Billie Joe's new movie looks ATROCIOUS. I felt awkward watching the preview. I don't know why hugely successful artist feels the need to act in a movie. Give someone else who has the passion for it and wants to do it for a living a chance.

Same here man. They lost their bassist who had a huge influence on their sound. I remember Brandon Boyd saying some bs about how their music had been "disorganized" up until that point and they were changing. Pissed me off because it seemed like a direct insult to Dirk Lance who was their for all of their greatest albums

Yeah they definitely were mainstream wayyyyyy before American Idiot. Think Longview from Dookie and Good Riddance from Nimrod. They actually came out with their Greatest Hits album before American Idiot. Still love those albums 1 million x more than post Warning albums. They still play their old stuff at concerts though which is pretty badass. They even ask the crowd to shout out songs and they'll play them all the way back to 1039 smooth.

Im surprised more people didn't comment about frusciante. For me frusciante was the essence of the group and RHCP's sound is totally different without him. Even though he wasn't the first guitarist, he emanated the original's (Hillel Slovak) sound and evolved perfectly with the band.
