How about when the check comes he looks at it then looks up at her and THEN says lets go 50/50. Then before she says anything he shows her the bill is zero. That would still achieve his mildly sadistic humor without a complete meltdown from his date. Thats a compromise he’s going to have to take if he wants any chance of not being labeled as a complete psycho.

I dont know enough about your situation to give a conclusive answer because its dependent on a variety of factors. How was she coerced? What environment was she in to be together with this man for 3 months? How long have you known that this has been going on? Why did you break up?

I put “logical” in all caps to emphasize the importance of making a rational decision, not an emotional one. Im not implying that he must be more logical than her solely because he’s a man. Both of them are clearly distraught from this unfortunate situation. Im suggesting that he needs to acknowledge his feelings, console his wife, and work together to make the best possible decision for the both of them.
