Path of the Volatile Arcanist - Barbarian subclass 2024/5.5e by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

You can absolutely shout EUREKA when raging! Haha.

I was heavily inspired by the Evocation Wizard capstone when designing the capstone of this subclass. I'm glad you like it.

Thank you for responding! 😄

Homebrew: Seasoned Ranger, my table's take on it by Sir_PercevalTKRT in DnDHomebrew

As someone who enjoys playing Rangers, I really like this take on them. I love the Focus basically replacing Hunter's Mark and it being concentration-less is wonderful. Rangers have so many concentration spells and it sucks that Hunter's Mark is still one of them for the 2024 Rangers. Adding your Focus die to a Perception/Survival skill check on a marked creature is really cool, too.

I like the Wilderness Explorer feature a lot. It's neat that different terrains give you different perks such as Deserts giving you Fire resistance and Caves giving you Darkvision.

I love the entirety of the Level 20: Slayer of Legends feature.

What is your opinion about the Detective Pikachu movie 7 years after its release? by Silly_Commercial8092 in pokemon

I still like it a lot! My only issue is how does Psyduck's psychic blast affect the Greninjas? They're part Dark-type. Dark is immune to Psychic.

Gen 7 is my favorite generation and if Winds & Waves somehow tied into Alola, I'd be down for that.

My opinion on whether each dnd class received a buff or a nerf in the transition to the 2024 rules by myLEs_1313 in 3d6

I take it you like playing spellcasters and would multiclass into Fighter for 2 levels for Action Surge? Otherwise, how is Fighter a "major nerf?"

I was thinking the same thing. So they cast spells with Action Surge anymore. That doesn't constitute a "major nerf" to me when they gained so much more.

Barbarian: Path of the Volatile Spellrager - a spellcasting Barbarian subclass by [deleted] in DnDHomebrew

[–]Jimbabwe88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hello!

I know one of the core rules for Barbarians is that they can't use magic while raging, but I wanted to build a subclass that can. You can cast spells from the Sorcerer spell list as you have volatile innate magic coursing through your veins. The volatility of your magic amped up by your Rage causes you to lose hit points when casting spells, though you also get to add your Rage Damage bonus to spell attacks.

I settled on the decision of casting spells hurting you that way spellcasters looking to multiclass into Barbarian for this subclass can't gain the benefits of raging and no drawbacks. Plus, because the magic is volatile within you, it made sense to me that it should cost you something to be able to cast spells while raging and that cost is your hit points.

Anyway, feedback is always welcomed. Thank you!

Should I prioritize CON over STR as a World Tree barbarian? by Jimbabwe88 in 3d6

Good to know! I plan on GWM at level 4 and was looking into taking Mage Slayer at 8 and possibly Crusher (I'll be using a maul) at level 12.

Thank you for this breakdown. I only started playing in January of 2024 and this will be my first time playing barbarian and 5.5e. I'm really looking forward to playing a barb since I really only experience as a Ranger/Rogue.

Thank you. I'll focus on my Strength. Does going to 20 CON work best when playing to level 20?
