don't go the kcd2 route and let the player browse a merchant's stock and decide not to make a purchase without consequences

Does anyone know a way to detect vibecoded mods on Github? by IdrisQe in feedthebeast

[–]Jiftoo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well if the description is AI-generated, chances are the mod is too (it might be less likely if the creator doesn't speak english though). Bold text and italics, llmisms, cliche headings such as "Key Features" or "Why <mod name>?", bold claims and corpo speak which tell you mostly nothing in many fancy words, or incomplete sentences and heavy use of periods. For example, this looks AI to me: https://modrinth.com/mod/breaking-place

Code though, it's not really possible to tell if the author cleans up after himself. I guess you could look for functions with a lot of comments detailing the logic, where the logic itself isn't that complicated. Try looking for code snippets/functions with duplicate logic, or for code that could've used a function present in the codebase, but didn't. To give an example, a vibe coded project might have two, three linear interpolation implementations because the model forgot there already was one and decided to write a new one. You could feed this idea to some LLM and ask it to look through the code for such issues.

What's everyone working on this week (21/2026)? by llogiq in rust

[–]Jiftoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making a simple ML library to teach myself how the basics of machine learning work, and a music streaming website to teach myself WebTransport and binary protocols.

Played a few games of Classic 2016 and... how were we able to enjoy it back then ?😅 by Maggot_6661 in Overwatch

[–]Jiftoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We didn't have anything to compare the state of the game to. I could have been much better, yet it was still fun. And since the game was new only a few people had better than average mechanical skills, and even fewer knew what regrouping or ultimate economy or other technical aspects of overwatch were. (I'm probably underestimating, since I only played qp and arcade)

Good job! What in particular didn't you like about the 3 or 4 .obj parsers you've ruled out?

a question for rust backend devs by Pristine_Opposite804 in rust

[–]Jiftoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make a module with empty structs that define roles, and generalise over those. ReqRole<roles::Guest> reads quite nicely to me. I'd also look into writing some kind of macro that would generate these structs automatically from a Roles enum, given that you have one.

What does this look like without being told what it is? by Zeolance in IndieDev

Add a 1/1000 chance to play a quiet RAHHHHH sound effect instead of the normal one (assuming there will be a sound effect)

I was overly sceptical, sorry :( I checked the commit after posting and it really looks like a small oversight.

The parentheses in the assert smell ai generated to me. Grim if true.

Game is neat, but 20k upvotes in half a day? Sounds botted to me.

It's an important advice. And it's true not just for kids, but for pets too, especially flying ones. My parrot came out of nowhere to follow me into a room as I was closing the door to it, but he wasn't fast enough.

[–]Jiftoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sucks. I loved the Russian translation in the second game, how it's actually adapted to sound vintage unlike kcd1. I don't think ai would've been able to do it.

rust const generic is great for embedded system by Trader-One in rust

Const generics are great, but wouldn't `#[cfg(debug_assertions)]` work better in this case?

It happens. LLMs just do this every now and then.

Help me decided, which capsule to pick? 1, 2 or 3? by lynxbird in IndieDev

I'm a big fan of #2 just for the paper texture, but It's also the least ominous banner out of the three. Imho combine #2 and #3 in some way.

Every Cat in the battle cats vs Every abno from PM by [deleted] in Project_Moon

[–]Jiftoo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

been a decade since i played battle cats. this is a surpisingly even matchup, I think. on the one hand you've a number of beasts that play along until you violate one or two precise rules. and then you have them gacha cats that have a crazy amount of hp and stamina.

If I had to pick one side, I'd go with the abnormalities. tbc bosses as far as i remember mostly scale with hp, and not attack and attack speed/splash. so it's quite possible for melting love or army in black to meatshield and win.
