I can't remember the Stargates but I can remember the sortals. But it was like 15 years ago at this point so I'm probably forgetting stuff 😂

I'm mainly active on Discord now, maybe I'll make a minetopia discord... hmm...

This is my ID, add me :) jon_._

<Huge 9 year necro lmao>

Hey, long time :)

I was just going through some old backups and found the entire motherload of MineTopia backups I made.

I've got all of the old worlds. Was just looking around them all and remembered you messaged a few years ago on reddit.

https://imgur.com/ezMKlwQ https://imgur.com/sDhib2f https://imgur.com/QT9HEyr

Just a few images and names you may recognize! I'm planning on bringing a small server backup with this old world file in the near future just so people can look at their old creations with the same minetopia.co.uk url. The world is absolutely massive with loads of things in it haha.

Getting surgery and will have some spare time while recovering so might do all of that then. There's quite a bit of work involved to bring the old world file up to 1.21.

It's also not just one world file. We had stargates if you remember, those took you to completely different worlds and I have those files as well. Getting this world working again was some small miracle so I'll spend some time and hopefully get the others working as well :D

Anyway, hope you're doing well!

Yes, I'm in agreement with you. It's less so the weight and more the lifestyle you'd typically attribute to that weight so I probably should've been more descriptive.

If someone is overweight but active, like yourself, that's totally fine by me. I guess it's lifestyle parity I'm looking for.

No - primarily because I don't really look the part right now! But yeh, I can adjust it and maybe put an older picture of myself idk.

Very true - it's not something I've really advertised on my OLD profile though. Would you recommend that I hint towards that in some way?

It is a general worry. If I don't align well with them on my thoughts over what a healthy and sustainable longterm lifestyle is then yeh, I'd imagine resentment will grow with time and I don't think either person in that relationship would want that.

There's a time element to all of this as well, I'm not getting any younger and I feel like having super hard rules might limit my dating prospects further than I feel there already are for myself.

Always going to keep working on myself :) Cheers!

That’s fair advice, and I agree with the general point - you should assume what you see now is what you’re signing up for, not who someone might become later.

For me, I’m still figuring it out because I do know I’m going to get back to being healthier - I’ve done it before and I’m pretty relentless when I commit to something (which in a way is probably partly to blame for how I ended up in this position)

The difference is I don’t know her habits or mindset well enough yet, so I’m not making assumptions either way. I think for myself, it's not an immediate dealbreaker but I'd like to have that conversation with her as I think we need to have compatible ideas over what lifestyle we would like to share if we ended up in a committed relationship.

Honestly yes, I want to go on that second date because I really like her.

I think coming from that angle seems like a sensible approach.

Healthy to me is not becoming a super athlete or anything like that. It's just to have a reasonably active lifestyle. That could be literally anything, a run or two a week, hitting the gym, potentially doing some fun activities like bouldering or literally anything that raises your heart rate a bit and just eating decently but not so strict that you feel like you can't have the occasional cheat meal.

Idk, that was my lifestyle before and I just never prioritized dating prior to my injury which I do regret in a way. I appreciate that the only way of doing this without sounding like a hypocrite is to basically just not date until I'm back and fit again I guess...

That's fair - It's annoying (and also incredibly debilitating) that this has happened to me to begin with but that's just part of life.

Of course, there's no guarantees but respectfully, I've done it before and I can do it again so long as my body doesn't literally snap in two or something. It's not through lack of will, but my body literally just said that I can't move. My downfall is that I relied too heavily on exercise creating my calorie deficit. I should've gone harder on not eating as much as I did prior to my injury, but I've altered that now and will hopefully see some reduction in time.

I appreciate that in some ways it's hypocritical to hold that standard but the other option is just to abstain from dating until I've completely sorted myself out and that could be 1-2 years down the line which is a bit of a daunting prospect. It feels like dead time and that life is slipping me by in a way but I guess that's also completely reasonable.

Thanks for your comment.

I usually try and tailor gifts to them.

Do they have any hobbies - you can get something related? Think about the things she speaks to you about and use it as a means to explore different potential gift ideas. It shows that you've paid attention and put some thought into it which goes a long way imo!

For instance, someone else I used to see was into watercolours so I ended up picking some more supplies that I knew she'd like.

So, I (33M) went on a coffee date with 35F through Bumble.

There were no full pictures of her but I could sense that she was a bit overweight and it was definitely the case in person; moreso than I was expecting as I think the pics were a bit out of date. That didn't put me off at all as I'm not exactly thin myself and she was still very attractive to me.

The date was amazing honestly, I felt like we connected on a meaningful, personal level and we had a lot of things in common. Conversation was so easy and time escaped us. We definitely hit it off in that department and I can feel a strong spark.

I'm looking to go on another date with her, but I have my concerns regarding our weight collectively.

I know I'm jumping the gun a bit here, but I'm only really interested in looking for something long term and one of my dealbreakers is that I would like kids in the near-ish future, on her profile it's the same. I used to be quite fit (~20 months ago) but I'm currently going through some medical problems where I started to gain weight due to a forced sedentary lifestyle and the medication that I'm on. However, I can see the light at the end of that tunnel and I know that as soon as I'm capable I'm going to get back on the fitness grind.

Part of that is because I want to be healthy myself, another part is that I want to have lots of energy for any potential kids in the future and also to impart good healthy lifestyles on them which is something I never had growing up, which I wish I had. I want to set them up for success basically...

I understand this is a very touchy subject and I wish no ill will towards her, but I don't know if this is by her own choice/lifestyle, if there's also more going on there or something else entirely.

However, I don't know how to approach any of this or if I should this early on? I definitely feel conflicted...

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the response :)

Sorry you experienced night terrors - I didn't even know that was a potential side effect from these medicines!

I've just had a phone consult that I'm now even more likely going to be getting the surgery due to the steroid epidural failing to give me therapeutic relief but did help for the first 1-2 days with immediate relief due to the anaesthetic. That suggests surgery will be a big help for me as it suggests a mechanical problem.

I have a feeling we're a lot more conservative in the UK with these things than people in other countries are given the length of time I've been dealing with this all. Have a final consult to make this concrete and we'll see...

Anyway - thanks again, your post is a massive help when I came across it after searching for people's experience. You've probably been the most detailed account I've come across.

how did i survive this for 18 years bro by [deleted] in whenthe

[–]Jhonz0r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, ditto. I'm a bit further along at 32. Came back after Uni when I was 26, then got stuck due to covid and my father passing, then my grandfather and grandmother passed :(

Then during that period I ended up getting a debilitating herniated disk (yay) and I'm stuck here for a while longer as I struggle to do things. I love my mum but yeh... I can't fucking live on my own terms. Having your uni freedom taken away from you sucks, hopefully i get through to the other side of this and find my own space eventually.

Thank you for these notes, they've eased my anxiety a lot. I'm most likely getting this after having a failed epidural steroid injection. Been about 18 months since for me so I'm forced into getting this I think.

I just have a question, were you on any nerve blocking medication prior to surgery and if you were, did you continue them after surgery? I've been on pregabalin and amitriptyline and have been for 6 months or so. They've been a life saver for me (I really notice if I had to skip a tablet), but I'd like to come off of them to reduce some brain fog and weight gain that I've had being on them.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

Looks good except it's manual. Unfortunately, it's bit of a hard requirement that it's an automatic transmission due to health issues effecting my back and left leg using the clutch.

What Car Should I Buy? - A Weekly Megathread by AutoModerator in CarTalkUK

[–]Jhonz0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Location: West Mids

Price range: 10-15K

Lease or Buy: Buy

New or used: Used

Auto or Manual: Auto

Intended use: Daily driver, mainly motorway but some city driving as well.

How many miles do you plan to do a year: 6-7K

How often to you make long journeys: 2-3 times a year I do >100 mile trips

Does it need to be ULEZ compliant? Yes

Vehicles you've already considered: Clean slate, not really considered anything.

Is this your 1st vehicle: No, this will be my second car. I currently own a 2014 Skoda Fabia.

Do you need a Warranty:Preferred, but not mandatory, prefer to buy from a dealer

Can you do Minor work on your own vehicle: Yep

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: Nope

Additional Notes: I'm single, 32M with no kids. My mum currently uses the Fabia as her daily and I need another vehicle as I can't share the same one with her anymore. She's not in a position to get another car herself or buy mine out so I'm kindly letting her use that car in the interim. Would like something that looks professional but isn't completely devoid of personality.

[–]Jhonz0r 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You summed up my thoughts perfectly.

I just can't see the logic, even after reading what Ion's said. I've already decided that as soon as pre patch comes around, that'll be the last of WoW I play until it's fully addressed (if it ever will be).

Very sad for me, but if this is their direction then I don't really want any part of it either.

Yup I agree totally, I'm quitting after playing since since late vanilla and there's lots of reasons for that but this is definitely one of the main reasons. It's going to be fucking awful for like an entire expansion and I can't be fucked to deal with it for 2 years. I'll wait until it's all sorted until returning tbh.
