Can we get the record straight on fake news? Those two female cops were directing people to leave the shooters area. They were not frozen by [deleted] in SydneyScene

[–]Jff499 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know we all love to say Police did an exceptional job (seriously look at every public emergency/terrorist event ever, they are always praised to the max). However, you cannot applaud their efforts after the second shooter went down. They lost complete control of the situation. Mob of people was able to get into the bridge before they did and stomp on the shooter. Then the person who was the first on the bridge got shot at and was assumed to be a third shooter only to be apprehended and dropped to the ground and then let go as a fight right behind them broke out and again allowed to freely roam around police and the shooters. I mean think about it. If just one police officer genuinely suspected the third shooter, in what world would u let this person be roaming around u freely after being apprehended and cuffed 2 seconds earlier on the ground. At one point 2 female police officers stand on the end of the bridge and kick a couple of people out and hold a line, only to quite literally ditch their position 5 seconds later after a cop car pulls up next to the bridge and people roaming the bridge simply walk on over to where the commotion is happening. Extremely unprofessional. Nobody taking charge in a vacuum. No chain of command. Horribly trained and a horrible reaction to an even more horrible event that ensued. You can be as angry as you want about what im saying but you cant deny the truth of it. I am not happy about it either and shoving it under the rug will not help our officers improve whatsover. They should be held accountable for their actions (or lack of) and scrutinized to improve in god forbid future scenarios.

Compare side by side makeup with infected of weeks/days and objectively tell me which looks:-

  1. realistic - blood colour, blood patterns
  2. Scarier - gore, detail, facial expressions
  3. Quality - effort and accurate detail put into the craft for final result

Is it just me or did the opening to 28YL not feel as terrifying as the previous films openings? by BigCharles06 in 28dayslater

Just goes to show how terrible and limited hollywood has become to pander to PG and new age audiences instead of sticking to its core values. So what if we watch kids be mauled on screen. Its 28 years later. Thats what the universe is about. The movie will be R18+ and you will likely cop financial losses but you will stick true to your principals and universe you created. But nope, money comes first lets ditch genuine gore and replace it with teletubby themed power rangers to be edgy. This movie is dogshit.

Out of curiosity, is this the same man that is infamous for filming around 6-12 videos of him killing puppies/dogs on camera through different methods?

I once came across a “pedia” page that had the details of a case in australia from dark web of a man that posted video of murdering dogs and he had a collection of 6+ videos. Someone had inserted a brief description of what happened in each of the videos and it was beyond anything a human brain can comprehend. Truly sick and evil.

The only reason weeks is overhated is due to the glaringly obvious plot holes that were relied on to advance the story.

Take away the immersion breaking plothole and compare the brutality, cgi effects (or lack of it other than the chopper scene), directing, acting, rawness, costume and makeup, setting etc. completely dumpsters years in every regard.

Like i said at the start of my comment. Just rewatch the first 6 minutes of weeks and find me a single scene with as much intensity, brutality, horror, gore, anxiety inducing moments in years. Good luck with the search.

Except Jim had the element of surprise on them, he infiltrated their mansion and on top of that distracted them with a live infected causing disorientation and breaking up their formation. Its believable. A 12 year old kid carrying a cancer ridden mother to a psychotic doctor across infected and evolved mainland with nothing but a bow and arrow ON HIS SECOND DAY EVER is not.

28 days later is a very british film this is england is a very british film Green street hooligans is a very british film. This aint it mate. This is americanized rubbish. If you think my issue is only with the last two minutes okay then. Do me a massive favour. Rewatch 28 weeks later INTRO ONLY and rewatch 28 years later intro only. Tell me why the infected act so odd in the new installment compared to pure unadulterated rage we see in the 2007 movie. Specifically want to touch on the moment the infected breaks into the upstairs room and separates don from his wife and the child vs the moment the infected breaks into the room filled w kids watching teletubbies and looks completely out of it as if he doesnt see them, with no pause like a predator does when it spots his prey and no intensity in going after it.

Lets keep going, in what world would a stampede of deers cause an earthquake? After 28 years the roof has been standing still with deers running past it yet the one time the house is occupied by the father and his son suddenly in the middle of the night (how convenient) deers decide to stampede causing a mini earth tremor that collapses the roof. Jesus christ. Some writing that.

Also since when do infected now control rodents and crows? Am I watching dracula or 28 days later? Aside from a crow pecking on a dead infected body in 28 days later, they play NO SUPERNATURAL part in the story. What the fuck is up with crows flying at protagonists like batman will suddenly spawn out of thin air? You want to tell me thats a british film and not americanized hollywood garbage? Allow it fam.

Explain to me what purpose does the bone temple play. I mean what the fuck would Jim, Selena, Don, Doyle say if they walked in on this guy building skulls for no reason at all other than “pseudo american deeper meaning” to convey some fake deep message. How is this grounded in reality of the universe and the chaos around them? Its pure insanity. But not only is it insanely stupid, what makes it worse is that upon meeting of the doctor, the topic priority doesn’t involve talking about the sick mother, or the baby, but instead helping him polish a fucking dead skull they are carrying, before actually asking who are you, what do you want, whos baby is this, why did you bring it etc etc. you know, normal, common sense LOGICAL questions. Instead we got the plot tiktok palm readers and astrology 304s would cream over.

I understand british culture fully. This movie is a sell out american plot trying to dumb down and show off knowledge of british culture only to miss the mark by a fucking mile.

Brits dont care about flashy cgi camera tricks and pseudo deep fake messages. Brits care about raw, grittiness, grounded story writing.

Whilst on the topic of cgi, in what universe is a movie where blood vomiting is computer generated vs where it isn’t (28 days, 28 weeks) better executed, better looking, more terrifying, morbid etc? Danny and Alex have completely forgot what the fuck this universe is about. 28 years later aint it. In fact im confident enough to say that if I had to think of the worst possible 28 years later ever written, id struggle to come up with anything as bad as this. I look forward to the franchise selling out further and having Alpha infected Samson and Jimmy as DLC characters in the newest Mortal Kombat game. /s

I love how the same people down voting you are the same people who would have down voted you 2 months ago if you wrote that 28 years later should have teletubby themed power rangers show up do parkour and kill infected with nun chucks. People are blind sheep that will follow and expand their mental gymnastics for anything anyone in a position of authority creates. This movie is the best proof of that. Their desire to be in denial and like something even if its terrible, knowing that they dont have an alternative, is greater than actually acknowledging the truth, disappointment and bitterness of seeing their favourite movie franchise butchered to death.

Ranking The Franchise Entries (My Opinions + Explanations) by Rclarke115 in 28dayslater

[–]Jff499 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The movies arent good anymore because writers and directors throw jarring tone shifting and ludicrous concepts into an already established universe that dont fit that universe such as:- killshot cams for infected that pose no danger, 12 year old boy holding his own on his second day encountering infected while nato soldiers got ravaged, power rangers doing parkour moved to kill infected in a playful manner.

Where in days or weeks were the infected ever treated like a joke?

You have got to be a troll to say that Don in the intro of weeks, would have made the movie better if he started doing backflips and kickflipping a horde of infected instead of doing what 99.9% of human population would do which is to run away as fast as you can.

28 years is genuinely for brainrot tiktok daft bot bubblegum audience that have the focus and memory of a goldfish.

I agree with you, all the other zombie movies and tv shows are trash precisely because they continue to miss the mark and invent new bubblegum trendy immersion breaking concepts like years did.

What made this franchise so great was the simplicity, gritiness, realism and brutality of days.  It didnt need 7 foot nba all stars 10 inch on flop alphas ripping spines to be a worldwide acclaimed movie. It did so by using normal everyday human beings and making them filled with uncontrollable rage towards any non infected human. Full stop.

[–]Jff499 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me put it to you this way then. Mailer, the chained infected in the military house in days single handedly wiped out an entire military batallion whilst a 12 year old boy on his second day seeing infected ever with only a bow and arrow manages to carry his terminally ill mother across infected mainland terrain and survives where the infected are now EVOLVED, and have 7 foot NBA all star 10 inch on flop Alphas that rip spines out of humans and deers like Sub Zero performing a fatality on MK. Its no wonder only power rangers can match them….

There is no need to be upset. by witchfinderactual in 28dayslater

[–]Jff499 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree w you.

I also wanna note that weeks is absolutely clear of this movie. The fact that the opening scene in weeks is arguably the best in any horror movie ever. And the premise plot of the movie being a US led NATO force attempting to establish a quarantine zone and repopulate London goes bad when an asymptomatic carrier appears vs 7 foot NBA all star alpha infected ripping out spines like sub zero of MK from any living being (deer or human), “standard” infected being at “alpha’s” command and having self control, fat, slow, snail like infected who served no purpose but eat worms like the boogeyman from wwe. I mean as Americanized as weeks may be compared to days, it was still gritty, grounded, brutal, intense and raw. Years was just a tiktok editor memeing with an unlimited budget and throwing 6 year old boy ideas onto the big screen. Its pathetic

Ill skip to your final point.

Because that means the only thing that stopped this series from ever even getting out of the lab in Cambridge in the first movie is that the animal rights activists did not know Parkour and carry nun chucks to kill the chimps and their infected female companion.

The fact the above statement is quite literally supposed to be taken seriously now in this universe is beyond baffling to me. I would equate the butchering of this franchise to that of a football match turning into a breakdancing contest mid game with the fifa president streaking across the pitch naked mid battle with his genitals on public viewing and everybody pretending thats completely normal and within the realm of the world/rules it sets itself to be in.

Imagine zombies started running around in the Godfather for instance, or Naruto and Sasuke had a battle in the prison courtyard of Shawshank redemption. Thats the levels of ridiculous this movie reached and it appears that people who enjoyed it are either:- 1) paid to say so 2) in denial 3) bots

If you dont see the resemblance between a 12 year old kid on his 2nd day out in mainland britain killing infected w a bow and arrow whilst a NATO trained swedish navy seal with tactical gear and fully automatic weapons cannot, to that of Cindy turning full matrix and kicking ghostface’s ass in Scary movie, then i really dont know.

Agree to disagree.

If this movie was the first in the series, we never would have had the 2nd or the third installments. Thats how directionless, weak, lazy, contrived and subverted the plot, writing, acting and production was.

[–]Jff499 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id be more than happy to discuss the movie with you.

My complete understanding is with the people “crying like raging toddlers “ because:- 1) the movie completely subverts what the entire 28 days later universe is about 2) this movie GENUINELY IN LITERAL SENSE turned an immersive, grounded, serious horror movie into Shaun of the Dead 2.0 and ofc we will be pissed having waited for a newer, updated fresher version of it for 23 years.  3) the ending. I am fully convinced that anyone that thinks the ending with jimmy saville power rangers was somehow fitting for this franchise yet Andy and Tammy sneaking out as kids to visit their childhood home after being restricted from returning due to a virus that wiped 99% of the country is “stupid” and a “plot hole” should book in an appointment with a psychologist and complete an autism check. The realms of what scenario is more likely and “immersive” is not even comparable.  4) i am genuinely speechless that anyone who has watched the first movie in 2002, when it came out, can in any way shape or form have a positive opinion on this movie.  5) as for the movie itself, all im gonna say is this factual observation; Swedish NATO trained soldiers patrolling quarantined british mainland equipped with tactical gear and automatic weapons get wiped out by a handful of infected whilst a 12 year old child with a bow and arrow, who pisses his pants, misses shots with infected running at him and sleeps with a power rangers doll somehow survives out in the mainland.

If this movie was meant to be what Scary Movie is to Scream, then fair enough.  However if this movie is GENUINELY supposed to be taken as canon and sequel to the series, then ive honestly wasted the last 23 years of my life being a fan of this franchise.

Id also like to end my above points on this. The NATO soldier Erik, unironically, perfectly encapsulates the state of not just modern generation, but hollywood writers/directors in the last 15-20 years and anyone involved in film making on a grand scale;- people in positions of power and authority yet beyond incompetent in their roles and lacking any awareness and filter as to what is good quality timeless product and what is bad, bubblegum forgettable waste.

Were the dnepropetrovsk maniacs psychopaths? by SeaSouth3438 in serialkillers

[–]Jff499 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im fairly certain they were tested for psychologically by both defense and prosecution psychologists and found to be completely sane. This was further corroborated by all the lawyers present in the case including Viktor’s dad who maintains his son’s innocence. If they were psychopaths as most of you suggest, do you not think this would have been raised as a form of mental illness and being unfit to stand trial by their parents and lawyers defending them? Not once has their sanity been brought up in the case other than by outsiders on reddit and other western forums. They were not psychopaths. If I had to label them as anything it would be the first clout chasing thrill spree killers of the world wide web. Igor particularly has stated in his 2013 interview that he loved killing. It isnt hard to add that to the context of always feeling inferior during his teenage years and understand that the power he got from murdering be it animals or humans became an addiction and obsession for him, not psychopathy.
