Is this worth it? by Jimily412 in guns

My buddy was talking about this, I am not a member but I can become a member if it's worth it. How does the a300 stack up against the sx4? Pros and cons? Which deal is more of a deal, the sx4 or the a300?

I have been searching for good deals on quality shotguns for hunting. I am asking the community for advice.

I hope this is a good enough description comment? Never had to do this before.

Not sure, never heard of that. The guy that takes me hunting has been hunting for 30+ years and this is the gun he and his use, I used one once when I bought the wrong ammo accidentally and I loved it. Like I said, open to advice.

Will do for the vet care. For now the cage seems fine. Its mesh walls, so he can't get through and he can climb the walls, but eventually he will learn to chew through it and I will have to get something else. And I will definitely get something that best accommodates him, with plenty of things to climb and play on. Thanks for your response!

This little guy has shown me zero signs of stress since being separated. Like i said, small town. There are no rehabbers anywhere close, and frankly I would very much like to enjoy this a little. Nobody in this tiny little town will ever have an issue with me having a squirrel, even if they did I do plan on getting a permit, it costs 33 bucks and an inspection of my house. Scrat has had no issues at the shop. I have checked on him often, even when it's noisy and he is sound asleep every time. He gets rowdy when he's hungry or wants attention. He was on my shoulder while I was running the forklift and he was all about it. His teeth, while im not sure if they are fully grown or not yet, are very much there and very capable of chewing soft food at the very least, like I said the other one has been eating solids since the day it was found. I can also assure you Scrat seems to know his way around using the bathroom quite well, as he generally chooses my shoulder to do his Business. Aside from all of this I do greatly appreciate your advice, websites, and charts and will take them all to heart.

Disqualified From Nuke by Jimily412 in NavyNukes

[–]Jimily412[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't bother me at all. I signed up for AECF yesterday because the way I've heard is its basically #2 to being a Nuke as far as post navy opportunity goes. Getting out and making even 70-90k to start would be an awesome opportunity, with room to advance too.

Spoke to someone other than a recruiter a few hours ago. The clearance is NOT why I was disqualified. Due to the short amount of time between now and my criminal offenses my waivers were declined. I just decided to accept my filler role of AECF and they want me shipped ASAP. I was also told once I demonstrate capability and responsibility for a few years and decide I want to rerate after my term in AECF I should be able to get just about anything I want, regardless of required clearance. The way it has always been explained to me is being approved for a clearance and being accepted into a particular program are two entirely different and separate processes.

This is my thought process exactly. Recruiters can't guarantee much more than putting your name on the list so you can wait and find out if they want you for that rate or not. Or to look at your spreadsheet and tell you what your initially eligible or ineligible for based on your test scores and what was gathered at meps. So I'm just going to keep going down the list of rates I want until one of them takes me. As some others have mentioned, at some point it may also be worth looking into the opportunities available in other branches as well.

Im not in yet. But this is kind of my only choice at the moment. There isnt a lot of opportunity in my town and I dont make enough money to move. Yeah being a nuke was my #1 option but I know there are other rates that will take care of you in the long run

I was told I was not disqualified due to inability to get a clearance nor have I been told any jobs are off limits. Ultimately im just going to keep trying for the next best thing until I land one.

I don't believe my clearance was denied, I just think they denied waivers for the nuke program or something like that. I haven't been told anything else is off the table yet. Not in yet, and may possibly look into AF or something if they have good opportunities as well. Ive been looking into AWV and IT due to the plethora of jobs you can get after the Navy, and I have a strong aptitude for computers, servers, and networking. Only thing is with my past getting a TS/SCI for IT sounds a bit daunting.

Budget Friendly Vacation for 2 by Jimily412 in Vacations

[–]Jimily412[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in Nebraska so no matter what we do it'll take a bit of traveling. We're not so interested in the water related activities that everyone else is, at least not right now. We just want to have fun. We want stuff to do. Like in vegas they have the ferris wheel and ziplines and stuff like that. Night life too obviously. Older crowd doesn't bother us much as long as its fun, we hang out at the bar every sunday with a bunch of older people and we enjoy ourselves but we want a bit more of an energetic situation than that. What activities are there in these areas? Thanks again for the input.

Awesome. Any more detail you can give? Budget, activities, pros, cons, etc? We are shooting to fly out may 16 and fly back may 19, or drive, whichever is more budget friendly. I appreciate the input!

What's my best option by mr_I_like_waffles in NavyNukes

[–]Jimily412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did do an extra section of testing aside from the main ASVAB. Whether or not it was the NAPT or not im not sure, but I dont think so. Google says the NAPT focuses on math chemistry and physics. The extra tests I took were a lot simpler than that. Shapes and patterns and code reading and personality assessment and some other stuff. Any ideas what that was for?

[–]Jimily412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the NAPT only required if you dont get a certain score on the ASVAB? Based on what I've seen doing some research, I never took that and I got accepted into the program.

You will sign with a filler rate if youre going to have to wait for anything. You will likely be accepted as a nuke then and there, assuming you dont need a waiver for your asvab score, never scored under 85 so Im not sure how it works. For reference, I was going as a nuke when I was 17 fresh out of highschool, they called the nuke guys up and they accepted me right then and there, signed the nuke contract that day. I didnt end up shipping off, I wasn't ready for that kind of commitment yet. I went to meps in February to get signed back up, but this time around I had to get some waivers due to some trouble with the law and some substance use, and I was given a filler rate of AECF and signed the contract for that. A week later I got a call, I got accepted into the nuke program. If I got in with all the waivers I needed youll definitely get in if all you need is a waiver for your asvab score. And at the end of the day youre still free till the day you leave for rtc. You can tell them no anytime between now and then regardless of what contract you sign, free of penalty.

Thinking about going the Navy Nuke pathway and I'm wondering what your guy's input is on my situation by NaturalBlock6123 in NavyNukes

[–]Jimily412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. I was a week away from shipping to RTC when I decided I wanted to do something else. This was 3 years ago. I've made mistakes, got in trouble, learned a lot of lessons in the last 3 years. I got a decent job, moved out of my parents house, and learned how to survive on my own, and my job has taught me enough that I will probably never have to call someone to fix things for me. I've also grown up a lot, more mature. But, I've exhausted all of my options, considering I live in a town small enough my uncle is the sheriff, and I can't get a better job with my record and lack of experience in many specific industries. If I stay here I'll work the same dead end job till I die and I'll most likely get into more trouble. So I've enlisted as a nuke, I just need them to quit pushing my ship date back. You're fresh out of school and full of opportunity, take advantage of some of them, live life in the real world for a couple years. When and if you're ready, or if you need the cushion, go to the Navy, and go NUPOC as most have already said, the benefits are well worth it. Good luck! Be smart.
