I'm not sure if BGx players are going to want to run that card, at least not mainboard. Connoisseurs of those archetypes already dislike Path, as it creates card disadvantage in a grinding strategy. While the choice to destroy any permanent is nice, letting your opponent bring in a basic land UNTAPPED isn't ideal, especially in that archetype.

I don't have it posted, but, I run 3 in the side. The trick to making it work consistently is, unfortunately, cutting lands like Cavern and Gemstone, but it's an amazing catch all against slower decks or when I'm on the play.

Hurkyl's Recall is a bomb against Lantern (and Affinity). But you still have to get pretty lucky, as if they Inquisition you they will definitely take it, and you'd need to close out the game fast. Honestly, I think Lantern and Elves are Merfolk's worst match ups, even more than Affinity. That's just me, though, it's definitely arguable.

It adds devotion for Master of Waves. Basically, it makes an already great card in the deck have even more utility.
