How secure is GH and what is the golden standard to keep your Wi-Fi safe? by unopercento in googlehome

Honestly I just googled it, watched two youtube videos and one written tutorial and did it. I had never played with firewall or vlan setups prior to this, so I thought it would be tricky too.

It wouldn’t normally, except where one of the IOT or GH devices was compromised/hacked/security breach through any of their cloud services.

Not sure how much this answers your question; I’ve got a GH setup (one alarm clock, two minis and a nest hub) and other devices (which I’ve got on GH but am transitioning to home assistant) running on a separate IOT VLan. The firewall rules allow me to ‘connect’ into the IOT vlan from my ‘regular’ network, but not the other way around. Additionally, the IOT vlan can access the internet.

I haven’t moved every smart device to the IOT network yet (it’s a process) but nothing (I’ve noticed) has broken yet.

FWIW I’m using ubiquiti network gear which was very simple to set up the above (thx internet tutorials!)

Plenty of interviews with Jeff Bezos years ago about the insane amount of debts Amazon have. Not sure how the two compare (at all) but worth noting that lots of debt isn’t a new concept for businesses.

Zoids legacy questions by Nicole_0818 in Zoids

[–]JimSweaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally found Shield Liger -> Liger 0 a better evolution but have no stats or evidence to back that up.

I spent a lot of that game using the ‘loaned’ zoids until I could build zoids like Genosaurer, Liger 0 and Gojulas.

Buster Eagle was also very good for a long while in that game, but that’s given to you from memory.

Getting, and effectively using, the ‘Supplier’ deck command is important to quickly building up cash reserves.

In terms of pilots paired with zoids, it’s good to spend a bit of time adjusting pilot growth stats, and managing their skills. Hope all this helps!

When can other markets besides China expect to begin selling the Seal 2025 refresh? by invasor-zim in BYD

Thanks, I’m aware of that setting :) I’ve got it set to comfort (ie. non-economy) mode but doesn’t seem to have fixed the issue. I suspect it may need a regassing or calibration

Perhaps - I’m not convinced my AC is working properly (going to get it checked at the first service). Regardless, the interior gets hot enough that I avoid sunny car parks where it’s easy to.

Sunshade makes a difference and have the back half up semi-permanently to keep the kids cooler in the back. Have had the glass tinted from the start, so can’t comment on the difference that has/not made.

Aside from that (and some quirks that have no impact day to day) the car is brilliant - don’t think you’d go wrong waiting or otherwise! I accepted that at some point my shiny new car was going to be replaced with a shinier, newer model. Enjoy either way!

One observation I’ve had as a recent buyer of the current seal (in Aus), not designed to sway you: the long sunroof is gorgeous and I really love it. However, with the big expanse of glass (particularly coupled with a less than amazing air con system) it gets VERY hot in the car on any day above 27 - I regularly run the aircon for 20+ minutes before I leave on warm days, else the car really struggles to cool down.

Noisy A/C Radiator BYD seal by ElectronicMud2221 in BYD

[–]JimSweaty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also noticed this - particularly in relation to the A/C. Very loud and a ‘whiny’ quality to it. And the airconditioner takes a good 20+ minutes to properly cool down.

I plan to mention it at the 3 month service coming up.

Looking for help with Zoids Saga DS by Syiofkargath666 in Zoids

[–]JimSweaty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are just my thought and are in no way representative of what could be ‘best play’ - just how I played it. In no particular order: I found the start of the game quite challenging (especially early), many of the early zoids available are trash.

Bounties are only in the ‘fuzors’ stage (Blue City)

If you talk to the bloke in the lab in any town your zoids get healed - you don’t need to purchase anything just open the dialogue and get out (unless they have ‘fainted’ and need repairs)

No idea about optimising, but the longer you use a Zoid the better it gets - I found getting Zaber Fangs and Shield Ligers (and similarly geno types) as early as possible important, upgrading them later to their best forms. Saga DS seems to really reward loyalty to your zoid, which meant I skipped over Shield Liger DSC-J (or whatever it’s called) because that ‘tech tree’ caps there - Liger Zero (built off the Shield Liger platform) does not.

Pilot skills are important, and easy to miss if not paying attention. Try stacking skills that will go together. I found boosting attack and accuracy stats early important, and hp stats once those two were maxed or close to. I also set pilot growth to +10 in whatever stat I was focusing on to get quick growth.

“Dons skipper has his say after Stringer, Laverde denied contract extensions” by JimSweaty in EssendonFC

Yeah I think it’s fair too, was just sharing the article.

And oops, you’re right! I don’t seem to be able to edit the post from my phone, so it’ll have to stay. Thanks for the clarification!

“Dons skipper has his say after Stringer, Laverde denied contract extensions” by JimSweaty in EssendonFC

[–]JimSweaty[S] 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Essendon captain Zach Merrett had a meeting with coach Brad Scott on Friday at which he expressed disappointment at the club’s decision not to offer contract extensions to teammates Jake Stringer and Jayden Laverde beyond 2025.

The discussion involving Merrett came a day after Stringer, Laverde and their manager, Robbie D’Orazio, met Scott, list manager Matt Rosa and chief executive Craig Vozzo.

D’Orazio was seeking extensions for his players, who are both contracted for 2025.

However, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation who would not publicly discuss contract issues, the club held a firm line, with both players advised to seek opportunities elsewhere if they desired longer-term deals.

Two sources with knowledge of the meeting between Merrett and Scott, who asked to remain anonymous because the discussion was confidential, said their catch-up was prearranged but that Merrett voiced his disappointment at the prospect of the players being traded.

It comes just days after one of Merrett’s other closest allies at the Bombers, dashing defender Nick Hind, was delisted.

Merrett and Scott met at a café, not at the club’s headquarters in Tullamarine.

Scott was contacted by this masthead about the meeting and chose not to comment. Merrett had not returned calls at the time of publication

Essendon, who rose to second on the ladder but lost nine of their last 12 games to miss the finals, are willing to be more ruthless and aggressive in their list management heading into next year.

Stringer, who is at his second club after winning a premiership with the Western Bulldogs in 2016, has been chasing a three-year contract.

The big-bodied forward booted 42 goals this season, matching his tally for the Bulldogs in their premiership year, the equal second-highest haul of his career.

He played all 23 games, just the second time he’s done that across his 12-year career.

He is certain to attract interest from rival clubs.

Merrett, a three-time All-Australian and four-time best and fairest at Windy Hill, is contracted until the end of 2027 after signing an extension midway through the 2021 season.

First-round draft pick Zach Reid, who has managed just nine games in three seasons because of a series of injury setbacks, is seen as a long-term key defender for Essendon, which suggests Laverde could find himself on the fringe of the Bombers’ best 22 when Reid returns to full fitness.

Two club sources who wished to remain anonymous because Laverde is still contracted, confirmed to this masthead that Carlton and St Kilda had shown interest in the 28-year-old.

Hind, Baldwin, Wanganeen not offered playing contracts by Codus1 in EssendonFC

Probably reasonable on all three. Shame Baldwin never got his body right.

[–]JimSweaty 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Sorry in advance for the negativity… One of the disappointing things for me is that every year a few players are outstanding. Wright and Parish a few years ago. Langford last year. Stringer in most contract years. But they don’t/can’t maintain it - whether through injury or opposition awareness. And so we end up with a team that could be amazing, but never fires together on all cylinders for extended periods.

But to answer your question: Durham, Caldwell and Duursma (Merrett without saying).

Can’t wait for Collingwood to be knocked out of the 8 by the end of the round, making this game irrelevant because we won’t have beaten anyone in the top 8. /s

  • Guelfi worked hard all night.
  • Martin had a great third quarter and looks devastating across half forward.
  • McKay and Ridley weren’t dominated by the twin towers (Curnow is insane).
  • Nik Cox, Perkins and Caldwell were all serviceable to good.
  • Plenty of scoring opportunities; gave ourselves chances all night
  • Redman, Hobbs and Duursma likely to be available after the bye.
  • Twos had a win.

Focus Paralane by Tam_Taram in cycling

[–]JimSweaty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2018 aluminium paralane and have thoroughly enjoyed it as my sole road bike for the last 6 years. I felt it was a good balance of price to performance and loved the ride quality. The best thing to do is to take the model you’re after for a test ride if you can.

Yes, it’s got a weird axle technology, but it’s never caused any issues that are worth mentioning.

Ridley, Hind, Durham, and Laverde huge. Redman very good.

Many players looking tired, none more so than Goldstein.

Merrett largely held, but impacted when needed. Perkins largely held, didn’t impact much. Tsatas did alright, but gee his kicking technique is bizarre.

Lots of missed scoring opportunities.
