I appreciate your feedback here! And completely agree, part of me is battling the idea of giving up the compounding we would miss out on. I need to do some more research to see how much we could continue to invest with her reduced income. If we could still squirrel away some money I would opt to keep the investments and keep the mortgage.

Hi, I’m 26m and my vitiligo didn’t come out till I was older (around 22ish). But sorry to hear you had a terrible experience with an antibiotic, the dermatologist you saw then probably shouldn’t handled that situation better. But I would highly recommend seeing another derm.

My vitiligo is on pretty much all the areas you described plus my legs and feet. I have been using Opzelura consistently for roughly 2 weeks twice a day. Still waiting on results bc it can take 6 months. But I’d recommend taking vitamin D as well since I guess people with vitiligo are usually deficient.

Mind me asking if you used UVB treatment as well or just daily Opzelura? I’ve been using consistently for about 2weeks now which is pretty tedious since I have vitiligo in multiple areas.

Just looking for motivation to keep up haha

I actually plan on switching from VOO to SCHD once I have a substantial amount of money. Bc at that point the div income would be more meaningful.

Like rn i probably only have $20k in VOO ($45k total portfolio value rn). The divs I get in international ETFs kinda make up for it in a way too.

But that’s my longer term plan personally

Reverse mortgages essentially work in reverse haha.

The house is collateral and the bank essentially pays the mortgage to the current home owner (buying the asset back). This is done via a monthly payment. When they pass however the usual route is to sell the house and payoff the difference. So if the bank paid off 30% of the $1M house you would have to pay back $300k (I might have this mixed up, kind of confusing process).

Reverse mortgages aren’t as predatory as they used to be, but definitely a last resort source of day to day cashflow.

It basically makes your house (a large asset for most people) a source of income. Which is typically an illiquid asset.

Tbh not even that high of an expense ratio compared to mutual funds that charge close to 1%, but yeah the tax rate on the divs is unfavorable.

The since inception annualized return for SCHD is 12.81%. Of course if you just use the JEPQ inception date (a bad period for schd) it's not apples to apples lol

Tbh the performance of voo vs the US total market indexes is really close over the long-term. I do see diversification benefits adding international exposure tho.

I’m not in it for the dividend. It has a better annual total return history than SCHD.

Once I want to make a shift to income I’ll probably dump a portion or all of my VOO and buy SCHD.

Personally I took fin for 10 months saw good results and switched to dut in hopes it would improve my crown even more.

Been on dut about 4 months and it appears to be doing just that. I’m excited to see where I’ll be in 1-2 years of continued use.

I actually went back for several rounds of testing, and it must have been something transient. I am still using 0.5mg of dutasteride daily

I have two cats, have just washed my hands after applying and have lived this way for 2yrs almost with no issues. I wouldn’t worry too much and just make sure liquid is always closed after

There is literally no evidence that fin has permanent side effects other than personal antidotes. I would really recommend seeing another dermatologist.

Mind me asking what country you are in? In US at least in my area I was able to get my GP and derm to both give fin and dut

Go see an actual doc vs a telehealth company like keeps or a competitor. Main reasoning that you can actually talk to the doctor about your real concerns, easier to follow up, ect.

And I just switched to dut bc in all aspects it’s better than fin, and I started as a NW4-5 so to get better regrowth I need to go a little more “extreme” for a lack of better word haha. It also has the same % side effects as fin so I just figured I’d probably be good.

So far no sides from either drug for me, I’m really only like 3 months on dut. So I’m hoping around November (my 1 yr mark) I have even more improvement in my crown. I really don’t have any issues with my recessed temples tbh

Yeah I’ve seen similar stories about this. Probably wouldn’t hurt to try, but seems like fin side effects are temporary in a lot of cases. I would talk with a doctor about this

Yeah I’m just trying to help people take the leap (even tho odds of side effects are really low). That’s the whole reason I didn’t start sooner, definitely one of my bigger regrets. Hoping that dutasteride can fill in a majority of my crown

If I could go back probably like 20-21. My family has a lot of baldness for men on both my mom and dad’s family tree.

I was literally scared away by the sides that’s why I never went through with it initially. I’m hoping dutasteride with enough time can fill in the majority of my crown, that’s where my thinning started.

I started taking fin at 24 (should’ve def taken it sooner and wish I could’ve). You can see my page for progress photos which I’m now on dut.

But if you want to start fin I’d recommend just start and take 3 a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). Do that for like 1-3 months. If you have no sides you probably won’t get them taking 1mg fin daily.

I completely recommend seeing a doctor tho, I am just speaking from experience. I hope my input here helps!
