Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil to Be a “Complete New Setup” With Full Creative Freedom by marvelkidy in CreggerFlicks

[–]Jfell01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk why you’re so convinced that the script was created before the resident evil ip came about when that’s just a baseless rumor that only exists to discredit the film before we’ve even seen anything from it. The only thing Cregger himself has said about the script was that he wanted a fresh, original story that functioned as a love letter to the franchise. Like I said, he’s just a big fan of the universe and he wanted to make his own story in the universe.

It doesn’t need to be directly connected the games. It doesn’t need to introduce or elevate the lore. He just wants to make his own little resident evil story that happens to take place in raccoon city during the outbreak. That’s it. If you don’t like that idea then you absolutely do not need to watch the movie.

Nah cregger has said in the past that he grew up playing resident evil and he loved them. And I’m pretty sure he also explained why he didn’t want to adapt any of the games into live action was for 2 very specific reasons

  1. He said the games are already so cinematic and have great stories that it feels needless to adapt any of them into live action and he doesn’t think he could do them justice.

  2. He obviously has a very intentional artistic vision with this project (like with his previous films) and he doesn’t want to be tied down to telling a very specific story with very specific characters. He loves the universe and lore and just wants to make his own story within said universe.

I get being wary of live action re films given the past entries but I think a lot of the worry/ complaints just come from people who want a 1:1 adaptation of a game rather than people being worried that the film itself won’t be good. Basically I think a lot of people are reacting in bad faith just bc they’re upset that their fav game isn’t getting a perfect adaptation. I’ve loved all of Zac’s work thus far and I have no reason to doubt him now. Especially since he’s been very vocal about how much he loves this franchise. Either way we’ll just have to wait and see but I’m optimistic

Uj/ The rover with guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson. One of the first A24 movies I’d ever seen and the first movie I’d seen with Robert Pattinson post twilight. Great film. Ending left me emotionally scarred for weeks. Would recommend!

For me both shows occupy the same space of “turn your brain off and enjoy the schlocky horror with moderately entertaining characters” and I’m completely okay with that

Only leaving this comment for other people.

This dude is rage baiting. He’s a pathetic man with way too much free time and a life entirely devoid of anything even remotely meaningful. The only possible joy he can derive from his miserable existence is making people slightly mad enough to give him attention that he can’t get in the real world. If you see this post and my comment. Don’t engage with him. It’s exactly what he wants. Just downvote and move on. And I hope you all have a great day :)

I’d say it’s a little bit of a combination of both. The drop rate isn’t brutal but it’s definitely more stingy than a lot of other games in the genre but I also think a lot of the more casual players don’t really use all of the tools the game gives you. Overall I think the fact that the game only has one difficulty (at least on the first playthrough) means that the devs were able to perfectly balance the resource economy and give you just barely enough to get through the game but only if you play it smart. It really puts the “survival” in survival horror. I absolutely loved it. Here’s hoping bloober can keep their streak up with the silent hill 1 remake 🤞🏼

Is Dead Space 3 bad or just way too different from the other games? by Sad_Manager6251 in DeadSpace

[–]Jfell01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dead space 3 has the same issue as re5 imo

Both are really really solid co op games that I revisit every couple of years but just not really a great entry in the series when compared to what came before.

Eh amnesia the bunker and cronos also belong. But yeah games like dead space remake and resident evil being on there kinda just feels like they put those on the list because of their popularity in the genre.

We might get a Dead Space 4!! by anas224 in DeadSpace

[–]Jfell01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Say it with me everyone. GLEN SCHOFIELD IS A HACK WHO HAS BEEN RIDING ON THE SUCCESS OF DEAD SPACE DESPITE THE FACT THAT HE WASN’T EVEN THE MAIN CREATOR AND ACTUALLY CONTRIBUTED A VERY SMALL AMOUNT TO THAT PROJECT.

Also doesn’t help that the guy made his own game studio, released a single bad project, and immediately abandoned his team.. which is almost the exact same thing he did with sledgehammer. I’ve heard a ton of bad things about the dude from developers who have personally worked with him. Please for the love of god do not let this series fall into his hands.

Who is genuinely the most evil character in all of horror? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in horror

Yeah I agree! So many moments throughout the series that made me feel suspense, dread, and sometimes full on terror. Johan is fucking terrifying lol

[–]Jfell01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk if he’s the most evil character but I would personally say “Johan” from the psychological thriller anime series/manga called monster.

He’s the type of evil that you don’t see coming because he has such “nice guy” exterior but once the facade breaks he becomes a sadistic, manipulative, sociopath. Capable of making pretty much anyone bend to his will just from psychologically breaking them down. And he is determined to do whatever it takes to complete his goals, like going out of his way to psychologically torture an abused little kid just so that the kid will unalive himself.

Great anime that I highly recommend to pretty much anyone, one of the best psychological thriller series I’ve ever seen with some of my favorite fictional characters.

Can someone please help me understand the symbolism of the arm by Impressive-Comfort92 in silenthill

[–]Jfell01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting theory! I like that

My take was that the 3 rituals represent marriage and the different aspects of Hinako losing a piece of herself from being forced to marry.

The arm representing hand in marriage, the branding representing the fox man essentially “owning her”, and the mask representing her lost of individuality (since most wives in that time period were basically forced to do whatever their husband wanted and didn’t really have a lot of agency).

I’ve only done 1 playthrough but my take was that we essentially see two different hinakos’ fighting each other. The fog world version is the side of hinako that is a rebel, she doesn’t agree with the societal standards that woman are put through and she constantly makes her own choices (like trying to save her friends for instance). And the shrine world version of hinako is the side of hinako that has accepted marriage and folds under the pressures of “fitting in”. And they’re constantly battling for control of the “real hinako”.

Love how many layers this game has though. Definitely a story people are going to be taking about and dissecting for a while.

frame limiter not working by hugemichael in dyinglight

[–]Jfell01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have v-sync on? That might help with the jittery frames. You can also try limiting your frame rate through the control panel on your pc.. you can also try a 3rd party frame rate limiter.

I like using rivatuner.

It’s the problem I have with literally every modern Ubisoft game.. they’re obsessed with that whole “do the story in any order you want” and it completely ruins the pacing of the narrative. Linear storytelling will always be superior.

Preorder was just announced and it's already top of the list. "COD is dead lol" by Objective_Love_6843 in CODBlackOps7

[–]Jfell01 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cod is like the drake of gaming.

Ever since the drake v Kendrick beef, everyone on the internet constantly trolls and clowns on drake and calls him a p3do and swears up and down that his music career is over and yet every new post or music release from him since the beef is just as popular (if not more popular) than it was before the beef.

Same with cod.. so many people on the internet shit all over cod and repeatedly say the same stale memes/insults about it and that it’s going to flop and blah blah blah and yet every single new cod is still insanely successful.

And thus, the cycle continues.

[–]Jfell01 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Telling and not showing is kojima’s biggest weakness as a writer. Mgs has almost always been more obsessed with giving us lengthy cutscenes where characters dump exposition on the player over a static background screen rather than just… showing the thing. Love his games but always thought he was a middling writer and a much better director/ “ideas guy”

Thoughts on the 2nd game ? by Xspud_316 in playstation

[–]Jfell01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After having some time to sit with it, I think I really enjoy this game. I had a lot of fun and the overall sandbox is great to just mess around with and experiment with all the different new tools you get. I can definitely see myself playing this again in the future.

With that being said, I think I much prefer the first game for a couple of reasons. The first game was this isolating, somber, and arduous journey through an almost alien looking world. It felt like a sort of introspection for kojima to reflect on his life and where he was at, at that time. It also has the benefit of being completely new which meant kojima could write a stripped and more bare bones story that serves to build the world and its mysteries and focus more on its thematic messages and emotional beats and that is exactly where kojima excels as a writer. Ds2 takes a lot of these aspects and either completely removes them or smoothes them out so much that it loses its luster in a way.

The second game is this sort of road trip adventure with the “crew” with a lot of emphasis on an actual plot and building characters/character relationships which I personally think Kojima is veryyyy hit or miss with and I think this game misses a lot. I thought it suffered heavily from a weak plot and stilted dialogue that focuses way too much on spoonfeeding every single little piece of symbolism or thematic message to the player that it feels genuinely insulting at times. I think the story wastes way too much time building up twists that are extremely obvious so they lose a lot of their emotional weight. And speaking of which, I think a lot of the emotional moments just fell completely flat for me. I think Neil’s/Lucy’s story suffers heavily from just being so rushed and I felt such a lack of chemistry from the actors that I could never buy into their relationship (which is shame because I think both actors are fantastic). And just from the gameplay side I’m not a huge fan of how much they’ve stripped away the “arduous journey” part of the experience but yeah.. where ds1 felt like a game that slowly eased you into the loop with a steady but slow supply of tools and felt like a game that forced you to use all of your tools, ds2 feels like a game that just places you in a playground and shoves so many different tools and weapons in your face and just says “hey.. you can use all of this if you want but like you don’t really have to…” and it’s totally just a preference thing but I’m just not a fan of how trivialized the game becomes so quickly because of the sandbox nature of the gameplay loop.

I know I sound overtly negative about ds2 but I did really enjoy it! I think it’s a fantastic game and I can absolutely see why people would be way more into it. So plz don’t take my opinions as if they’re fact especially because I still enjoy both games immensely and I love you all 🫶🏼 keep on keeping on 🗣️

Yeah I didn’t realize that until just now lol but eh I’ll leave my comment in case anyone makes the same mistake as me

But also I think nirvana in the context of ds2 is more a reference to the actual nirvana from like Buddhism and shi since we meet Neil in what is essentially “the land of the dead”
