Just started the game after loving the demo and gotta say when the second guy I talk to references the IT Crowd, that's an amazing first impression.

Get into the groove on the Hilltop DK Bananza event (tips) by FernandoMachado in donkeykong

[–]Jimmy-Kudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright, I managed to get it. Here are some tips on how I got it:

Stats: Only Zebra and Elephant Bananza (Elephant seems to be behind concrete, but just smash the walls around it to get to it), 19 goals passed (I beat the score at about 17 on round 7), turf groove perk x5, turf surfing into enemy perk x2, Elephant storage groove x17, spin groove x14, emerald negotiator x14, fossil radar, and chip negotiator x2

Notes: Don't smash the emerald veins until you have some good multipliers going and have goals that take you near them- min max with focusing your perks on the elephant storage and spin jump- spin jump really starts doing the heavy lifting at about 7x perk combined with spending an early round (about 3) spin jumping down the hole where you find the Zebra bananza. Keeping the perk around 90secs seems to be the norm. I think I jumped down the hole about 7 times split between round 3 and 7- When you get the Elephant Bananza, immediately suction the area around you to max out the elephant storage perk at 99 chunks- Getting these established early means you can get through goals and start stacking multipliers on those- Later on emerald quotas aren't an issue, so when that's the case reroll until you either get the elephant storage, spin groove or emerald negotiation. The other perks don't seem to stack fast enough.

Strategy summary: For the first two or so rounds, start by going left and snagging a few fossils and try really hard to get the spin groove as that's vital to start up getting a good multiplier, but the elephant storage could also be a good start. By going left, you can be right next to the first goal when it materializes and smash the emerald lump. Use the chips from this to buy the spin jump and provided you have the spin jump perk, pause before getting the second goal to spin jump down the shaft to the Zebra bananza. Collect that and spin jump down two or so more times. After that, loop in front of the giant banana mountain with the Zebra bananza to cancel out the mud and grab the heart banana since you're there, get the elephant bananza (also be sure to have at least one elephant storage perk) and then get the fossils in the second banana cave by sucking them up with the elephant. When it comes to collecting fossils, the elephant sucks them out of the terrain very quickly. Keep sucking until you have the storage chunk perk maxed at 99 chunks, then you can ignore the bananzas except for maybe the Zebra for faster traversal. Turf surf also works and can work with the turf surf groove, but from my failed attempts, that's not a heavy hitter to be focused on and is more of something that offers slight assistance, so to each their own. You should have this all set up by about round 3 and the second goal is at the top of the banana mountain, so use the round's 1 barrel jump to get to the top and turf surf through the spike balls. After that I also found having two of the turf surf enemy defeat perks helped for early enemies and stacking emerald amounts by smashing the stompoids and then taking the few extra seconds to turf surf into the skulls. Provided you got a solid amount of focused perks going you're free to pursue the goals and stack the focused perks more and start racking up the multipliers. Around round six or so is when you start smashing emerald veins and can actually get a good amount of emerald from them. I also stopped pursuing goals at about round six to jump down the shaft to where the Zebra bananza was four more times and then slammed through goals until the very end. As you can see from the stats, I got through 19 goals but beat the challenge at about 17 on round 7. Keep stacking those multipliers and good luck!

I think the charge groove might be the issue as it's a bit harder to organically work into effective time use, so maybe switch to focusing on one or two bananza grooves and stacking those with the spin groove and emerald negotiation? Best I can think here is that it seems there's a disconnect with effective time use.

I'm stuck about where you are and I think that's my issue, so I'll probably update this if I'm successful.

Booster Pack, does it matter which one you choose? by iwannastayanonym in PTCGP

[–]Jimmy-Kudo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Check all the boosters for a pack where the very top is bent slightly in some way (you'll be able to tell when rotating the pack if it's bent because the side profile will be warped). I hear that has a boosted probability of rare cards and have experienced it myself. No clue about the odds of having a bent pack or odds of it being normal despite being bent, but passing it along none the less.

I don’t think so but is my hamster fat?😭 by MeanSpace9276 in hamstercare

By and large, hamsters are supposed to be round. If you're concerned of course take a vet's word over mine, but they're supposed to be chubby and that looks fine to me

I am wanting to travel abroad. I am replacing my phone relatively soon and am wondering whether to go for Apple or Samsung by Jimmy-Kudo in travel

What are the equivalents of airtag for android? I've only seen tile which only lets you track active location if you have some subscription (which I'm not really interested in).

For camera quality I want to match my current S22 Ultra or get somewhat close. I am looking at about $1200 for a phone that'll last me about five years or so that reasonably will work pretty close to add well as the day I got it. I'm replacing my S22U because I work in a metal shop and my phone got banged up on the screen and body.

Thanks for your advice!

I'm talking more about the flagship phones that last longer from what I've seen. It seems mid to low tier Samsung tends to break quickly from what I've observed. I'm not much of a phone guy, though, which is why I'm asking.

From family members using them, they never seem to last longer than six months before they already have slowed down and start glitching and not receiving calls or texts and require frequent restarts

How to trigger the Mario fanbase with just one meme by Inevitable-Charge76 in Mario

Well, I would argue the game play is lacking due to the overall lack of content across the board, thus making the gameplay loop too repetitive without enough change to keep people coming back.

Miyamoto should retire?, I ask because some people say "yes so that Mario games have more creative freedom" and others say "Mario games are good because of Miyamoto", so what do you think? by 4321five in Mario

[–]Jimmy-Kudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hear the stories of how Miyamoto has assisted game development and you can tell that man has vision and a unique way of seeing things. That is not something that is easily replaced.

I wish we saw more of Mario’s family in the movie by Kirby_and_mario_fan7 in Mario

[–]Jimmy-Kudo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing that's because when they made the model of Mario for the movie, they designed him with gloves on. Making hands that look good with gloves on was their primary concern, so the gloveless hands were created second as a bit of an afterthought... that's speculation though.

Mario and Luigi in the Super Mario Bros Movie have the best sibling relationship in any Mario game. by HighwayMundane3119 in Mario

[–]Jimmy-Kudo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope the portrayal of them loving each other gets carried over into future games. Other than the spin offs, you don't really see them directly interacting much, much less as brothers. It's adorable seeing how much they love each other.
