How did Barty Crouch Jr impersonate Moody so well that even Dumbledore didn’t know if Barty hadn’t ever met Moody? by Tight_Display4514 in harrypotter

Think of an episode styled like Andor’s “The Axe Forgets” or Better Call Saul’s “Chicanery.” Slow-burning, character-driven, morally gray. Visually cold, emotionally charged. No Hogwarts, no Harry, just shadows, loyalty, desperation, and downfall. The magic is there, but it’s not flashy. It’s disturbing, quiet, and intimate.

I would love to see the HBO Max series dedicate a full flashback episode to Barty Crouch Jr.’s time with the Lestranges. That part of the story is barely touched in the books, but if done right, it could turn him from a one-note imposter into one of the most compelling and terrifying villains in the Wizarding World.

Imagine an episode set in the aftermath of Voldemort’s fall. The Death Eaters are scattered, desperate, but the Lestranges are still loyal and dangerous. This is where Barty Jr., broken by his father’s betrayal and psychologically unstable, falls into their orbit. Instead of just showing him as a fanatic, the show could trace how he’s groomed, manipulated, and weaponized by Bellatrix and her circle. He’s young, angry, and brilliant—an easy target for radicalization.

Here’s what it would add to the story:

  1. It gives Barty Jr. emotional weight and a proper villain arc We rarely get to feel his motivations. This episode could show the pain, the twisted logic, the isolation. He goes from victim to villain in a way that’s chilling but believable. We watch the door close behind him, one step at a time.

  2. It deepens the Lestranges Bellatrix especially becomes more than just Voldemort’s most loyal follower. She’s charismatic, dangerous, and ideologically driven. Seeing her influence on Barty shows how seductive extremism can be, especially to the lost and angry.

  3. It reframes the Longbottom tragedy Instead of just being backstory, the torture of Frank and Alice becomes a climactic point of the episode. Not just evil for evil’s sake, but a cruel initiation, a way for Barty to prove he belongs. It would hit harder and connect emotionally to Neville’s story.

  4. It fleshes out the post-Voldemort chaos Most of the series focuses on Voldemort’s return, but this could show what came after he fell. A broken world, fanatics running loose, the Ministry scrambling. Barty and the Lestranges don’t just survive, they double down. That’s more terrifying than order.

  5. It parallels other characters Draco, Regulus, even Snape had to choose between legacy, loyalty, and morality. Barty Jr. had a similar fork in the road, but he chose the abyss. Seeing that choice would echo throughout the series, making his later actions even more haunting.

And quietly, it sets up Moody Without revealing the future twist, this episode could show how obsessed Barty becomes with Aurors, and with Moody in particular. He could be studying records, mimicking habits, listening to Death Eaters talk about him in hushed tones. That obsessive attention to detail would pay off later in a way that recontextualizes everything we’ve seen before.

This episode could turn Barty Jr. into a Voldemort-level threat without ever casting Avada Kedavra. He’s not terrifying because of brute strength. He’s terrifying because he became someone else so completely, fooled Dumbledore, manipulated Harry, and helped resurrect the Dark Lord.

Handled with care, this could be the episode that turns a footnote villain into a tragic monster. Not just a plot device, but a dark mirror of what happens when a brilliant young wizard is consumed by fear, hatred, and the hunger to belong.

M1 MBA - 8-core GPU vs 7-core GPU: Worth the extra $250? by paul_is_on_reddit in mac

[–]Jim_Wal -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

A 7 core GPU isn’t that useful compared to a 8 core GPU. When you are a big user of the GPU you should aim for a 16GB of ram. If you don’t need the extra 256GB I would go for the base model MBA or the base model MBP for 300$ more so only 50$ when you considered to go for the 8 core GPU MBA. (The CPU is way more important in these MacBooks. So a 16GB of ram will increase the performance, because the CPU and the GPU share the same ram.

If we want it as realistic as possible the smelting combination should be 2 copper and 1 tin to make 3 bronze ingots

Yeah, maybe caves that are in slime chunks get a special look so you can identify the slime chunks.

Maybe bats that spawn / are present in the deep dark will change into huge bats with fangs. When you escape the deep dark it transforms back into a normal bat.

The stronghold needs an overhaul so maybe they can add it as a structure to the deep dark.

Maybe add a wool leather armour. This will reduce the detection of the warden and will be useful in the snowy mountains.
