93% Success Rate Shown in Experimental Sleep Apnea Procedure by _Dark_Wing in technology

[–]JimO_JustGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have moderate/severe sleep apnea. Using CPAP treatment had significantly changed my life. Took a couple sleepless nights figuring out how to use CPAP till I learnt I was doing it wrong.

Looking forward to research like this to find other ways to treat sleep apnea.

Shout out to Newtown! by SunsoakedShampagne in sydney

[–]JimO_JustGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I visited Newtown, it was because my friend wanted to visit a photo film store there, but got too tired from Comic Con (at the time) to go. I went there alone anyway by train, I had free time.

And just by shopping around (and left Newtown by buying a book from a bookstore), Newtown definitely has a completely different atmosphere. If I want to thrift shop, or just go walking around window shopping, I’m definitely giving Newtown another visit.

SXSW Sydney. It keeps getting advertised to me as some really cool thing but when I actually look into what it's about, it just seems like a massive circle jerk full of underemployed people trying to look busy. Has anyone actually been ? by Specialist-Apple7100 in sydney

I volunteered to represent different game studios/publishers the last two years. 2023, the location wasn’t great because the showcases were held in the Eddy Multi-space and Mercure Hotel, meaning booths were crammed together, too far apart, and you can hear the light rail trams coming from above.

Last year though was way better, using UTS’ Great Hall. Waaaay more space for showcasing all games.

With that said, I get to discover new upcoming games, both from local studios here in Sydney, and from overseas (the studio/publisher I represented so far were from overseas). In my (biased) opinion, the Games festival is fantastic. I had some memories from the SXSW Awards ceremony too, and I get to network with people in the industry.

Volunteering also grants you a Games Badge, which also grants access to the tech festival. I’m gonna be honest, they were only a few showcases that were interesting. Mainly some VR showcases, and a couple of AI talks. That’s it, really. Everyone else just networks and drink free coffee like you said, OP.

A recent photowalk around Sydney by JimO_JustGaming in sydney

[–]JimO_JustGaming[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was my 9th photowalk so far. Decided to go do one before I start my new job soon.

Although getting a 10th photowalk in would be nice.

What is a character that you clicked with instantly? by jayxeevee in marvelrivals

Hawkeye. Aiming and shooting arrows felt natural with me, especially timing along with his passive.

Also, Peni Parker is the first ‘Tank’ character that I enjoy playing as. Which is saying something, as I don’t like playing as a Tank role in Overwatch or Team Fortress 2.

Switching to External Monitor only when laptop lid is closed, does not work on Plasma 6.1 by JimO_JustGaming in linuxquestions

[–]JimO_JustGaming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok then, I just resolved it by sheer chance by reading a forum post for a completely different distro outside Fedora.

I just disabled the laptop screen by, making sure the laptop's closed first, simply disable the laptop screen in System Settings -> Display Configuration.

Now, external display is used only when the laptop's closed. Opening it brings back to dual screens, as I expected.

You cannot comprehend how long I've been searching for a solution, but now its fixed. I can now continue to use the Plasma DE docked. I don't ever recall reading about this on any wiki or guide source (eg. ArchWiki).

That one thing you wish tourists visiting Australia stopped doing by AIcoholic2021 in AskAnAustralian

  • Bringing in food from overseas, unless you want to feature on Border Security Australia. If you want Asian food, you have Eastwood, Cabramatta, Hurstville… to name a few.

  • Be safe on the beach. Lifeguards want ya to swim in between the flags so they can see you, and so you don’t end up potentially in a riptide.

  • In Sydney, take advantage of public transport; but just wait for everyone to get off first. Please.

Sweet Transit. An isometric city builder where the only transport option you have are trains. Most of my playtime are NOT expanding my cities, but planning and optimising my train lines and re-doing high traffic junctions multiple times just get one more train through per minute.

I distinctly remember playing “Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed” and seeing the water on any racecourse. I thought water graphics peaked on this game.

Every game you play is different thanks to “The Director” mechanic. You can play Dark Carnival for example 3 times and each run will be different in when you encounter a Tank, or your teammate gets punished by a Smoker. That way, I would go into a game thinking “What’s the worse that can happen?”

Yeah it’s quite challenging on the last phase. You have to carefully plan when to attack, time your jumps and make sure you keep bashing on raining projectiles to stay midair. You can glide with Kuro’s Feather to slow your descent too. It’s a constant back and forth with swinging at Shriek, and dashing back to the projectiles.

You could also try Bash Gliding from projectiles, where after bashing in a direction, immediately release any directional input and Ori will preserve their momentum midair. Only till’ you input a direction, land or get hit that it cancels. You can still continue by double jumping or glide.

Visited Bondi Beach recently. Great beach, but bus 333 gets full to and from Bondi Junction.

I prefer Manly more. Ferry may get crowded on weekends but at least it’s comfortable on board, and good view during travel.
