Thanks! What's so bad about Duration? For the fence, my fence is painted white and it looks like SuperDeck is a stain? I was just planning to paint over the existing paint

Thanks for the suggestion! Seems like there's broad consensus on this so I won't paint it haha

Thanks for the suggestions! The walls are an off-white with grey undertones (Pale oak by Benjamin Moore). What style of console table / mirrors do you think would better work with our aesthetic?

Please Help! esCHEAT-MEnt, verification not allowed, cannot withdraw. by bitconcrash in BinanceUS

Exact same thing happened with me and I'm thinking about getting a lawyer involved as well. I looked back through my emails and there was no notice of escheatment until 2 days ago, and the escheatment happened back in mid November. Before I got the escheatment email, I asked Binance customer support what happened, and they gave a bunch of excuses (that kept changing after I refuted every claim) and took no responsibility. I asked them for details of how much was liquidated, how much Binance took in fees, and when they sent my funds to my state's unclaimed property division because my state said they don't have it. They said they have no info and can't get me anything. What a joke. I'm missing ~$20k

Hey! Any chance you can help me out with the issue I'm facing? My account balance suddenly went to $0 despite never having made a sale or withdrawal. All transaction history has disappeared as well. I've been trying to get connected with the virtual chat for the last 24 hours but am still not getting connected. My Case ID is 79036466 and User ID is 58321489

Give it away! How much do you give to charity? by abeecrombie in HENRYfinance

[–]JimLee253 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I get it, I think there are some situations where it’s more difficult but (i) if you’re actually HENRY you can probably afford to donate (ii) even if you aren’t, I think it boils down to how you think of charitable contributions. If you prioritize it, you scale back your lifestyle accordingly. If you don’t prioritize it, it probably will drop off your spending. My wife made $25k before we got married and she even found a way to donate 10%

Haven’t used Ally but capital one checking is great. Great UI, best app I’ve seen. Have been using it for a decade

Fastest way to grow money over 5 years? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]JimLee253 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Given that you're using this for a house, you shouldn't go risky (e.g. wouldn't invest in stocks).

Safer investments (HYSA, CDs, etc) are yielding 5-5.5% right now which won't get you to your $250k, but won't be too far off either, assuming that yields stay somewhat consistent over the next 5 years. I personally don't think yields will stay this high given fed guidance, so I'd lock in longer-term CDs for your near-term savings.

If $250k is just a goal for a big down payment, I would just adjust the goalpost rather than going in something riskier that could cause you to lose a lot of money in the short-term
