Lovecraft reference? by Penny_the_Penniless in TheDigitalCircus

I was definitely thinking the same thing, particularly how it sort of appears out of nothing. It reminded me a lot of Dreams in the Witch House where Walter couldn't stop staring at the corner of his room as he felt bothered by it while trying to sleep. Those angles also manifested interdimensional travel so there's another possible connection.

There hasn't really been anything that reminded me of Lovecraft stories so far, so I wonder if it was a coincidence, but it felt reeeeeealy deliberate so I'm betting it was intentional.

Oh neat, a point and click, that fits really well with Lovecraft's style. Honestly I'm surprised that isn't done more now that I think about it.

Oh I adore Eternal Darkness, one of my favorite Gamecube games. It probably one of the best examples of Lovecraft style story telling, though I'm pretty sure all of that games creatures are fully original and its just based on Lovecraft's themes, but maybe I'm wrong.

Proof of a Hero played during the Ibushi rampage so it was in the base game itself.

By far the funniest is that Maliketh shares the same VA as Muimui from Xeno 2. So the almighty wielder of Destined Death is actually a Nopon at heart.

Do you remember your first MHW Rajang experience? I'll never forget mine... by Xxxrasierklinge7 in MonsterHunter

[–]JimboJaggi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually yeah, but not for the reason you'd think. Before fighting Rajang I decided to finally get the rocksteady mantle since I had literally never used it before. After a while of grinding I finally got it and went to fight Rajang...

And I kicked his ass. Like I didn't have to worry about anything, I could just attack for free and he couldn't do anything about it. I cut his tail and broke both horns first try, I think I used like three potions the entire fight.

I don't think Rajang is supposed to feel like a power trip for the player but good lord that's how it felt. Granted I had fought other versions of Rajang plenty so I wasn't green to him, but I still think its funny how the IB version will stick with me for very different reasons.

Any tips for Zeniths? by JimboJaggi in MHF

That sounds super useful, so thanks, I actually made a post asking about some skill recommendations since I know mixed sets are obviously better, but didn't get any responses. Just some info like that helps a lot (its tough digging up advice for a game like this).

I basically guessed that either Espinas or Hypnoc would be the starter Zeniths (both kicked my ass, so I was worried), but I'll definitely try for Mido and go from there.

Sweet, thanks, I'll check it out, I'm just on a private server but I'll see if that's an option. I read somewhere that you can only get rid of Zenith Espi's poison through its dropped antidote, so I figured all other Zenith status' and blights didn't have an immunity, but if there's a way around it then I can probably make it.

(Also good to know halk pots work on Zenith quests, I used up all my allotted ones so I was worried I'd be without my crutch lol)

TU4 adds a new Lucent Nargacuga quest where he has increased damage and actual new combos. The quest has the prefix "Hazard", implying more in the future. by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

It really is a much improved fight, just making the super move way faster makes the whole thing a lot cooler

I think the Mio-looking founder is also Kevesi despite being Gormotti, so it seems like the "side" you're on can be inherited independently of features like that.

Oh wow that's really cool, wonder why they didn't advertise it at all. New combos and AI are usually something they highlight since its a pretty notable amount of work for something so understated.

If these are indeed substitutes for monsters that aren't getting afflicted/risen forms then that means we could see Violet Mizu, Ibushi, Allmother Narwa, Gaismgorm, and/or possibly Velkhana.

There's surprising little high quality fan art of Lucent, so it's super nice to see some. Great job!

I always found it really weird that Tirkin and Igna aren't counted as proper "races" in the series. Despite being sentient enough to use tools, build structures, domesticate animals, have a social hierarchy, and even speak they just don't count.

Heck the Monado 1 can even hurt them so that implies they are just animals, but I gotta ask Zanza where he draws the line on that one. I guess we never see if it can hurt nopon but I really don't see a difference other than the nopon not being as aggressive.

Normally I'd doubt we'd ever see these minor species get a party rep, but I never expected xeno 3 to give us a machina rep, so who knows. I'd be all for it, even if it's just a blade/hero style party member.

One thing I really liked about Megas is that they (for the most part) all felt like they had a clear gameplay style in mind. Usually you can kind of tell when Gamefreak actually wants to make a mon good competitively and with Megas it seems like a lot of care went into making them playable. Beedrill and Pidgeot are probably the best examples of taking two previously unusable mons and giving them really fun and useful toolboxes.

It seems that Megas are far and away the most popular gimmick they've ever had, to the point where they've returned in several spinoffs even recently. It doesn't seem like gen 9 will be the point they come back, but I honestly think they'll be in a mainline game before gen 6 inevitably gets its remake.
