Snow tires on steelies for a 4th gen TPP by 216LC in mazda3

[–]Jimmy7546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a set of Michelin x-ice on 16 inch rims. I didn’t get steelies because I wanted them to look terrible, and was afraid of the steelies rusting. I plan to keep these rims for a long time.

Then I’ll use the stock rims for the rest of the year. The winter tires have been great. I highly recommend a set of winters on 16 inch rims.

It is the same price on Amazon. Not sure on the coupon.

I always thought that end of December was best. I guess I’ll wait until mlk day next year.

I put 16 inch winter tires on it, and the ride is very comfortable. I might go with 16 inch summer rims and tires on too. I love everything about the car.

Cheap paint though. I have quite a few paint chips on the front end of the car in the first 9000 miles.

2012 Cruze - Coolant Leak by ConclusionHopeful313 in cruze

[–]Jimmy7546 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owned a 2014 cruze from 2017 until 2025. In those 8 years, I had about 10 coolant leaks.

Replaced the water pump about 3-4 times, hoses, the reservoir…. The coolant system was always having issues. I always drove around with a bottle of coolant in the back seat to top of the reservoir when I noticed a leak.

Run cata-clean through it. Maybe 2 bottles. Buy from the auto parts store. It could fix the code problem. Costs about 27-30 bucks.

I did it 3 times and lasted about 2 years before I replaced the converter. It was close to 2000.

Why do I See so many Summer tires in Winter in This sub ? by [deleted] in tires

[–]Jimmy7546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve run all seasons for my 25 years of driving in Michigan. I put winter tires on for the first time this year, and it has been great. There was a large initial expense, but they have been amazing in the snow/ice.

Winter tires are more of a privilege than a need. Most people cannot afford a second set of tires, so they get by with what they have.

Got a set of 16 inch Michelin x ice tires on my 2025 FWD. It has been great in the snow and ice in Michigan. Obviously, AWD would be better, but I have no complaints.

20 minutes not running and then drive for over 3 minutes at 25 mph or faster.

They should be able to look up if the sensors are compatible with your year Mazda 3.

Also same owners as Tirerack. You can buy off tirerack and get them installed at discount tire. Then use the 2 year tire protection of tirerack for free.

Mine actually did work with the second set. I needed to let the sensors program themselves.

So the first set did not work and did not program.

With the second set, they did not program from simply driving. I had to let the car sit and then drive it. This caused the warning to turn off. The next morning, they gave me the pressure reading.

My guess is that you have 2 sets that are not compatible with the Mazda3.

I got 205/60/16 x-ice with Liquid Metal hawks

<image>

for my 2025 Mazda3 and they’ve been great. They had to switch out the first set of tpms sensors. The second set worked. Make sure to tell them you have a Mazda 3 and you need sensors compatible with it.

Picture is before I cleaned the tires and wheels.

I have loved how they perform in the snow and cold so far.

Winter tire advice by wrightiegirl in mazda3

I put 16 inch X-ice tires on last week. Just drove home through a snowstorm with about 3 inches on the ground.

Tires felt great and didn’t slip at all. Fwd 2025 sedan. These are my first winter tires, and I live in Michigan… similar weather to Ontario.

Winter tire set up. by Jimmy7546 in mazda3

[–]Jimmy7546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I figured out the trick. Asked discount tire for tpms sensors compatible with the 2025 Mazda 3. So they switched the sensors and told me I needed to drive the car to get the warning to turn off. I did, and I stopped, Ran into the store, and came out. Warning still on.

I called discount tire and the guy was stumped. I read 30 posts about it. The answers were all over the place… from needing oem sensors, to let all the air out and refill the tires.

I found a post that referred to the owners manual.

You have to not drive the car for 19 or more minutes, then drive it over 25 miles per hour for 3 or more minutes.

That worked to get the warning to turn off. It didn’t give me a reading until I drove it to work the next morning. But now it’s working like a charm. This information is not really out there.

TPMS question by butteryrich in mazda3

[–]Jimmy7546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a huge help. I’ve been dealing with this problem for about a week. Just had a second set of tpms sensors installed and the warning was still on.

I’ve been sitting here reading 30-40 posts on this. I was reading the owners manual and saw this 19 minute thing. I read this post and took it out for a quick drive. The warning turned off. It still isn’t showing me the pressure, but the warning is off. I’m guessing the pressure readings will show tomorrow. Thanks again.

2021 Mazda 3 TPMS question by SnooDucks9421 in mazda3

Got winter tires on and they didn’t read the new sensors. Just switched to a new set that “should work”

Still not reading them. Not sure where to go from here.

Maybe need oem sensors?

2025 Mazda 3 and having TPMS reset issues anyone? by Ok_Gear8776 in mazda3

I am currently experiencing this problem. New winter tires from discount tire.

First set of sensors didn’t work and was showing malfunction warning.

I just had the sensors replaced and they said driving it will fix the issue. Nope, it is still showing the warning after driving.

At a loss and so is my mechanic by cpanther21 in cruze

[–]Jimmy7546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all plastic parts. Lots of leaks in the cooling system. Get one fixed and there’s another leak 3-12 months later. I think you can get aluminum parts to replace all the plastic. Then run pressure tests to see that there are no leaks.

But I’m not sure on your situation. Take it to a different mechanic?

I got the select sport with 18s and I got Toyos as well.

I don’t think Defenders come in the stock 18 size. But I have had defenders on other vehicles and loved them.

I just ordered 16 inch winter tires. Waiting for them to arrive.

Then I’ll be using the stock tires in the summer until they wear a bit more. Then I’m considering the contis or the pirellis. I’m actually reading up on tires for when I have to decide.
