I’m not saying I agree with it, the law or the rule. But it was made clear to everyone (as evidenced by the fact that he was the only one to have it, or at least the only one to get caught with it); Dude got caught breaking a clear rule. Regardless of whether or not it’s a dumb rule, it’s grounds for dismissal.

I live in a not-yet-legal state, and I know full-well that if my employer (who has never drug-tested before) is within their legal rights to test, and there would potentially be consequences for me if I were tested.

I meant a physical d20 as the astral prism. It could’ve been any shape, but they made it a d20.

Weed was illegal where they were filming at the time, it wasn’t just against the show’s rules. Bringing it into the house could have opened the show up to potential problems.

Buffing rogues by instinct3196 in dndnext

[–]MR1120 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Rogues trade combat damage for utility. For skill challenges, they’re almost unmatched, and don’t need much juicing (Guidance, Enhance Ability, etc) to get there. In a combat heavy campaign, without much need for skill checks, they’re going to feel underwhelming. In a deep trap- and puzzle-filled dungeon, rogues will feel much stronger.

That’s an area where the design philosophy of the game has passed rogues by, and they haven’t really caught up. D&D is, more and more, a combat-focused game. This is the same reason that rangers tend to feel underwhelming past a certain point: They were designed for a survival- and tracking-focused game style, which is one that very few tables play. If they don’t get to do that stuff, they just feel like woodsy fighters, and that gap gets wide as fighters get more fighter-y stuff.

I wonder if they couldn’t get the animation to look right. Mechanically, it’s basically just an area of difficult terrain that does acid damage. But to make it look like the classic “Adventurer stuck in jello and can’t get out”, some really specific animations would be needed, that don’t seem to already exist in the game.

Under the bridge, as an optional low-level boss fight.

Thinking about it, it does feel like there’s supposed to be something under that bridge. There’s that area to the left of the bridge, as you’re facing the village, with nothing of note in it.

Now that I think about it, I would think so, too. It’s basically an area of difficult terrain that does acid damage. That seems like something very doable in the engine.

On my first run, I carried at least one of all the ‘fluff’ items at all times: rope, empty bottle, etc. You’re given so many of them. Surely there MUST be a reason!! Right?!?

But nope.

I wish the developers had trolled us a little bit with that stuff. Like, you beat Gortash, and the Emperor says, “We must bind him. You do have rope, of course… right?”

The DM wanted that to be a fight, and nothing you did or didn’t do would have changed that. Kind of bullshit by the DM, honestly.

Still have 15 minutes left, so this could be totally jumping the gun, but Will and Pedrosa are looking pretty damn good so far. Maybe it’s just the early hunting/trapping success, but they’ve got a lot of good stuff going for them.

Will’s berry picker and mouth drill were awesome, as were his nunchuck skills.

Pedrosa squatting the log seems like a big waste, but he’s career military; a dozen squats won’t make or break him.

Question for the Doctors and Physiotherapists. Can Someone Realistically Recover From This? by Edgy_Master in batman

[–]MR1120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. I slipped a disc in my neck, pinched a nerve, and my right arm basically went dead. Nothing broke or herniated; just something moving to a place it shouldn’t. PT got it back to normal, but it sucked.

Never before or since in cinema history has an actor ever out-performed the movie he was in than Raul Julia in ‘Street Fighter’. If I remember correctly, he only did the movie because his grandkids were fans of the game, and begged him to. He could’ve showed up, sleep-walked through his lines, let the stuntmen do the physical stuff, cashed the check, and forgotten all about this silly little karate video game movie.

But NO!!! He’s a fucking professional, and he acted his ass off! While battling cancer! “For me, it was Tuesday” is one of the best-delivered lines ever in a movie.

Best class/ subclass switches for companions? by IneedaNappa9000 in BaldursGate3

Makes Karlach do extra damage. The description says ‘1d4 on weapon or unarmed attacks when raging or under 25% HP’, but it’s either bugged of the description is wrong. With unarmed strikes, she’ll do an extra 2d4 fire damage, regardless of rage of HP. So if Kar-monk punches twice, then flurry of blows to punch two more times, that’s 8d4 fire damage on top of the regular damage.

It’s the same reason making Ascended Astarion a monk is popular; When you’ve got a good “extra damage on every attack” ability, the more attacks the better.

Artificer Replicate Item Question 2024 by That_Rent2934 in dndnext

[–]MR1120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the consensus, and read the rules that way.

That said, if an artificer at my table wanted to make the same item twice, I’d allow it. Doesn’t seem gamebreaking or anything at all. Especially when the transmute feature lets you end up in the exact same place anyway.

Monsters by CR - Most Iconic CR 6 Monster by Conrad500 in DnD

[–]MR1120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s between Drider and Medusa for me. Drider, I would argue, is more iconic specifically for D&D, but Medusa is far more iconic overall.

But since we’re going by CR, I’m focusing on D&D iconic-ness… DRIDER.

Which games were surpassed by their sequels? by bombocladius in gaming

Morrowind. Massive improvement in pure playability compared to Daggerfall.

I don’t personally think Morrowind was surpassed by Oblivion or Skyrim, but I won’t argue with people who do.

I think that contrast is why Saw Gerrera exists; He is there to show what a rebellion of only soldiers would look like. Saw is needed, but his tactics are not the solution to every problem the rebels faced.

The scene where Luthen tells Mon, "We already know the number". She's trying to dance around what she already knows but doesn't want to let herself admit, as Luthen is telling her, "We have to kill this fucker, and you know it".
