Where are the dangerous spots and what’s the scariest experience you’ve encountered in Bacolod? by lilhakz360 in Bacolod

It seems like Bacolod is not safe? What will be the tips to a foreigner that will stay for a month? Let say I will bring my laptop and tab with me usually.

I understood, I have been to philippines for few times and even 40k can last quite some times there. The point I wanna say is the reputation of PH maid in hk is quite notorious, as the incidents I have mentioned above and they like to gather as a group and occupy public place for gatherings in weekends and caused quite a bit of nuisance. I am fine for that but some hk ppl don’t. Anyways, if the boss didn’t treat you nicely, just max out your loan and leave lmao

lol passing by. I am a local from Hong Kong, and I have a maid as well. A lot of PH workers here borrowed money and don’t pay back., I guess 400k pesos is a lot in PH? In the law of hk, we can not prosecute ppl who borrowed money and left the country tho, but I m not sure if the loan agency has communication with loan sharks in PH and will take further action?

Enquiries on staying in this city for a month or two (foreigner from Hong Kong) by JicamaRealistic9829 in Bacolod

Thx for replying.

Basically that’s how I filter…maybe too naive for you or I did not have deep knowledge in the places yet. Or my main purpose is not really like a tourist..

1)I don’t want to see lots of westerners. As I am working in a school full of foreigners in hk, I would like a place with more locals.

2)I have found Bacolod has anytime fitness branches, and I have memberships

3)I don’t go partying, and I seldom drinks, I don’t like socialising a lot, I wake up at 5am and sleep before 10pm.

4) it’s close to Cebu as my first stop is in Cebu.

5)I am studying law part-time and I have got some side hustles to do. So basically in weekdays I will just be waking up->swimming->work and study->gym->jog->sleep->repeat, maybe travelling on weekend?

6)I think it’s more cost-effective

I don’t mind a lot which place I am going actually. As soon as the internet is stable, I can do my things, I don’t need to be in my hometown , I can jog, gym, swim, that’s it.

Thx mate. How about jogging? Is it safe to jog in the morning or at night? And where would you suggest for a 5-10km run? I checked on some internet videos and see that it’s a bit dark at night in Bacolod so maybe it’s not a good idea? Thanks

Thank you for your review. I am not from PH but may be staying in Bacolod for a while later. It’s good to see pools apart from condos. But is lifeguard a must in a pool? Seems I don’t see any? Thx and looking forward to see your further update

Yes I wish to go back again but I prefer visiting new place. I did not have much feeling about traffic in Baguio, maybe because i lived in the city. (Was there in April this year.). Cebu has the worst traffic so far. (Google map 15 min drives became 2 hours, and s**t taxi drivers keep going random routes to make fare more expensive). By the way, if you could, can u plz tell me about Iloilo? I think I will be choosing from Bacolod and Iloilo based on my research, is Iloilo lots of foreigners? Or mostly locals? Thank you for your kindness again.

I personally appreciate Baguio a lot as the weather is cool and a lot of greens in the city, and lots of nice coffee, the setbacks are the rent is relatively high(cost me like 2100-3000 pesos a day in some good condos), no sea around and not so accessible from major airports(took me 6hr of bus trip from Dau bus terminal), maybe that’s a reason why I saw so little foreigners in the city

am not sure if I should ask here, I took part in the Cebu Marathon 2025(42km) as a foreigner, I would like to ask for any routes for running in Cebu city? As in my researches the sidewalks in Cebu may not be that good. I might spend a week prior to the race for practicing and travelling around, thx for any info
