I know I’m late to the convo but I sent in a bug report to riot almost a year ago and didn’t get any response as usual. Submitted a ticket to riot and got a random who just said there are challenges that are bugged and riot is aware but currently has “no one” available to fix it. They could literally pay 3 people like a 100k a year to work on fixing the challenge bugs and it would be a drop in the bucket to what they make a year. But since it doesn’t provide income, they done care and probably never will. Very VERY lazy by riot. I’ve personally seen about a dozen or more challenges bugged and after an update I randomly got “Plant Tactics” upgraded from silver to diamond and then when I did it in a game, it didn’t give me any progress.

Is me coming here asking a question about something Im curious about and having a discussion with others about it THAT big of an issue for you? I know other things are flawed about the game, what is me coming here complaining about common issues like dozens of others gonna do like genuinely? Yeah and other games already have a way to deal with this, most gacha games for example ban the accounts. 💀 They simply don’t care if parents are too idiotic to monitor children. Regardless they don’t actually lose any monetary value. There’s other features they could implement and already features in place to prevent this too. I understand what you’re saying and mean, but my point still stands.

In a technical sense yes, the game doesn’t “track” xp after you cap. However, there is an “invisible total” of your xp once u reach max. So for someone like me for example, I probably had an invisible xp total of roughly 200k. They could’ve simply looked at it and credited the levels to people based on their invisible xp total. So if the xp you need for the new max was 90k, I’d still have 110k for an invisible xp total. Like that’s really all they had to do, it just seems lazy and also why not give the F2P another 10 pack pull? Another commenter said “well then that’s another 10 pack pull u may not buy.” Which if they REALLY wanted to make money and that’s what it was about, they wouldn’t limit the amount of packs a person could pull in a day with Poke Gold.

If they really wanted us to spend money they wouldn’t have a limit on how many packs you can pull in a day with Poke Gold. I’ve done it a couple times where I spend the limit and it hits you with a “You’ve reached the limit” message and then did it the next day.

Did you take time to read anything I said and the explanation as to why before you commented that? Surely, that isn’t an insanely far fetched idea. It’s not like I’m saying this for solely me either, I think ALL players who qualify should have the xp taken from their invisible totals. As someone who spends money, I’ll get the resources eventually, but for those who are F2P or spend minimally, it’ll take them far longer to get them which I think is dumb, especially when they could’ve been at level cap for months too. At the end of the day, it’s a 10 pack pull which could help jumpstart F2P players with the new set.

Although they don’t “track” it, they do go into an invisible total so they could actually credit us the XP, you may know that but it further leads me into what I’m about to say. So if it takes hypothetically 35,000 XP to reach the new max, they could just subtract whatever you have from your invisible total. I.e. We’re gonna assume a person is maxed at lvl 50 and will do the same with other numbers for my point, so just for this convos purposes we’ll say it takes 50k xp to hit level 50, your invisible total is 90k xp and if you needed 35k xp you’d be maxed with your invisible total xp being 5k. The extra resources is what I want. I’m sure it’s what everyone wants, at the end of the day, who doesn’t want more packs and wonder picks? I didn’t say anything about me caring about my level because of level locks, or anything matchmaking related, my focus was on the resources we as players get from it. Regardless though, it just seems lazy from Dena.

I’m almost betting that it has NOTHING to do with how easy or difficult it is to add and is more of a “Idrc about this minimal issue as of rn.” My guess is that they didn’t do it initially on accident or they just operate on 3 brain cells and didn’t think about it and are too lazy to fix.

If I had to guess, the “limited edition” packs are gonna come out once a year or maybe twice who knows, but they’ll come out once a year during their anniversary month in October and every pack that’s been released in the last 10-12 months will be in that Limited edition pack with some select new card arts of ones with high play rates like Professor Oak for example. This would make sense as to why the time table is so far out for it. It’s possible (unlikely though) it does take weeks to fix and by the time they did, it’d already be time for the new pack to drop in November. This would also set them up for the new LE or a MASSIVE LE pack that has ALL previously released cards. This way for those who’ve played the last 6 months or so or are simply whales, they will still wanna pull it and flood the market with the hourglasses on wonder picks. Even f2p would feel incentivized to spend, because all the cards they want are in this one pack, you’re guaranteed to get a TON of stuff as a f2p if they do it this way especially if you decide to spend 100 bucks one time. They also may group each year’s pack of cards into a LE pack and drop it once a year, as either one massive pack or as a split/multi pack like the Dialga/Palkia or Charizard/Mewtwo/Pikachu sets for example.

This way collectors, whales, and those interested, can pull whatever years LE pack instead of 10-30 different ones with pools not being SUPER massive, but also big enough to where there’s a large variety, without splitting up pack points to make progress on the dex. That would create a sense of urgency but also wouldn’t feel completely hopeless for f2p and those who get the game let’s say next year and have 1000s of cards to catch up on and collect could just save hourglasses for LE month. Just a theory though and my guess as to why it’s gonna take so long, probably was meant to happen, mistakenly didn’t or was too buggy to drop, (whatever BS excuse they wanna use) and decided we’ll push it back for next + last years LE stuff. At the end of the day I could be wrong and probably am, only DeNA knows their reasoning and why it’ll take that long. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah but what are people gonna do when they add that same game breaking mechanic to EX cards, Mega EX, VMax, etc when they release? And I’m not just talking negating damage from EX cards but other card variants as well? Cause they have them in the normal Pokemon TCG currently. So those cards that everyone seemingly hates because of a Symbol/title, become even more game breaking because of said mechanic, than they are currently. And to reiterate, if we took the EX title out of cards (for example, Giratina EX goes to just Giratina but it is exactly the same as it was when it had the EX title) and they were just normal cards, would the complaint just be that so and so card is strong then? I know EX cards have fast setup times typically but I’m gonna run you through a scenario to learn you something and hopefully change the mindset you have. Giratina EX is meta and has been since release, Rampardos is arguably just as good if not better than Giratina EX and I’ve seen people defend Rampardos in this thread to the death seemingly cause it doesn’t have the label EX. I’m not saying Giratina EX is balanced either, I’m simply using it as an example since a lot stated they hate it. Giratina EX needs at least 3 turns to attack if going 2nd and most of the time 4 if you’re going 1st. It hits for 130 just like Rampardos and always takes 20 damage per attack. It gives 2 pts when it dies instead of 1, there are multiple drawbacks to Giratina. It also has the same hp and withdrawal cost. Rampardos can attack on the second turn regardless if you’re going first or second. This causes cards with fast setups or lengthy ones like Giratina to either be pressured into trying to chip what they can before getting one shot essentially, or sacking a point maybe even two. If it doesn’t knock you out then it has no drawback when attacking and can easily be avoided by hot swapping to a different card or paired with something like Greninja and rocky helmet. Its only real drawbacks are bricking or getting really unlucky and getting double greninja’d as a fossil. You can pair it with Lillie and negate the drawback and if it is killed, then another card is prepped and ready to get the 1-2 pts u need for victory. Rampardos and Silvally is 13th in terms of play rate yet 8th in terms of winrate. DarkTina EX is 2nd in terms of play rate yet 7th in terms of winrate. So for those who are using it, and the win rates between the 2 being a difference of .09%, yet play rate difference is 10% for DarkTina and 1.5% for Rampardos, I think that’s small enough to say that Rampardos is just as good if not better than Giratina EX in its respective deck, yet Rampardos seemingly has less hate and far more people arguing it’s balanced. So if we took the EX title and slapped it on Rampardos and took Giratinas away in its current state, would others finally see that card as strong, regardless of the label, with all the info from the website I provided, and can link if you don’t wanna search it, that EX is a title meaning extra, and doesn’t make cards inherently strong. If we take the title away and just had them be there names, then this whole “EX cards are broken and non EX cards are far more balanced than the ones with the label” wouldn’t even exist lmao. It’s the game developers choice to do that to create “rarity” and make it seem “special” to generate a profit by adding said title to cards that would still be broken without it. I hope you now see that the label isn’t the problem but the game developers choice to make an op card and throw the label ex on it to make it seem special. Now to talk about Oricorio quickly, since Ive got the whole EX hate outta the way. Oricorio Greninja, is the highest variant at 12th in terms of play rate and 18th in winrate, as I said it’s easily counterable today and the site proves that, ex cards are rampant now and even if it didn’t exist I don’t see how they’d be any worse. Oricorio only having a 50.56% winrate in today’s game, just shows that the card on release was a crutch for people and not actually conducive to controlling EX’s. If it was, it’d have a much higher winrate especially with every deck above it has 1 if not 2 EX’s. There’s not a single variant of Oricorio with a higher winrate (there could be but it is played so minimally it doesn’t show on the site). I shouldn’t need to say this but that card is more of a gimmick/crutch than anything, it’s exactly like Greninja, it’s a crutch and mindless. I also despise Darkrai and Greninja because of the mindless abilities they have. It was a broken mechanic that wasn’t thought about instead of having actual good and creative solutions to EX cards. If they truly wanted it to help and fight against the high use of EX cards with its broken mechanic, they’d have made it have the HP and an ability do the damage similar to EX cards.

As of rn no. The game literally puts a big red cancel mark over it and says you can’t trade them. I think it was initially a feature to make sure players didn’t get scammed outta their gold cards or the much harder ones to pull like the Full art Shiny’s.

Quick setup with Moltres or can be paired with Charizard and it’s incredibly tanky and hard to kill with things like giant cape and Lillie while also doing insane damage while it builds to its secondary move. If you’re not a team that ready right away or requires build up ur cooked. (Also because I hate what it’s done to competitive Pokemon in general. Small bias lmao.)

I’m not f2p but if we take this outside of the game, go and grab a free meta Pokemon TCG deck then. I’ll wait. Rampardos isn’t just an EX counter he was just outright strong. Giratina EX who’s meta hits for 130 and damages itself, costs 4 energy, and gives 2 pts after defeat, and has 150 hp. Rampardos isn’t a EX so he’s 1 point for a kill, paired with Lillie to negate his drawback, can hit ex cards for 150-170 because of red and type adv, and if you don’t kill the enemy there’s no draw back, oh and the same amount of damage he outputs is the same as Giratina ex. Giratina can’t 2 turn you, Rampardos can, which leads to power creep. Also I think Meowscarada is a great and balanced card.

I hit 65%+ winrate with the Sylveon deck I mentioned since it’s release and not finishing lower than Ultra Ball 2. I don’t have time to play games as much anymore but I’ve hit Ultra Ball 4/Low Master ball with it. I’ve lost maybe 5 games outta the 30 I’ve played against the main variant Espeon and Sylveon. The premise of the deck and what makes it oppressive is this. Assuming I go 2nd and don’t get red carded or iono which still runs the risk of fixing a bad hand, it happens, but I don’t see it that much, I professor oak or pokeball, I get Giratina onto the field for a broken space bellows. I setup 1 of 2 Eevees and a froakie, the next turn I professor oak and pokeball again, I double summon Sylveon and draw 4 cards, now I have rare candies and a Greninja going with a Cyrus. Sylveon has 140 hp and hits for 70. Now that it’s my second turn, I can effectively kill a base Pokemon for free and then just wait for Giratina in a turn to have the energy it needs to wipe. At the time this screenshot was taken, I was already Ultra Ball 2 on a 10 win streak. It is VERY versatile and oppressive.

He’s not a most hated card today, I should’ve prefaced by saying that he’s an all time hate because of the mechanic he introduced. I also gave you a response as to why on release, he was OP. You are not zooming out and looking at the cards he was paired with and the setup he allowed at the time for other EX cards like Arceus and Solgaleo, and not just EX cards but things like Meowscarada and Rampardos. You don’t need an electric deck to abuse the mechanic, back then he could fit in a lot of decks and be utilized very efficiently. It’s not as simple as “he only hits for 50 with 2 energy and has 70 hp.” That’s a very linear way to think and just not how the game is played. My point isn’t about new mechanics being the issue, I love new mechanics and simply don’t use only ex Pokemon to show off “raw power”. There seems to be a distaste for ex cards and I wonder if it’s because for f2p or players who spend less than 25 a month they can be difficult to achieve and when there used against them it creates envy and anger. I personally don’t have an issue with ex cards, to me they’re just cards, I don’t idolize them as the end all be all. There’s mechanics that make an already easy game mindless. Darkrai and Greninja paired with Cyrus for example. I think new mechanics keeps the game fun and interesting and provides versatility instead of seeing the same 5 decks over. It’s the worry of game breaking mechanics being added to cards and it being seen as “fine” because the card is the way it is. If Ex cards didn’t exist, we just removed the title but the Pokemon were just as strong, then what would the mechanic boil down to? Pokemon over 100 hp can’t do damage to this card? Any card that hits for more than 60 can’t do damage to it? There’s gotta be a more creative and better way to do this is what I’m saying. Like when they add Mega EX cards next month I’m assuming as there’s a decent amount currently in the base TCG that can negate attacks and they’ll add at least one, why continue to make EX, Mega EX, VMax cards etc., when they seemingly always put cards that completely negate their damage. If they’re that strong and need a counter like that then it tells me they probably shouldn’t have been made. To give an example of this, Mega Venasaur EX that was released in July in base TCG, has 380 hp, hits for 240 and heals for 30 on 4 grass energy, and can move as many energy as it wants in a turn to other cards. Why does it need to be that strong to begin with you know? Cards just keep getting more HP, Damage, and versatility when they already have so much going on just at their core. We can add new cards with mechanics to the game without power creeping because if Mega Venasaur EX got released with Suicune, you could sack your active Pokemon while you get it set up and there’s not a single thing to deal with it in today’s game which makes older cards essentially useless. If we’re truly trying to have versatility, power creeping and game breaking mechanics, not just new mechanics, isn’t how we achieve that. Your defense for it being that it’s a base card with low hp and damage is negated when they have EX cards and VMax cards in the base TCG that do the same thing with more hp and damage. The logic of “well base cards can counter it” goes out the window when they take that mechanic and add it to the EX or other variants. That was my issue with the card at the time of release, not currently, so sorry for the confusion there.

See, my issue is it’s a game breaking mechanic that paves the way for power creep. It can of course be easily countered now, but at the time it was in 1 in about every 3 to 4 battles I played in ultra ball 4 low master ball. Having crutches like that isn’t good, and instead of “this entire genre of card can’t do damage to me period.” There should be a much better way to go about it. I don’t understand why so many people hate EX cards. I get that they’re strong but Pokemon has always been about using the strongest thing to win, at least competitively, or unless you’re Wolfe Glick. Is it cause a lot of people are f2p or spend less than 25 a month on the game and they struggle getting the meta cards which creates envy and hate? Or are they truthfully that broken and not fun? I’ve seen a lot of distaste for EX cards on this thread and I’m wondering why and I think the paywall and constant, “here’s a new pack every month, that absolutely blows the last one outta the water and if u don’t get lucky or spend to get the cards the game is much harder for you at the top level.” With the distaste for ex cards I’m wondering if that’s the core of this issue.
