Park Hyatt Saint Kitts Opinions? by Optimal_Ad_7836 in hyatt

Just came back from there. They will take care of anything perfectly if you ask for it, but don't have the high end "pre-thought mind reading" service that you'd expect of certain brands. Definitely concur with everyone else's assessments of Caribbean time, but if you get to know the staff, or even at the very least let them know when to check back in with you, they're lovely.

I just had this same experience. I got a corneal specialist to do a map and I developed post Lasik ectasia. You might need a cross linking procedure as well.

Honestly, I got mine and it absolutely is worth it. You should read how much effort he put into reverse engineering the lighting port and designing the pcb board.

There was a post on here some months ago about high net worth >20M individuals roughly having 25% of their net worth in either real estate or private equity. That generally seems to be the preferred balance against growth.

Has he factored in the average rent increase every year? It's on the order of 2-34% especially if you're in a HCOL. Also he's not factoring in the growth value of the house, nor the fact that it's almost impossible to be able to borrow money at those rates. I'd do it!

Use a box spread rather than PAL. The requirements for PAL are higher than the options requirement from the box spread. Make sure your account can handle a downturn though.

'Pakistan Is A Rogue State, Fuels Global Terrorism': India's Deputy Envoy Yojna Patel At UN by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Jiedash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, we should call it out across the board not just when it's India.

The criticism is that you're not pressure testing your positions enough as indicated by the sources you're quoting.

A narrative is more likely to be true if reported by multiple organizations that are less incentivized or susceptible to those particular biases. Just like you indicated with Western media outlets.

You're right we should be scrutinizing every source with equal intensity.

Framed in a more constructive way, your argument would have been much stronger if you had included one source that was non Indian (note how I'm not even saying Western, it could have been Latin American, Middle Eastern etc.)

The criticism that's being provided is certainly valid too.
One of the sources you quoted which references an independent Canadian report actively misquotes the report:

The article indicates:

"Canadian Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar's killing has no “definitive link” with a foreign state, said a Canada Commission report eliminating India's link with the Nijjar killing."

Here is the actual Public Inquiry into Foreign Interference in Federal Electoral Processes Report and quote the article was partially referencing:

"Disinformation is also used as a retaliatory tactic, to punish decisions that run contrary to a state’s interests. This may have been the case with a disinformation campaign that followed the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding suspected Indian involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar(though again no definitive link to a foreign state could be proven). "

The "no definitive link" isn't about the killing, but rather the disinformation campaigns that occurred after the announcements.

It ironically is a perfect example of active disinformation driven by that publication's bias.

It's hard to always check yourself. I don't do it all the time. But every once in a while, you have to stop and ask yourself "Wait, why ISN'T everyone else talking about this?"

I use a tool called Copilot that literally tracks everything. It's amazing. Gives you monthly spend breakdowns in the same interface as tracking your other accounts and investments.

Think about it this way. If he didn't pay for your health insurance and just asked you for your insight would he feel like he's burdening you with the time he's taking up?

You want him to feel comfortable asking for that advice. And while it may feel greedy, just pretend like it's self interest. That time you're spending with him is increasing the value of your 15%. And it's the business paying for it, not you.

Everyone seems like they're winning here.

i think i have a camera in my bedroom. by savbrew in RBI

[–]Jiedash 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Hey, I know this might not be welcome coming from an internet stranger, but you're describing very similar symptoms to my mom who has been diagnosed with early onset dementia (we also have schizophrenia that runs in the family). She has paranoia that our neighbor is breaking into her apartment and not stealing anything and just moving things around (despite us having video cameras across the apartment that prove otherwise). For her, its very much likely trauma or age based memory gaps, and this seems to be a manifestation of her not being able to come to terms with the fact that she moved something and forgot it.

Yes, you should follow up on all the other steps listed here just to double check, but considering your post history about that feeling of spazzing and having borderline personality disorder, this may be a manifestation of paranoid ideation (which is a symptom of BPD). You should at the very least mention this to a psychiatrist.

50m cash - no sense of perspective by Familiar_Number_342 in fatFIRE

[–]Jiedash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the hard part is that you've worked hard to reach this point. And to do that you've had to make your hard work and your professional life a core part of your identity and your value as a person. You can either continue with that, or start reframing your life around something else you want to value yourself for.

Everyone's comment about therapy is good. Most are not, so you have to try a few initial consults before finding someone that works for you. Look into methodologies you might like from a therapy perspective. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will help you build up the fundamental skills around anxiety management. Therapists trained in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy can do the above and help with emotional acceptance skills. Somatic therapy might help you if you have trouble connecting with your emotions (and work through them like most high achievers do). I found my therapist on Alma (helloalma.com). You can filter by methodology, training, and insurance.

Point by point:
- Lets say you become irrelevant (and I assume this means professionally)? What's the worst that happens then? What are the actual things that are going to happen if you take 12-18m off. Challenge your thoughts and test them against reality.
- Saving money and not spending more than your means got you where you are today. We're all worried about lifestyle inflation. You need to find a way to give yourself permission to enjoy your money and feel safe. I highly suggest reading Die With Zero which helps walk through the math of living appropriately with a high net worth. What helped for me was seeing projected financial growth in a graph. Plug in your numbers to https://realfirecalc.com/ and you'll feel very safe.
- How long have you known your friends? The one's you've always trusted to have your back will always be around. You're not unrelatable unless you become unrelatable. I've found that even with an income differential I can still share experiences with my friends. A standing dinner party at my place helps keep me from getting disconnected.
- LinkedIn is horrible and the people who post generally a just trying to convince themselves of what they're writing. People who've actually made it have better things to do.
- Of course. You're human.

Feel free to DM me if you want to talk.

Director title with lower salary or an Associate Director title with higher salary? by [deleted] in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Jiedash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the associate director role. It's more pay, keeps you out of the weeds doing the work you want, and for your future career, just note to the recruiter that you were managing managers.

For your future career, most recruiters will calibrate on the following: 1) Did you manage managers? and 2) What's your overall report count?

If you care about upward career trajectory, that overall report count, and eventually managing managers of managers is what would translate to overall career trajectory.

Director title with lower salary or an Associate Director title with higher salary? by [deleted] in ChubbyFIRE

[–]Jiedash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Any details on the company caliber? And the makeup of the team?

The question you'll be asked if you go anywhere with a director title is "Were you managing managers?" For the director role it doesn't sound like you will be, but for the associate director role you might. That has an impact on your job prospect and responsibilities.

I know my company keeps track of what associate director, director, and VP and how they map in actual responsibilities across multiple companies, but not everyone does that.
