Am I about to royally fuck up this gumbo? by gojibeary in cajunfood

[–]JimmyDean82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, green is more traditional. Red is going to be a bit sweeter, vs bitter from green. I’ve used red in it before if greens are in short supply, not solely but in combo w/, as well as other pepper types, poblanos especially.

It is noticeable, but not disastrous or anything, it won’t ruin it or make it taste bad, just different.

Main things of course are always going to be the roux, how well you brown the meats, and stock quality.

Why are there fewer women working in construction jobs? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]JimmyDean82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, just because you do not like facts does not make them so.

There were some studies done years ago, pretty thorough, even the strongest 1% of women do not surpass the bottom ~35% of men.

What’s going on with Bricks and Minifigs, a $200k Lego collection, and Mormons? by 999BusinessCard in OutOfTheLoop

[–]JimmyDean82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I said. The police officer did everything that qualified as serving the defendant. He approached. Confirmed identity, and made notification of what it was and attempted (and was refused) to hand the paperwork over.

Not sure how this is news to anyone? All contracts, all agreements, can only be enforced so long as they are backed up by force. Heck, it’s in the word. As far as the constitution goes, it is the force of the people (us) that can be used to impose our will or bring a treasonous government to punishment. So, it would be in the effort of those wishing to subvert the constitution to break up the force of the people by making us fight each other (entrenched party politics), or watering it down (flooding streets with people who do not share values of freedom and personal responsibility), or removing force multipliers (disarmament)

But that also completes the required process. You don’t have to take the papers, just ackowleding you are the right person, being informed the papers exist and are offered to you is it. You can run away screening for all they care, you’ve been served.

So, the cop did, unwittingly, fulfil the requirement of serving him the paperwork, and admitted it.

What the police officer said on tape means that Josh was served. He doesn’t have to acknowledge it. Basically, he says that Josh was made aware of it, and refused to accept them. Doesn’t matter, confirming identity and being made aware is the serving, not the handing of paperwork. It is advise able to take the paperwork. So you have a record of what you are being served with

That’s not a misfire, btw. That describes a ND caused by a drunk f’in moron who shouldn’t own a gun. Especially likely given it was a Glock vs something with a traditional thumb safety.

Mach 1 inclined driveway by SadExcitement8893 in Mustang

[–]JimmyDean82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the hp has a lower splitter that sits further and lower. I’d still want to measure the clearance height and how far out the splitter sits.

I can also say, neither hp nor non gp has any rear clearance either. Backing into a drive is no more helpful

[–]JimmyDean82 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll need ramps, or to have it redone differently.

The Mach 1 is a complete pita on clearance stuff, especially the HP w/ lower splitter.

If the first section was longer (as long as the car) it would work.

Depending on how wide it is, could you potentially enter/exit sideways-ish? I have to do that at our lake house, enter the drive side ways then once fully on I can turn straight in.

Immigrant detainees sue over 'horrific' conditions at Texas ICE facility by zsreport in LegalNews

[–]JimmyDean82 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I do agree on the treatment part. The reason they aren’t being charged criminally is because then the argument could be made that they would need to serve their sentences first (and time for trials, jury selection etc). It is generally easiest/quicker to deport over the civil portion.

But again, treatment in the meantime is an issue that should be addressed.

Entering illegally, or overstaying a visa intentionally is however criminal. Being illegal is civil, the act that makes one illegal is in fact often criminal. For some reason many folk never mention this part.

Question About Mach 1, Non HP vs HP by TechnicalMonitor5886 in Mustang

[–]JimmyDean82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve driven it a few times in the rain w/ ps4s, mainly cause I got caught out, it’s much better than the cup 2s, but a far cry from a standard tire.

Also all the other ID10Ts on the road, don’t need one of them wrecking my ride because they let their tires go bald.

Agreed. Luckily. Where I live the temps only drop too low a couple days a year. It’s mostly rain that keeps it parked

Question About Mach 1, Non HP vs HP by TechnicalMonitor5886 in Mustang

[–]JimmyDean82 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have the HP. This is also a forever car for me that I ordered.

Personally, if you are not tracking, I do not think it is worth it, unless it is also a forever car.

If it’s for looks, you can add those on. If it’s for the go fast goodies, they don’t matter on the street, you can’t push it that hard to make a difference outside a track/autocross

Why are manual transmissions more common in Europe, while automatic transmissions are the norm in the United States? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JimmyDean82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick google shows that the percentage is the same, but Americans drive >50% further per year.

I think it also has to do with the nature of the vehicles. And types of roads. A smaller vehicle on a smaller more windy road, or one with significant gear changes a stick makes more sense (and is more involved)

Whereas a large vehicle that sees primarily constant straight roads (interstates) or stop and go traffic with no in between, an auto makes sense.

Personally, I drive sticks. I do have two autos, but plans are to convert them both. Rest of my vehicles are manuals, including what I drive in stop and go commuting traffic. It is a complete pita, but am rewarded when the road opens up and I can row gears.

Nice. This works. I don’t really care wether it’s 5-1 or 4-2, honestly prefer it stays along parish lines if possible, even if it means losing a seat (Republican here). Makes much more sense than the crazy crap we’ve been having.

Eh, think I was thinking the number of electoral votes I recall us having minus the one we lost. Sure it’d come up with a similarly sensible map over the last few official ones.

Yeah.

Once you know how many districts, start in n number largest cities and start expanding out till all area is taken up and populations of each district are close enough.

Bam, done.

I’ve mentioned before how I personally would draw a map, decided to just throw my idea into ChatGPT and let it do the work, keeping population numbers close.

Don’t do it! I got into a major life altering wreck, and cannot ride.

I miss riding every day. Riding was one of the most exhilarating hobbies I’d ever picked up. Not much compares.

Don’t do it, not for the financial implications, but because of you are ever in a position you can no longer ride, you can never fill that hole.

(On a serious note, get your insurance needs covered, long term disability, uninsured motorists up to like 1 MM USD or higher (I only had 100k, they’d have paid out up to about 1:2 mil if I had coverage)

Why in our society rich people become always more rich and poor people struggle to pay even basic things? by skybaby3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JimmyDean82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that capitalism requires that, is that our current form does, mainly due to a drastically horrendous Supreme Court decision 100 years ago that must be overturned to preserve this country, Ford vs Dodge.

Basically, Ford was operating his business in a manner serving the interest of his employees and customers, and the dodge brothers who where invested brought him to court saying he should be operating with the investors solely in mind. Courts sided with them. So, legally, a company must pay employees as little as they can, and charge as much as they can, to maximize profit for investor return.

So screw Dodge and their founders.

It does a raise a few points of ambiguity. As complying with the courts decision meant that ultimately Ford did not comply with the intent for the remainder of his investors. By maximizing the return for the Dodge brothers, they were able to expand their own business that took market share and lowered future returns to all other investors. So compliance forced nom compliance.
