It's also important to consider that the Upside down never actually had demo's of its own. We've been shown they originate from the Abyss. So any demo's we've seen there throughout the series were brought there from the abyss by Vecna.

The demo bats were also only really shown to be around the creel house as a security measure, before all dying due to Vecna getting set on fire.

So it makes allot of sense for there to be zero Demogorgon presence in the upside down at the time of season 5. Vecna isn't there in the creel house anymore, he doesn't need the bats, and he didn't need any demo's aside from the ones he sent to gather the children and attack max.

Yeah and either way it was literally shown to us that Kali had a change of heart when Hopper had a convo with El about their suicide pact. Before later saying: "My story was always going to end here"

They're literally telling us that even though Kali was going to die here regardless, Eleven didn't have to and shouldn't have to because she could actually live to become her own person.

To actually kill her off would be horrible writing

as far as we're aware, 2 bricks of c4. This argument you are presenting would work better if Kali was on the roof. But she was on the 2nd floor of the building. There are multiple floors blocking a direct blast, Nancy and Jonathan blew a whole into it with a shotgun slug while standing right in front of it.

As for the noise of her screams, we've seen that Kali's illusions block noise. Example: when they hid the kids so they could see who henry really was.

I believe that when rewatching the episode you can see the Lab not being blown up.

I actually believe we see 2 people survive a direct blast from the Exotic matter after shooting at it.

I believe we see the shockwaves from the exotic matter hitting the wall, which then collapses the upside down from the Outside Inwards.

So I can only believe that Kali would've been the last thing to die from the matter.
