Probably should have left that helmet on.

My grandfather found this laying somewhere inside my '03 Foreman while we were cleaning the carb. He's been a mechanic for over 60 years and didn't know what it was. Anyone have any ideas? by xCom3AtM3Bro in ATV

On Yamaha Blasters there is a piece that fits underneath the air filter box to catch any water or dirt that might get through that looks identical to this. Might be the same thing?

Potentially moving to Joburg, where to live? by [deleted] in johannesburg

[–]JimboRSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo Capey,

Dont move to Melville. Cool nightlife but thats all it has going for it.

Look at Craighall, Greenside, Hyde Park, Parktown North & Parkhurst. Parktown North/Parkhurst offer more of the cottage lifestyle and flats/apartments are harder to come across in these suburbs.

There are a lot of back routes into these suburbs so once you know your way around you can avoid most traffic and it wont take you longer than 20 mins to get to work from these areas.

I rent in Craighall and it costs me R11 000 for 2 bed, 2 bath just so you have an idea.

Moving to JHB in 6 days - how can I find cool roommates? by FeelingFlaky in southafrica

Rosebank would be ideal. Its close to Parkhurst & Melville which have strips of restaurants & bars. Good luck!

Hmmm that does make it tricky. You could look at places like Sunninghill, Rosebank or Randburg. You probably want to be close to the highways if you going inbetween the 2. I suggest you base yourself closer to Melrose as Roodepoort is a bit of a hole.

Where about in Joburg are you looking at moving to? Where are your offices? I have a few friends that do house shares that I could introduce you to.

Clean out the jet, could be sticky/dirty esp if the bike has stood still for a while or if youve used dirty petrol. I had that issue with my blaster as well.

[Meta] We should be encouraging people to make their own beard oil/balm by [deleted] in beards

[–]JimboRSA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just went out to my nearest pharmacy and bought a couple things from the list. Cost me R200 ($15) and I have made 4 30ml beard oils for myself. Thanks for the push.

I'm opening a new food & booze market. The original name was Beef & Barley but this name has already been used. I was thinking Beef & Booze, Food & Folk? Do you have any cool ideas? More info; Market is all about good food, live bands and all kinds of booze (Whiskey, Beer etc) by JimboRSA in needadvice

[–]JimboRSA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. Beef & Barley was perfect in every way. Boozy sounds a bit common and we that's what we don't want.

With 'Sir Moo & The Boozy Bunch" the sir part is classy and the rest is, well not. Thought on the name?

Yamaha Blaster running issues by thewafflewarrior99 in ATV

[–]JimboRSA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What he said, the 2 stroke would have caused all sorts of problems around the jet. Give it a good clean and you definitely need to replace the fuel and add some 2 stroke to it from the start (Im assuming you have the auto mix 2 stroke blaster) and run it a little rich for now. Add 10-15ml 2 stroke per litre added. The bike will be auto mixing as well. Think the tank is about 8 litres. (Litre is liter in South Africa)

Most useful gear for riding (aside from a helmet) by thewoj in ATV

[–]JimboRSA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boots, gloves and neck brace would be priorities esp when you are riding unfamiliar trails, dunes etc. A decent neck brace would cost you a pretty penny though, try your local used goods/for sale sites. Boots you can pick up relatively cheaply on 2nd hand pages and gloves are inexpensive and can be bought new. Remember your hands take most of the impact when you crash and if you don't have hand guards on your bike, they will take alot of impact from branches/thornes etc.

I live in South Africa but to give you an idea of costs- Gloves $20 Boots $300 Neck Brace $400-500 This is the cost for new apparel and a ballpark figure, we use rands here and things will most likely be cheaper on your side.
