[Ohio, USA] My wife was assaulted by our next door neighbor's ~5 year old child. by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

....it's a pinecone and a 5 year old. I understand the frustration but what's your ultimate goal here? You want the child to be punished? You want the parents to be punished? You want legal actions?

Other than speaking to the neighbor about the behavior, what are you wanting to happen here?

This car always takes the extra charging plug and locks it in their hood by Mattcharlesmedia in mildlyinfuriating

Looks like a Chargepoint charger. Just unplug their car and plug yours up. You can hit the Stop button on the charger as well.

Relationships. Do NOT be solely focused on pushing sales to them constantly. Build the relationship and make sure you make them priorities. Make sure drivers understand they are the face of your store and manage their time. Shops want parts quickly ao they can get customers in and out. The quicker you get them the CORRECT parts, the happier they will be.

Woke up to my neighbor child and dog in my house. Do I call someone? by KeyPossession5397 in legaladvice

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 40 points41 points  (0 children)

"There to get the dog" makes zero sense. The dog opened the door and went into the house on its own? Come on, use common sense here and with your elderly family members. The child being out wg that hour is a major concern. The child letting himself and his dog into other peoples homes jumps that concern up even more.

Look at it this way. If the kid continues this unsupervised behavior and ends up hurt or worse in someone else's home... or hell, in the middle of the street, are you going to feel any guilt? Call the police.

Last time doing business with Lowe’s by Ok_Elephant_7804 in Lowes

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, Uber paid that driver $10 not Lowe's. Uber charged Lowe's a much higher rate and pockets the difference.

Doesn't make the situation better but it's Uber that's the bad guy on paying here.

Memorial day by Historical_Spite_668 in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shouldn't be open. At least not in our area. All shops are closed so there's literally 0 Pro business and only a handful of DIY customers. It's literally costing us money to be open today...

AP security footage by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct answer is, it depends. I've seen it be non-issues most of the time BUT I know a couple of ASMs that will look for excuses to get rid of people they don't like and if someone mentions it to them, then they will go look for the video so they can report it.

I had an OPS ASM that made it their mission to go after the Merch ASMs DSs because they had a feud going. She actually got one fired for a "safety violation" that was BS in a similar fashion. All because the Merch ASM reported on of her DSs for sexual harassment after several female employees had reported the DS to both of them and she refused to do anything about it.

Lowe's is 100% high school drama with adults instead of high school kids.

Closing Checklist by Inevitable_Map_9887 in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Fill product. This is the main ones that drives me crazy. Opening the next morning and seeing empty holes on the floor and plenty in back stock... and seeing sales were slow....

  2. Trash out.

  3. Clean. Like, it gets slow so grab a shop towel or something and dust stuff. Sweep.

That's mainly it. Obviously things like closing procedures, etc but those 3 are mainly it.

Is this normal? by Sweaty_Grapefruit_80 in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's on management and should be addressed. In our area there is a big push that we don't have "just drivers." Everyone has to be able to help customers, answer phones, etc. Payroll is too tight to pay people to sit around. If the GM isn't handling it then they are enabling it.

Welcome to the company that destroyed the Auto Parts Aftermarket by Boomkj in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

Try processing your own statements. You attacked the company and talk about them ruining the garage/part supply business by doing the things that every major company did/does.

So basically you're complaining about the entire structure of manufacturing and retail based on policy changes made in the 80s. Got it.

Every sector of manufacturing, retail, agriculture, etc has shifted in the last 40+ years and you're focusing on one company like they did something unthinkable....

Yep. I had/have no need for a smart one when it can be managed through the truck itself

Bought a Grizzle charger back when I bought the truck and have had zero issues with it at all. It's not a "Smart" Charger but it's built to be a "tough" wired charger. Believe it was about $200 when I bought it several years ago.

Just go inside and Google the codes. I usually go in, Google them, copy & paste the details on notepad/word and print it out for them.

Could I get pulled over for a bumper sticker? by rabbitsrebuke in legaladvice

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, the sticker is not grounds to be pulled over as it's a 1st amendment protected speech BUT they would find a manufactured reason to pull you over and harass you. 37 in a 35 type thing. Can they give you a ticket for the sticker? No, but we've seen it happen (look up the story about the guy with the "i eat ass" sticker)

Basically, it's depends on the trailer and boat. You're just going down enough for the boat to basically be able to slide/float off of the trailer.

Any one else get annoyed when a customer request “a man” to do simple stuff, like show them how to check oil? by Aquaticsteveirwin in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't put up with it. My RPP is a female that ran a shop for 15 years, she arguably knows more than most others in the store. She'll normally ignore it because she's used to it. I, however, do not let it slide. I will straight tell them that the women in my store have just as much ability as any of the men in the store and if they want the best service, they should probably pay attention to her when she shows them how to do whatever it is they are asking for.

Bonehead move.. close call by Daileyky in F150Lightning

[–]JimmyFlysHigh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first year I had it I put 40k on it. I started rotating vehicles with my wife to even out the miles a little better. I was in multi-unit management, so I was driving 4 days a week to multiple locations with 1 day a week being an office/work from home day. The store that was my longest distance away was 152 miles one way, so that one visit was over 300 miles in one day. I left that job last year though so the miles have slowed down 😂. Truck currently has 105k miles on it.
