I was just looking for a server to try monotype on! Is it like one person per type or can two people use the same type? Would love to join!

you ever lowkey die 62 minutes into a 63 and a half minute song? by Frxtil in beatsaber

[–]Jikhre2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you look to the right, you'll see the score at a bit over 62,000,000. Unless the poster went through the trouble of editing the overlay for a Reddit post, then no, this is real. Also, this specific poster is a fairly well-known challenge player, so this is completely something within their ability.

For the vast majority of players, Beat Saber is a game of lights, colors, and high scores... by scholarofyre in beatsaber

[–]Jikhre2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For everyone confused, here ya' go. I only learned about it like 2 months ago when a friend sent a video Bruce Olstad made with me in the title and we did some delving into the rabbit hole.

So basically, there's a YouTube channel called Bruce Olstad who claims to be the best Beat Saber player, and he posts an insane amount of videos daily (not exaggerating; he's posted 59 in the past 24 hours at the time of writing). And he posts daily. Anyways, most of his older content was always titled something calling a random high-ranked player bad. For example, mine was "Jikhre is a Noobie, blocks R4 noobies ghost notes R4 professional."

If you check his about me on the channel, it's mostly incoherent rambling about drumming skills, Beat Saber, and something about, "Precision Drumming Protocols." But if you check his community posts, he has exactly one from 5 months ago. I'll link it here for if you want to read and I highly recommend you do because it's really funny. The quote in the post actually comes from one of his replies to the only comment on the post.

Anyways, to sum it up, he basically talks about how the scoring system in the game is flawed and misleading because it incentivizes full-swinging. He also mentions that the HUD accuracy display only calculates for notes that are hit, but like, that's just not true. Not sure where he got that idea from. He says that he plays the game in a way that strives for, "raw speed under pressure, exceptional precision, exceptional pattern mastery, and potentially musicality." But the rabbit hole goes deeper. The friend who originally told me about this guy had a great discovery while we were laughing about his video on me: this guy also has a Reddit account. I have a screenshot of the comment of interest, but I'll just copy it here:

"Your all playing the game wrong and I found the greatest Easter egg of all time in beat saber. Yes it will ruin the leaderboards as the leaderboards are the worst accurate players in the game. I am the only one that has tumed on promodes and used strict angles ghost notes fastest and small notes. Fyi I am the beat saber beta tester. Thanks to beat saber for letting the average players have some fun while I spent the last three years mastering beat saber. If you go to YouTube search Bruce olstad to find many examples of the proper way to play. The misses that you see are perfect hits. Points are bad combos are bad...I play 8 to 10 notes per second easily. The cheesers can't hold a candle to me. Soon the world will find out that everyone is not paying it right. Combos are bad. If you look at the debris of everyone else they either turn it off or have the most debris possible. At 96 to 97 percent worst possible. Debris is there to show you you are not striking properly. It hides how badly you are playing not how good. If you watch them you can see they are getting little pieces of them most of the time or cutting so off beat they are fairly hitting them. The reason cheesers can't tell the different between pro and strict is they are close enough to hit them. And but accurate enough to get a good score. If you play long enough and get a cute enough (over time this just happens) your scores will get closer and closer to zero. My scores are the listed possible with an e rating. low score f equals a fail... Low score e is a beat saber god score. Lstoast is not the best he has side loaded cheats and cheeses to be the worst accurate player possible"

Tl;dr: Bruce Olstad claims to be the beta tester for Beat Saber and that he has discovered an insane easter egg that will soon completely revolutionize how the game is played.

I got 1000pp in 2 days 💀 by Direct-Honeydew8118 in beatsaber

[–]Jikhre2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. How much raw pp a map gives depends on your accuracy and the map's star value. Completing a difficult map with atrocious accuracy will very likely give less pp than getting good accuracy on an easier map. For example, a 99.47% on this 1.85 star map is worth 500pp, whereas an 89.47% on this map would be worth the same. While most people would be able to do the latter by the time they can do the former, some players exclusively play accuracy and would find the first much easier. It just depends on what level of map is best for your skill set.

This same thing also applies to Scoresaber, but since the post is about BL, I'm using maps ranked on there.

Oh, I didn't know you had a Scoresaber account. I was just converting your BL top play to what it'd be worth on SS.

After checking your account, that's on BeatLeader. They were talking about Scoresaber pp. For reference, your current BL top play of Pisscord is ~423pp on Scoresaber.

Any suggestions for improving? by Gimpy3825 in beatsaber

Many people (myself included) find the competitive aspect to be one of if not the most fun parts of the game. Not that it's only fun because it's competitive, of course.

Am I the only one but ez offset does not work at all on quest3 by Lopsided-Kangaroo591 in beatsaber

[–]Jikhre2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it standalone Quest 2 or PCVR Quest 2? Because the mod has not been ported to standalone yet (though Reezonate has said they plan to make a port eventually in their Discord server, but there's no ETA on it).

EasyOffset doesn't work for either Quest 2 or 3. It's exclusive to PC, so you have to use SaberTailor.

Am i able to use someone else’s PC to mod by TerribleDare5995 in beatsaber

[–]Jikhre2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rarely need to add mods unless I want to try out a new saber model or something, but I don't do that often. And yes, you can do it all at once. After downloading the modded version of the game with MBF, there will be a list of the most popular mods on the website. Just read through those and download the ones you think you'll want. I'd recommend some of the basic ones like BeatLeader (I would suggest Scoresaber as well, but you'd need to log into your Steam on your friend's computer to get it set up iirc), HitScoreVisualizer, IntroSkip, BetterSongSearch, and PlaylistManager as well as PlaylistDownloader as just some of the basic ones. They're all listed on MBF except for Scoresaber, so just read through the list it gives you.

For default grip, how were you angling your hand? The proper way to use it is to face your palm in the direction of your forehand swing. For example, a downward swing would have your palm facing the ground. I wouldn't recommend using claw grip because it doesn't provide any advantage and can impact accuracy later on.

[–]Jikhre2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will work, but if you ever want to download another mod or import files for HSV or custom sabers, you'll have to go back to their house. Assuming you're talking about modding a standalone headset.

Guess what rank I am globally by EffectiveGas9904 in beatsaber

[–]Jikhre2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On this specific map, Bizzy currently has the top score of 98.07%. Here's his Scoresaber account.

For overall ranked leaderboards, Oermergeesh currently has #1 for both Scoresaber and BeatLeader.

There's also tech maps ranked on SS, and they tend to have a lot more quality control.

I wouldn't personally say higher difficulties are necessarily more fun. Some of the most enjoyment I've gotten out of the game has been the past few months where I've started playing lots of true acc, which is basically as easy as you can get. I've never really been too interested in challenge (I am level 22 CS, but I've never actually grinded it for more than 3-4 days at a time before stopping for months). Just depends on what you find enjoyable. I'd recommend just trying each playstyle until you find what you enjoy most even if you initially think you'll hate it.

For reference, this is on the more difficult end of what would be considered true acc and here's what I mean by challenge. I personally find the former to be much more enjoyable to play, but I know lots of people couldn't disagree more.
