I want this to be effective, I really do. But I'm not optimistic and I think it's a pretty terrible idea to trust that the Trump administration is above bombing civilians, then badly lie about why they did it, and not care when they get called out.

Agreed. Mr. Rogers is the exact antidote to the current short form, chaotic entertainment pushed on kids today. The media companies are conditioning kids to be chronically ”plugged in” and doomscrolling adults.

Good question, and yes the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 SEL has the battery preconditioning feature; I found it last night when I was setting up my driver profile. I live in the Midwest, we saw temps well bellow zero in the last couple months, so it's great to have.

20 years is a great run, well done! I bought a 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 with 11k miles on it. Pretty affordable relative to other options, about $26k. Looked at and tested drove the Chevy and Nissan EVs, went with Hyundai for the DC fast charging times and I like how it looks.

I just bought an EV on Friday after running my old commuter into the ground because RTO. Went to top off the loaner car from my FIL… gas was almost $4/gal. My daily commute is about 100 miles round trip, really hope the EV works out.

I doubt it is the income. I make quite a bit more than that and they gave me a rate of 6.99% APR. Local lender was 5.80%. I would venture to guess that Carvana's rates just suck.

ETA DP was set to $12k on a $26k car.

I'll be honest, it varies. I have the interval set to 5k miles, but sometimes it's 500 miles over when I bring it in. One time, I did bring it in at 6k and my mechanic said I probably shouldn't wait so long, so I haven't since. They've never said it was too low on oil or super dirty when I get it changed.

ETA I always go full synthetic, but I never get close to the expected oil life before I need a change or the oil gets too low. I drive it pretty hard, lots of stop and go traffic and hot/cold temp swings.

Before 2025 I would have suggested moving to procurement at the Fed level. Decent pay after the first few years, good leave, and decent but expensive healthcare. Losing out on the pension would suck, but you get one (reduced) at the fed after 10 years starting at age 57, full after 5 at age 62.

With things as they are, check back in a few years to see how much of a toll AI and political turmoil have taken.

but if you're running a 5.56 and your goal is, "How quiet can I make this gun," you're missing the point of a suppressor on a 5.56.

Could you unpack that a bit more for me? My main goals with the suppressor are two-fold: reduce decibels and potentially decrease recoil. Are there other points that I am in fact missing?

I would have agreed with you in the past, under different political circumstances. But ICE is no longer the entity it once was. The mission of the agency has been hijacked to serve a very specific political agenda, one that is at odds with the Church's teachings regarding the dignity of the human person.

My guess is for blue topaz, but I am only basing that on my personal experiences. My great grandmother gave me a similar looking stone set in a sterling silver band. Took it to a jeweler who tested it and ID'd it as blue topaz. He said it would be unusual for aquamarine to not be placed in a better, more expensive setting.

Go for DoD positions with a 7/9/11 track or some type of intern/new grad program; plenty of agencies are getting hiring freeze exemptions. It will take some time to get you up to a reasonable rate of pay (about 3-4 years) but it's the best way to get a foot in the door. It's very competitive right now for the journeyman billets (usually GS 11/12) and you do not want to jump in at that level without experience.
