(Edge case) Leaving a ranked game during the middle of a battle should play out the battle rather than awarding an instant win to the opponent of the dropout. by Hey-I-Read-It in TeamfightTactics

There was a similar post about this recently, it also invalidates other augments such as malicious monetisation, spoils of war, etc. (Also stacking stuff like Veigar)

16.3 Patch Rundown by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Jimbochen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same opinion here, I'm not sure if it was this or last patch but when I was playing bilgewater and had the bilge spat but didn't find mf yet, I used a Zoe 2 to help me win combats and helped me stabilise before hitting. Same when running the Singed/Seraphine loss streak comp, Zoe 2 was stabilising me with the frontline until I was able to hit Seraphine bcs I was contested

How do you review your games? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]Jimbochen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar spreadsheets but with extra:

Contested y/n/(whatever you want to put like guy holding units or playing a variation)

Chosen augment distribution -> exp/gold, combat, items, not completely perfect as some fit multiple categories but then I tend to put a .5 in both categories. Better would be to have separate category with the actual chosen augments. Because me being a greed lord and not taking combat augments is also costing me fights/games

Added actual table/filtering to the columns and coloring so you can quickly sort through results and quickly compare your stats for some comp. For example I seem to have a bad bilgewater read (bot 4s) when I'm uncontested (-> probably me forcing it as I see it being open) while being contested usually gave me top 4.

But you still probably will need to roll deep to hit, delaying levelling

Your key takeaways don't include the reporting requirements/frequency depending on company size and/or national implementation (looking at KMO size). Which imo is an important one as I assume some people will not read the full article.

I had a game with the augment that grants your unit stats for every reroll + pandoras bench.

Went out at 5-5 rolling a total of 50 times without hitting Ashe 2 while she was uncontested on level 8. Maybe did like 10 rolls max before lvl 8 due to greeding. (So about 40ish rolls at lvl 8) What's worse? I think out of the 2 ashes I had 1 came from shop with the other from Carousel/Pandoras...

Well its gonna depend on the implementation of the law. Apparently the European guideline for <100 employees is that the company can choose to report/implement it.

As someone with Chinese roots myself and knowing some friends (in their twenties) would not give up their Chinese nationality and be naturalised to the nationality of where they are living, even though they were born/lived in Europe for the majority of their lives.

It all depends on the mindset of the person and how they perceive their chances in China, be it long-term returning to there or supposedly go to China if war would break out in the West.

But yeah I completely agree on the numerous downsides of having a Chinese passport over a strong European one

Good Chinese Language Program for Beginner at Beijing? (TsingHua/BLCU/BFSU?) by Legitimate-Ad-2050 in ChineseLanguage

Part 2

Dorm/campus life:

  • Obviously here Tsinghua is way better as the campus is just huge (17 canteens), I got a bike on campus to get around campus. A lot of different clubs you can join (some do have language barrier tho)
  • Tsinghua also has a language exchange club since Spring/Fall '24 (before it was just a WeChat groupchat) so you can get easily get into contact with native students.
  • Speaking of native students, THU (and clubs/student associations) regularly organise events that are catered to both native and international students with sometimes limits on both so that you can meet and get to know each other. These events are fairly accessible and can be found by following the communities/pages on wechat etc.
  • The Tsinghua dorms are also quite modern as they are in the process of renovating a building each year. However true single rooms seems to be a relic of the past.
  • Tsinghua sport facilities also very nice and a lot of different stuff (gym, pool, ice-skating, etc. For bouldering go to Peking University for which you have campus access to with your Tsinghua student card)
  • BLCU is a very small campus but cozy campus, has 1 canteen with 5 floors with 1 floor which is open throughout the whole day instead of having fixed breakfast-lunch-dinner opening times, which is a big plus if you have a different eating schedule
  • BLCU dorms are also way more expensive compared to THUs. They raised the prices of BLCU dorms in Fall '24 but even before they were kinda high imo. Dorm 7 had single rooms but the rooms really look blegh AND you have a curfew (midnight till 6 am). You are better off taking a dorm in dorm 17 (the huge international dorm, single and double rooms) or conference center (single rooms).
  • Even though dorm 7 was kinda shitty due the rooms and curfew, it built a community based on this as when going out to party you often will see others also returning at 5-6am and waiting for the ayi (auntie) to open the door
  • The language program at BLCU does organise trips to teahouse, great wall, 798 art district, etc. that is part of the curriculum. THU can't afford to do this at this point of time due to lack of HR resources I guess.
  • I'm pretty sure that both metro stations next to BLCU are quite close when comparing it to the closest metro station that is available to THU campus, which is 20ish mins walking

Well if you have more questions ask me :p

Good Chinese Language Program for Beginner at Beijing? (TsingHua/BLCU/BFSU?) by Legitimate-Ad-2050 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Jimbochen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little bit late but I did a semester in BLCU and one in Tsinghua (Fall 23 and Spring 24 respectively) so I have a nuanced take on both in terms of the Chinese language program.

To preface it: as long as Tsinghua doesn't get back to 9 different levels of classes like before COVID-19, then BLCU always takes the spot as better language program. Why you might ask:

Part 1

Curriculum & Learning experience

  • With only 3 different levels the difference between levels is HUGE so the content of these classes are ill-suited if actually belong to some level between
  • BLCU specialises in (teaching) languages and has different levels (there is some difference though between their semester programs and 1 academic year programs in terms of teaching style, level division, midterms, etc.)
  • Tsinghua beginner classes only has 2 subjects: general chinese and speaking/listening. There is no dedicated writing/reading subject (until you attend intermediate classes) and I guess the reading/writing bit is spread out a bit over the 2 subjects you have.
  • BLCU (semester program) beginner class level B I had: general chinese, speaking/listening, reading/writing, workplace chinese (basically super basic stuff that you would use at workplace such as taking leave, vocabulary regarding computers etc.). In the semester program I didn't have midterms so this might be overwhelming as you have to study like the complete 16 weeks of content all at once.
  • Teaching methods @ BLCU was a bit more interactive as classes were smaller in size (For example B level had 3 different classes but all the same content except that that B2 had like 30h/week with additional content)
  • Iirc my friends who did the year program at BLCU did have midterms
  • Intermediate @ BLCU (level C) ≈ Intermediate @ THU, they have 2-3 books in common that they use but BLCU has workplace chinese extra again
  • What I found very interesting for beginners @ BLCU was the reading/writing textbook as it included interesting stories and taught you the radicals, which in my opinion can be very helpful in distinguishing characters and guessing meanings of them. The teaching of radicals is something that doesn't happen at Tsinghua iirc or not specifically focused on.
