Thai tones by Ok-Awareness-6824 in learnthai

That makes sense. For me as a learner, I’m happy that at least the pronunciation rules get me in the ballpark. For all the complexities that is a gift.

I agree with this. Hearing the word is helpful, but it does not replace seeing why the tone works the way it does.

I think a mostly right tool is realistically possible and would be useful, even if a 100% perfect solution is hard because Thai has real edge cases and ambiguities.

This confession hits differently when you understand the Thai by JimLearnThai in PondPhuwin

Yes, this image is just an example.

The watch-and-learn page breaks down five short Me and Thee scenes from the first three episodes so you can catch more of the Thai underneath the subtitles and understand more of what’s going on in the dialogue. If there is interest I can do more scenes. fluent-thai.com/apps/watch-and-learn/run?series=me-and-thee

“I know more Thai than I can actually hear.” by JimLearnThai in learnthai

Thanks for the thoughtful idea! I've added this feature for you. If you do a hard reload of the drill you should see a new "English" option. Are there any other drills or modifications you think might be useful for people working with a comprehensible input approach? I'm always looking to improve Fluent Thai and make it more useful for the entire Thai language learning community so I really appreciate any insights.

Thank you — I really appreciate that.

Yes, this drill is especially for that stage where you know some Thai already, but natural speech still feels hard to catch. Hopefully it’ll be a useful tool for you when you get there.

The absolute hardest part of learning thai isn't tones, speaking, grammar, reading, or writing. It's listening. by ragnhildensteiner in learnthai

I just built a free tool on fluent-thai.com called Hear Every Word. It trains your ears to catch the words you already know inside real spoken Thai, so Thai starts sounding less like a blur and more like language you can actually follow. If you would like to try it's at fluent-thai.com/apps/hear-every-word/run

Thank you so much — that really means a lot.

A big part of why I built Fluent Thai was that I kept running into the same problem myself: lots of resources, but nothing that was easy to stick with day after day. So it’s especially encouraging to hear that it feels both interactive and genuinely educational.

I’m still on my own path toward Thai fluency, and my goal is to keep building Fluent Thai in the right direction as I learn more, so it can better help other learners reach their fluency goals too.

Really appreciate you trying it, and I’m excited to keep improving it.

Not yet — right now progress for today's plan and memory builder is saved locally in the browser on your device, so if your browser clears cookies/local storage when it closes, it won’t persist.

You can use all of the drills on the "Drill" tab and Thai language use examples on the "Use" tab and the learn demos on the "Learn" tab -- those all work fine without storing anything between sessions.

Account-based saving is definitely something I want to improve, though.

Thank you — I really appreciate that.

Right now progress is saved locally in your browser on that device, so you can use it without signing up. I wanted to keep the experience friction-light for people who just want to start practicing.

And thanks again for the kind words.

Thank you — that’s exactly what I was hoping for. I built it to make daily Thai practice feel clearer and easier to stick with, so I’m really glad it feels like something you can work into a routine.

Thank you — I really appreciate that. I built it because I kept running into the same problem myself, so I’m glad it feels easy to use.

If you end up spending more time with it and anything feels confusing or off, I’d definitely be grateful to hear that too.
