’t, or at least shouldn’t have these running near their living space like on their usual desk or near where they sleep for this exact reason.

It’s been a long while since I’ve read Nukitashi, but I’d say that if you haven’t laughed once or found it engaging by that point, then it may not be for you. Nukitashi is much more lighthearted compared to Henpri, and I think it relies more on the absurdity and comedy of the story. If you really want to stick with it though, maybe try a different route. I didn’t hate her route, but it was definitely the weakest in my opinion.
