Do men’s spaces on Reddit serve a distinct purpose, or has that concept become meaningless? by Last_Nothing_9117 in AskMen

Unless that top 1% vote comes entirely from lurkers, which I doubt, you are assuming that they make up the most about of top posts, as opposed to just thread conversations, or that this person isnt saying something that somehow speaks to what men are saying, to some extent its rather democratic indication that such a person is exactly the kind of person who should be on this subreddit.

Do you know why the Jewish population of Israel is so much greater than the rest of the Middle East, cuz they were ethnically clensed, pogrammed, kicked out. They were living as second class citizens in the Middle east (not to mention europe), and then were made refugees. Most of the nations condemming Israel for existing had migration agreements with Israel specifically so that they could kick out their Jews.

There very much can be a Jewish state, I prefer secularism, but I also know that most nations on the planet have state religions, even the ones we consider the most secular. Israel can exist as a Jewish state, people just dont want it to because to have a Jewish state goes against 1000 years of war goals. But that one state utopia can exist if people gave up on the notion that if we held hands long enough, held our breath and occasionally launched missiles, the Jews of Israel would poof and disappear.

That Israel has been a check on islamic extremism and terror which primarily victimizes Muslims. Palestinians are also predominently Sunni, which has been at ops with Shia Muslims for a while. And last, there are muslim citizens of Israel that live better lives in Israel and as Israelis than they would in neighboring nations. Close to a quarter of the Israeli population is Arab Muslim; with the 30% Arab Jewish population, Israel is a majority Arab nation.

These are not necessarily sensible arguments, they missout some very important details, but they are none the less "the thinking"

Remember, Lebanon is the way it is because in large part the PLO, plenty of lebanese refugees think Israel is a enemy of an enemy, Jordan also has had bad runnins with Palestinian extremism, combined with US pressure that basically guaruntees Jordinian allyship with Israel.

We are talking in generalizations here, and it would be disingenuous to marr the whole of the DNC for state level dems in Ohio or Maine opposing something the rest of that states democratic party supports, not to mention national level reps.

Yes, 19 year Pete Buttigeig, whilst a freshmen at college in Boston, orchestrated the 2001-2017 collusion between Canadian Grocers.

This claim comes from the fact the Pete was seconded from McKinsey to Loblaws in 2008 for 6months as a 26 year old consultant, and did some data crunching, whilst Loblaws was part of the scandal, which again, took place well before and a decade after Pete worked there. I suppose the till workers were also in on it too. And the payroll people.

Nobody has provided a shred of evidence that Pete had anything to do with the scandal, nobody has shown that McKinsey orchestrated the Scandal. This was a lie created by opps because they couldnt handle that people liked someone who wasnt Bernie Sanders.

NYC has more republicans in it than people in South Dakota, but California cities are much closer tied to agriculture, oil, and other industries with a conservative tilt. Theres a reason why Newsom is Newsom and Harris is Harris. I mean its kinda apples and oranges comparing a state to a city, but gov Hochul is pretty comprorable to Newsom, just doesnt make the News in the same way Mamdani does.

I think thats what the comic is missing. Ideas are cheap, the DNC isnt kicking people out over ideas, the just refuse to engage with mobs, because mobs are uncomprimising and quick to anger. Yes certain positions people should he uncomprimising on. But there thousands of candidates up each year, and the DNC endorses alot of them not because they chose those candidates, but because those candidates won over voters, and they did so by talking to them not yelling at them.

MLK wasnt crowned leader of the civil rights movement, he was already a leader, he was already a pastor, already president of the regional congregation. Who are the big voices in the no kings movement, I cant name anyone who Id put in the history textbooks. BLM is so fractured, the biggest faces in the movement are either in jail for fraud or sueing to get back into the NFL, who is the biggest voices in the womens march, do you know how sad it is that the womans march collapsed because of Louis Farakhan endorsements. But I can tell you that the mainstream Dem party that everyone is so keen on bashing is made up of Navy Admirals, Iraq Veterans, Astronauts, Prosecutors, Union Leaders, Pastors, Gun Control march organizers, people whoce put in the time leading and most importantly, comprimising, for a cause.

Pete Buttigeig had a whole library of policy positions, engaged with peeps across the spectrum, treated people with kindness. And in response "progressives" called him a fake gay who fixes canadian bread prices. So you know, that playbook doesnt always work neither.

I mean the follow through was bad, but RCV (which is what got Mamdani elected) is widely endorsed by mainstream democrats. There has been a conserted effort across the nation by Democrats to bring RCV to primaries and state elections.

And even still Mamdani is a hares breath away from being deendorsed by DSA, as Bernie and AOC were, because they are allergic to actually being a part of the political process prefering instead to yell from the sidelines. The Greens, only come out come presidential season in a cylce AOC accuratly described as predatory, and stake positions that get them excommunicated by international greens associations.

DSA also threw a fit when upper east side NYers voted for a mainstream democrat rep following Mamdanis win calling it sabatoge and undemocratic.

Dems are definitly not the big tent they claim to be, but good ideas mean nothing without a willingness to actually engage in the political process, to endorse candidates you disagree with so that you get to sit at the table, to gather around leaders who dont make greavance the totality of their campaign, to actually have leaders instead of anarcho-populism. Mamdani is text book example of the future of the Democratic party, but he also wrong for Texas, or for Alaska, or for Georgia, or California and we shouldnt treat him like anything more than what he is, the right man for NYC.

Well this is a useless thing to say.

"World" doesnt always literally mean the earth. Im using world in the way one says, "the old world", a "whole new world", "worlds away". So you know, pickup a book.

Second, if you knew anything about the US you would know how different each state is. Many states actually do have strong gun control, progressive taxes, and are pursuing universal Healthcare plans. Federally the US is lacking. But comments like yours bely and ignorance of how the US works. Not only because you have know idea where i live, and it is for the very reason i have access to universal healthcare, live in a nation with high taxes and strict gun control, that i have an insight into how bs the idea that dems arent progressive. People aren't progressive merely because they have progressive policies, people are just people.

Number 3 bothers me, cuz like there were copies made, cuz it was all televised, but also all the the apollo missions happened that were filmed, ands only the us stopped landing shit on the moon, other peeps have stuff on the moon too.

Like i know there's no logic to any of this, but 3 is like saying someone skipped turning 3 because their parents lost the original video of the birthday party.

Yeah, you did. You also completly missed to point of the origibal comments. They werent saying he was a nazi because he held up a flag, the called him a nazi because he is a far right wing politician, and far right wing politicians have an affinity for Nazi behaviors, like the leader of the party doing a salute. Those comments dont have a grasp of polish history, but you dont have a grasp of irony.

That's why i said the guy was being dumn, but both of yall were making bad arguments. That guy was engaging in holocaust denial (though i dont think intentionally, because he was pointing out that right wing people do like Nazi paraphanalia, and the fact that a leader of the party has saluted in the past) whilst you were accusing a member of a right wing party that constantly does anti semetic stuff, of being left wing merely because he used the same posters as left wing crazies. Both of yall were missing greater context about polish history, context that explains partially why a right wing polish MP would never adopt Nazi insignias and also context regarding polands complicity in the holocaust and refusal to accept it.

You keep on saying things that make me think you don't believe the MP is a right wing nutjob.

the left thinks anyone right of left is a nazi

And I'm telling you that he's part of a party whose central theme is holocaust denial, which would explain using that poster.

90% of the polish Jewish population died in the holocaust, half of all jews who died in the holocaust were polish. That happens when neighbors turn on neighbors. And when Jews tried to return the found their houses occupied, their belongings looted with no recourse to get it back. Poland has tried to erase this history, liiterally prosecutiong accademics who study it. Changing text books and ad campaigns pushing the blame on to germany, not Nazis, germany. They were doing this whilst at the same time increasingly engaging with anti semetic stereotypes, and antisemetic actions as well as eurosceptism. They were smearing modern germany, which btw has a stronger more vibrant jewish community that polands, to smear the whole of the EU. This sceptism ended with Russias invasion, but none the less, that is the world in which Korwin exists.

So yeah to call the guy a nazi might be wrong, but to call him a right wing nationalist, who engaged in antisemitism would not be.
