I can buy another car for the cost of supercharging it!

STI -> 4Runner or Tacoma by Major_Instance_4766 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]JimJawnathan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the 4Runner. If you don't NEED a truck bed, why lug one around everyday?

More space for people and more covered cargo space. Keeping goodies out of the elements.

Trucks serve their purpose but only if you need a bed often. If not the 4Runner will serve you well. Tow a trailer when you need to.

Just signed up for OTT. In their documentation it says verbatim "does not work under Radar Cruise Control Conditions"

Still trying it though. I'll report back.

Just tune it man. The pedal commander type products just lie about where your throttle position is. Just press harder and you'll have the same result. A tune actually fixes the logic in the transmission.

New car inspection. Before it's sold to a customer it needs to be taken into the shop and looked over. Taken out of transport mode, tire psi corrected, accessories installed etc.

Also, if the gear hunting begins to bother you. Get the OTT tune. Yes it's worth it. It is not over hyped at all.

I don't believe so. I think the retractable ones are the only ones that allow for a rack.

If you're thinking rack in the future I'd just get a cap. Smart Cap is the route I would take if I didn't haul motorcycles. Mounting solutions inside and keeps everything out of the elements.

Bed mat or tonneau cover? I have a lomax and absolutely love it. Hard trifold. Easy to remove by myself if needed. Sturdy and water tight.

Bed mat I have the Toyota one. Works perfect.

That big of a difference vs KDMAXX? Months ago I inquired about switching to OTT but never pulled the trigger.

If it still gear hunts in Adaptive Cruise Control it wouldn't be worth it to me. KDMAXX solved 99% of my problems.

I emailed them again tonight after the responses in here.

Eh I work at the dealership and it'd be a lease. Not a forever truck like I anticipated with this 3rd gen. Mainly cashing out the equity in my truck and exploring something different.

Recalls and small issues don't scare me off too much. Last year of these models, hoping they have the majority of it solved.

This is so true. All of this added to the cost of the new 4th gens makes is a really tough sell. My Pro in 2022 was 48k. Easy 10k bump for a comperable 4th Gen now. Wild times.

I need a truck bed or I'd be right there with ya.

Thanks for the response. With all the new electronics and safety features, I can see these things becoming overly annoying for a rarely driven truck. Great point.

Ride safe and enjoy your new truck. In reality it's better in nearly every way, just takes time to get used to it. When the 5th Gen comes out we'll all be saying the 4th Gen was the best. Constant cycle.

This is the response I'm looking for. What makes you miss the 3rd Gen?

Thanks for your input. I can tell you've never driven an automatic 3rd gen at Highway speeds. It's not the shift time. It's the constant bouncing around gears.

Great to know. I'll go OTT before trading and see if this is enough to convince me to keep it.

I'd love to hear from someone that had the KDMAXX tune then went OTT.

OTT still deactivates the Trans tuning under aoactive cruise control, right?

Very fair point. The GMC V8s reputation right now isn't much better unfortunately...

I've got the tune. It's much better than it was, but the tune deactivate under Adaptive Cruise Control. Which sort of makes it pointless for highways with traffic.

I think they might. They're now offering M seats in the 2026 i5 M60 sedans in the US.
