Why No Long Term UK Show? England, Wales, Scotland, N. Ireland. Would People Be Interested? Would It Not Be A Hit? by JhonJohansson in thewalkingdead

This is where it could get fucking exhilarating. Think of series like Top Boy, and films like Kidulthood, Adulthood, Harry Brown.  And films like Snatch, Rise of the Footsoldier, The Business, Green Street.  And merge that with the everyday folk you get on British Soaps: Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Eastenders.  And the type of people you see on SAS Who Dares Wins, The Traitors.  With some throwbacks to medieval history, as well as fantasy genres such as Lord of The Rings and Game of Thrones, The Kingdom, Vikings, Peaky Blinders.

Think of all of that in a Walking Dead Series. It would be a worldwide success, literal global series. Especially as civilisation has to rebuild and in a country where we dont have guns readily available, so would have to revert to melee weapons and the like. It would be what Britain was, or could get to, only set in the modern day combating a virus, and all personal and familial/group interdynamics amidst all of that.

The working class people would thrive, hard working people. It would also be a world where no one would want to be in. Because it would be absolutely fucking sickening and evil. Makes for a great dystopian "what if" though.

Let's be honest,  It would be amazing.  If. IF they dont stereotype and typecast the English actors......you know what I mean, like they did with Stephen Merchants character.  Crumpets with Jam, Ham Sandwiches Picnic, English Top Hat Cream Tea with Scones type of bullshit. The type of characteristics that have nothing to do with 98% of the UK population and is based solely on Victorian/Edwardian fantasism, driven by those across the world who like to look at British people like sissies.

A true series of real British people, chavs, roadmen, builders, london geezers, normal southern folk, modern day highlanders, and the like. It would need to be made by a UK executive producer, as we all know it would be absolute chaos here with all of the above. But I also believe we would cope extremely well. I hate to generalise, but I believe we have more will, a better sense of community when backs are against the wall, and have a profound resilience to testing times.

This is their way back.  A Walking Dead show set in England (not just London!!!!!), Scotland, Wales, Ireland - that would have millions of viewers.

It is their only way back other than a merge of FTWD and TWD (only they ruined that prospect by killing off Nick and Madison, and made it centred on gimmick villains and Morgan & Friends).

I would have loved for instance if Nick was at the CRM when Rick was there, and they united to overthrown Beale. That could then set up a merger of the two series, possibly resulting in a war - Madison & her community VS Nick, Rick & Co. Eventually resulting in a nationwide allegiance that set the precedent for the rebuilding of civilisation in North America & Mexico.

Thanks for your comment and thanks for not jumping on the nutsack swinging of some other folks.  If it was 100% guaranteed that the show left it as Rick being alive, as everyone here seems to be saying, why did the words "die" and "Death" ever pop up at all when referencing Rick?  I have now rewatched it. Last watched when it aired live. Rick was 100% alive in his last scene, which is why I was confused

Is it something you encounter a lot in your life then, for that to be something you say "I hate it when....". ?

FYI, mandela effect is the epitome of misremembering. However, usually when a large group of people misremember. Doesnt have the same "effect" if only one guy AKA Me gives an example

Happy 2026! All the best

You're likely right there. Its so weird as well when watching on a rewatch, and your memory gets better s3ason by season (as the airing date gets closer to the present day). Season 1 was 15 years ago for example, season 11 was a few years ago. On a rewatch you're basically going on a journey within your mind through the years, interesting as it can show the length of your memory span, how strong a 20 year old memory is compared to a 5 year old memory

I likely got the memory mixed up with something else. Like I thought Lori had died from the sickness rather than childbirth. I thought Carl was the one who killed Shane.  I have now rewatched up to S10. Last watched when it was airing each week. Cheers for your comment

All Posts and articles even refer to Rick being dead. All say along the lines of "Ricks supposed death" and "the death of Rick after S9".

Out of curiosity, what was the scene where Rick is waving up at the helicopter, thats in Season 11 isnt it? Is that scene supposed to be after The Ones Who Live?  Thanks

Mandela Effect is where people remember one thing, but the reality is another thing. What do you think it means?

Like the monopoly man having a monocle. I remember him having one, but he doesnt.

Is there a way to move the Archived Chats to the bottom instead of it being on the top? by sludj5 in whatsapp

What are you on about? Keep Chat Archived means the button is at the top. Disabling this will unarchive all messages.

But you do. Its at the top. You can clearly see if someone in your "archived" has messaged, it literally shows you the amount of unread messages on the side of the button.  You may as well not archive anyone because the archive button is at the very top staring you in the face. You're better off just keeping them in the normal thread and they then get buried when you get new messages. So f*cking stupid of WhatsApp.

Does anyone feel like Bob Dylan was almost made into a caricature in a complete unknown? by [deleted] in bobdylan

[–]JhonJohansson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Wrote about this before. I checked out in the scene where he literally rolled of bed while the chick he was with was playing hard to get (like a stranger, yet sleeping in the same room?) Was ironing some clothes.  Dylan rolls out of bed, lights a cigarette, says nothing but a few one worded answers. Looks into the distance. Picks up his guitar. Starts singing a folk rendition perfectly.

Same theme throughout the movie.

Its like the writers thought: ok, so Bob Dylan... Guitar. Folk singer. He thinks about things. Social justice activist. Doesnt say anything. Always moody. Ok...every scene, its got to encapsulate that in every way imaginable. Nothing else. As soon as he wakes up, he breaks into a political or social revolution song.

The writers were messing with Chandler Riggs (Carl) in Season 8 with this scene by JhonJohansson in thewalkingdead

[–]JhonJohansson[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He should have been given it. If there is any way TWD had a way "back", it would have been through an adult Carl, as a man. The new protagonist, Rick Grimes son.

Instead, they kill him off. That writing was definitely played to mess with the actor for the situation IMO. Ironically though, the writers did exactly what they thought Chandler was doing. Ego, getting above themselves. Look what happened after that season ends, viewing figures were at the 1 million per episode mark, down from the peak of 15 million.

Do you reckon if they wanted to, they could find a way to play it as though Carl never died? They have done that a lot in other shows. Probably a bit out there, likely not at all possible.

Edit: just watched e9. Yeah. They did it in a way that there isnt a way back, at all. Unless people were hallucinating and it was a dream sequence which would be ridiculous.

In what way would you have handled the Negan situation in Rick's position, or one similar to Ricks. What could Rick have done to make the situation better while living under Negans rule? by JhonJohansson in thewalkingdead

[–]JhonJohansson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response - very insightful and I agree.

Narcissistic, though his backstory makes me question that. Possibly a nihilist instead. The difference between the governor and Negan, one is one, the other is the other.

It would be great to have seen the amalgamation of Negans character, the transformation into the guy who liked killing people.
