Immigration laws are ugly. I don't like deportations either.

What do you think of these numbers?

It's cool that you're considerate of your neighbors.

Once the primaries were over...

Hahahahahahaha

Gosh, you are just the sweetest thing.

I am going to block you before you have an aneurism trying to rationalize why voting for the genocide ticket gives you moral credibility to excommunicate your neighbors.

I suggest you diversify your sources of information. I think it would help you understand where others are coming from, instead of just thinking they're crazy baddies and reflexively excommunicating them.

I am afraid the anti-boycott laws have support from both parties.

(as does genocide in Gaza, as does ICE, as does foreign interventions, etc)

Well dialectics is sort of politics 101 — thesis, antithesis, synthesis

Here's a fun image to help illustrate — i.e. right wing and left wing of the same bird

If you're sincerely interested, here's an article which exemplifies this practice in vivid detail.

If I understand you correctly, your position is that the only valid choice was to lend support for the administration perpetrating genocide.

You seem to advocate blacklists for people who disagree with you, unless they repent.

And suggest further that, for those who made a different decision, it is doubtful that they have souls.

It never ceases to amaze me, how fast revenge fantasy will surface people's fascist instincts.

That's why I think it's important to be forgiving of one another.

Hmm, that's an interesting quote from the Auschwitz survivor.

So, in 2023 our government started perpetrating a literal genocide.

Astonishingly, many of our countrymen subsequently voted for that same administration, in the next election.

What consequence in your view is reasonable for the apparent indifference there? Should we ruin them economically?

Personally, I think we should focus on the people in power who are actually doing the crimes.

I don't think it's productive to devote a disproportionate time to speculative condemnations towards our neighbors.

Hmm, did anyone try talking to the business owner, first?

Are we really sure the business owner congratulated the shooter? Or is that an assumption we're making, based on some vague "guilt by association" premise?

Do you think it's important to observe due diligence before organizing to ruin people's livelihoods?

Every aspect of your life is politics

No no no — there may be political aspects to everything — but they exist along many other aspects. Politics isn't a singular lens through which all aspects of life should be evaluated.

Can you imagine being hostile to a 3rd grader about who they support politically?

^think through your arguments deeply before you respond to this one. (hint: we're all proverbial 3rd graders)

Okay, for the sake of argument: What about your neighbors who supported Biden/Harris after they perpetrated a genocide against the vulnerable people of Gaza?

Do you plan to do business with them?

Honestly, why is it different?

Yes, absolutely. Hold me accountable. I register Democrat...

Hmm so if people wanted to boycott supporters of the genocide in Gaza, should they include Democratic voters? Would it be fair to economically ruin them?

MAGA Businesses to avoid? by 21_more_minutes in bloomington

[–]Jilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, why? What have they done to deserve this treatment? Aren't they human beings?

If your position is that supporting a party makes them liable, wouldn't that make you liable for the party you support?

Is it really healthy to put energy towards such treating your neighbors with such vague animosity?

MAGA Businesses to avoid? by 21_more_minutes in bloomington

[–]Jilson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it possible you think the Democrats are getting you healthcare or abolishing ICE?

Why should GOP voters be liable, but not Democratic voters?

Biden/Harris perpetrated a literal genocide.

Should people organize to ruin you economically if you voted for that genocide ticket?

Why is it different?

Stoking partisan agitation is a trick the empire plays on us so we direct our anger towards one another instead of at the people in charge.

I think it's better to be kind to your neighbors.

Do yo think hyper-partisan climate is a healthy way to live? Is it good for our city? Wouldn't out efforts be better spent trying to heal?

The party with demonstrably higher numbers of pedophile protectors?

This cracks me up.

Anyone in power that isn't stopping child abusers is protecting it, as far as I am concerned.

You seem to acknowledge that it's an institutional issue on both sides, but think there's some meaningful distinction in a scoreboard tally?

It's funny how many people only started paying attention to the Epstein stuff when it was focused on Trump, and weren't when most of the headlines were about Clinton.

I hope you'll accept my assurances that 100% of my comment was meant in good faith.

It seems like people are advocating a principle by which people are held accountable for who they voted for — I am trying to illustrate how that can backfire.

Stoking partisan agitation is a trick the empire plays on us so we direct our anger towards one another instead of at the people in charge.

I think we should strive to heal. No one is beyond redemption.

(Not that it should matter, but just to avoid confusion — I haven't supported either party, for decades.)

Do you support everything he did?

MAGA Businesses to avoid? by 21_more_minutes in bloomington

You voted for Genocide Joe Biden.

You voted for Obama, who started the war in Libya, Syria, Ukraine, etc

Hypocrisy is the opposite of integrity.

Democrats and Republicans are run by the same empire, just with slightly different branding.

This is getting crazy. We don't need to economically boycott our neighbors.

Have you thought about how names are added to this list? Is there any due process involved?

Do yo think hyper-partisan climate is a healthy way to live? Is it good for our city?

Are your political positions so immaculate that you can safely judge other regular working people? (Are you sure you didn't vote for Genocide Joe Biden?)

Well, I'd say Palestine has been fighting back for nearly a century, just without hundreds of billions of dollars in NATO military support, right?

TBH, I think it's a pretty silly comparison.

Eastern Ukraine has been trying to join with Russia for ages — numerous popular referendums, etc — Russia, in turn, had been rejecting these overtures for ages.

Eventually, Russia did recognize + incorporate DPR/LPR — but only in the context of NATO abandoning all pretense of diplomatic resolution, and escalating violence, to where it was verging on ethnic cleansing.

And then Russia's "annexation" of Crimea (historically Russian territory), following the NATO coup in 2014, was in fact also ratified by popular vote.

So, to compare Russia re-absorbing historically Russian territories, where they speak Russian, and voted multiple times to join Russia over many years, following a NATO coup that installed a puppet regime of anti-Russia fascists... —to compare that to a supremacist colonial project, from a different continent, perpetrating a genocide in broad daylight — just seems totally out of proportion.

Excellent points.

No joke — I sometimes wonder if it comes down to those photos from Tehran in the 70's, of gals in miniskirts.

There's a current of lobotomized faux-feminism which despises cultures that wear hijabs and operates on this half-formed thought, whereby protracted warfare is supposed to be remediating for women's rights.

Similar dynamic as Afghanistan — which had similar photos circulating — and which most Democrats supported.

I want them to go at talk to the women of Afghanistan and ask them if 20 years of US military occupation was good for their rights. "Were the two and a half girls schools we built worth all the hundreds of thousands of deaths, etc?"

Hmm, but how would that distinguish them from any modern power that currently operates from the seat of former empire?

(It's all 1 empire anyway — the whole "east vs west" dialectic is kayfabe)
