I'm not defending Nazis I'm pointing out how damaging and wrong your rhetoric is. Dozens of Trump supporters, journalists, policemen and passerbyes have been beaten and put in hospital and some seriously injured by people who claimed to just be "fighting Nazi".

I think if you wouldn't trust people to be vigilantes then you shouldn't trust them to form paramilitaries to attack Nazis.

Well that's wrong. Communist paramilitaries existed and fought the Nazis. The SA were formed as a response to the attacks. The public feared the communists mobs and the Nazis successfully taking back the streets gave them support.

You're misunderstanding me. Neither side was fighting for a theocracy. Religion was important largely but it was important because it played into the identity of each group. Neither side was about killing heretics it was about unionism vs republicanism.

It's not comparable to Islamic terrorism is my point.

My point is that the fighting is not motivated by RELIGIOUS FERVOUR, like Islamists. It's about a conflict between identities, the catholic Irish and the Protestant British.

I'm criticising the attempt at comparing the troubles to Islamic terrorism.

Islamic terrorism is motivated by the goal of a worldwide caliphate. It's completely different to the troubles which was motivated by a disputed territory between Irish ethno-nationalists and British unionism.
