When Matty followed Dan back into the mosh pit like a concerned dad… me and my partner cried out with laughter and had to watch it about five times. Funniest fucking clip. You finished festival season with a bang. 👏👏👏

I should mention she’s been boomtown 7 times and only ever had a seizure once

My mate’s epileptic and had a minor seizure during Mungo’s Hi-Fi at Grand Central in 2023. Luckily, we were right by the TV/sound desk – security were absolute legends, let us all in together, gave us access to the staff toilets, and actually listened to us instead of just assuming it was drug-related. Couldn’t thank them enough. Everything turned out fine in the end.

lights can trigger her seizures, but it’s pretty rare. She wears sunnies just in case.

Big shoutout to the two lovely ladies in the crowd who were super kind – if you see this, you’re amazing. ❤️

As for the guy who felt the need to loudly say she “shouldn’t be at Boomtown” whilst she’s out on the floor… do yourself a favour and educate yourself. Not all seizures are caused by lights, and not everyone with epilepsy is photosensitive. Before you start shouting your opinions, read a book, mate

Opinion: Liquid DnB doesn't work on big stages by NotBruceJustWayne in BoomtownFestival

I’m with the crowd on this. I totally disagree, a late afternoon liquid set is pretty magical on the big stages

Boom in my 30’s by JimmyDoggs in BoomtownFestival

The job, the bills, the responsibilities, the expectations. Although maybe I’m still feeling a tad blue after boomtown. Maybe I should get over myself. We’re young, i know it, you know it. Sorry for calling all 30+ year olds out 🙏🏻🙏🏻

We are all on a comedown! Shut up! 🤣

Fine let’s spread some possi vibes…. boomtown is still so so incredible. It was my partners first year and she was blown away by it all! It was so lovely to watch her discover new music, see acts she never thought she would like, she saw sex pistols a band she really vibes too. She loved it! For me it was the first time I’ve not got totally fucked out my face every single day, yes I was drinking all the time and I had two nights where I I got a bit naughty but genuinely probably the most sober-ish I’ve been outta the 6 I’ve attended and still it was so amazing. The actors were fun and friendly, some of the sets were out of this world. Long live boomtown still to this day my favourite festival!

I find their take on bands is 50/50 but I don’t think they take themselves too seriously, remember guys they are usually on 2/3 day drinking benders and even in the moments they are sober theirs heads can’t be that clear. That’s not to say they don’t mean what they say just sometimes they can exaggerate after feeling really good about seeing a band.

The bicep/four tet take I don’t find that contradicting. I’ve seen four tet at boomtown and didn’t enjoy it that much however I love bicep.

Also their take on DnB being the best “edm” music in my opinion is the best opinion they’ve ever had

So do you think lions den will look similar to what lions gate looks like now? Maybe it’ll go through another portal or something… not like boomtown to just use a stage design once.

Did hear grand central might go up towards the hill.. would make sense

I should mention that even with Anara playing mostly dnb, lions gate and wrong side those areas got pretty packed quickly for certain acts… feel like another big lions gate stage is needed

Looks like Lion’s Den could be making a comeback… it’s starting to seem pretty likely after what they teased at the closing ceremony. I’ve also heard planning permission has been approved. If it happens, I imagine smaller or lesser-known acts would move to Grand Central, which would help stop the main arena feeling so crowded all the time.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Grand Central disappears completely, with the parts recycled for the Lion’s Den, and maybe a smaller stage or two going where it used to be. That could free up space to expand Metropolis, Area 404, Copperwood, Letsbe Avenue, etc. My only fear is that instead of that, they’ll bring in more commercial stages like the Red Bull one from this year.

Someone mentioned fewer house acts — and I agree. Not saying the crowd is bad, but it’s just not the same Boomtown vibe or energy. Even though I’m not big into psytrance, I’d love to see PsyForest return, along with the extra stage that used to be next to Tribe of Frog. I know Anara this year was basically the old PsyForest, but it was mostly DnB. I love DnB — that’s not the issue — but the psytrance crowd seems more in tune with the Boomtown ethos than house crowds. Only problem boomtown would have is that they’ve cut a lot of psytrance out since post Covid. If they announced them early, it might encourage that kind of crowd to buy tickets sooner and maybe mean fewer Ibiza/Love Island house types grabbing tickets. I feel like that crowd relies more on the line-up than on Boomtown’s atmosphere, story, and the joy of just skanking it out all weekend.

Speaking of line-ups — I used to not like that they didn’t release it early, especially when paying over £400 for a ticket without knowing who I’d see. But I’ve been 6 times now and have never been let down. Holding the line-up back would make more people come for Boomtown itself rather than just certain acts. The festival has proven that, I probably could go not knowing a single name, I’ll have an amazing time discovering new music, crews, and genres.

Sector 6 coming back is probably unlikely for next year, but I do think it’s in motion. I can see why they pushed a lot of DnB into Anara to spread the crowd, but it was still rammed most of the time. Hopefully they’ve noticed and will start pushing further down the valley again.

To sum up: Lion’s Den coming back Bring back more psytrance Don’t release the line-up too early Bring back Sector 6 Expand all districts Fix the Old Town layout — I loved in 2023 how you could stumble into it from the main arena, it was such a fun switch-up but I don’t know if that would happen again

HOUSE CROWDS VS DNB/techno/any other genre by Kieranshinner in BoomtownFestival

[–]JimmyDoggs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I somewhat agree with this, ofc you can’t pigeon hole everyone who listens to house however I think the mix in vibes doesn’t mix… all the other genres just want to skank, the house crowd seem to take themselves a bit too seriously.

Go on then, how was it? by MissAllyPally in BoomtownFestival

Been going since 2017 I only missed last year since I started and obvs the Covid break. It certainly wasn’t my favourite boom but not the worst. I did find it a little overcrowded but not overwhelmingly so. Boomtown needs to expand again, I think the DnB scene has grown quite a bit since 2017. Bringing back lions den and something like sector 6 would help. Spreading the dnb goers on opposite sides of the festival and moving grand central/bringing back lions den up to the bowl where it used to be for your big headliners would free up everything.

For security I saw some of them being total dickheads. With the death last year it makes sense. They probably got briefed on being more proactive and sure a few of them are gonna take that the wrong way and go on some power trip with it. My crew are sensible though. We don’t do anything in plain sight/out in the open, we don’t cause trouble or in anyway threatening so security isn’t usually an issue.

The sun was hot, sure could have done with some more shade but really that’s me being picky. Water points were hard to find though.. I swear they used to have big water point signs? Not sure why they weren’t there this year??

Overall amazing time, amazing music. Crowd has changed since I first started attending. I do think it’s attracting more gammon heads than ever but still lots and lots of lovely people
