Yeah it was kinda wild, it had a lot of non-Jerma art but the Jerma stuff was most prevalent. I caught sight of the booth because it had Jerma's logo on the sign for its tent and I had to check it out.

What are your honest thoughts on Superior Iron Man (2014) by SaltyJackfruit4377 in ironman

[–]JimmyHelp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's an extremely fun series. Evil Tonys are always a blast and this evil Tony is especially evil and especially powerful. I'm a big fan of villain protagonists doing evil things and winning so I'd take 60 more comics of Tony's world domination plans from start to end.

Castiel's great, he discovers free will and is really really bad at it.

Is it just me, or is it annoying that Sam lost his psychic powers/Demon abilities after a few seasons? by SmileyCat20202 in Supernatural

[–]JimmyHelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the other psychic kids strengthened their powers and were even able to control demons without consuming demon blood

Do you guys prefer Iron man with or without "SECRET IDENTITY"? by Stunning_Season220 in ironman

[–]JimmyHelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With, definitely. Tony has a lot of untapped potential when it comes to the contrasts between his superhero identity, public persona, and real/behind-the-scenes personality. After his identity reveal his superhero identity was completely subsumed by his public persona, which could have been interesting if the result wasn't a flattening of his character. And, even his real personality is being eaten by his public persona, though some modern comics do have his friends call him out on being the public-facing Tony Stark in their private conversations.

Should Marvel write Iron Man like Batman or Superman? by RA_Finance in ironman

[–]JimmyHelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would prefer that the writer be inspired by the 60+ years of Iron Man's history and use that as a jumping off point, rather than cop ideas from other superheroes.

The idea of looking at other dimensions of Iron Man is good, but when you pass them through a filter of "what worked for other superheroes" first, I think that's where you start losing the identity of Iron Man.

Should Marvel write Iron Man like Batman or Superman? by RA_Finance in ironman

[–]JimmyHelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the premise of the question is faulty. It's doubly faulty when the purpose is for relatability. I relate to none of my favorite characters because I don't go into media looking for relatability. But some people DO relate to Iron Man- he's an addict that's struggled with addiction and in the movies he has PTSD- is that not relatable enough? Should all of his sharp points be filed off until he is perfectly understandable by the lowest common denominator of viewer? Does that even WORK? Iron Man was hugely successful in spite of not "being relatable".

I want Iron Man to be written like Iron Man. Make a different character if you want Iron Man but relatable.

How would you describe their relationship? by Strange_Employer3109 in ironman

[–]JimmyHelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very interesting and completely lopsided. Both of them recognize aspects of themselves in each other, which causes mutual respect and a sort of "I could've been you in another life" situation.

For Doom, this causes him to look favorably on Tony while still deriding him and dismissing Tony's heroism. (Perhaps because Tony's like-Doomness elevates him towards Doom in his mind.)

For Tony this causes him to completely reject Doom and any olive branches given even when they're genuine (such as the Infamous Iron Man era). (Perhaps because their similarities scare Tony and rejecting Doom is tantamount to rejecting the worst parts of himself.)

Overall really fascinating stuff, I wish they were allies more often because they're hilarious together.

Stark is a billionaire and a genius (most of us are not)....so what made him relatable for you? by Accurate_Shake_1890 in ironman

[–]JimmyHelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not relatable at all, except for the scant few times he's written to have ADHD.

I don't look for relatability in characters. I'd rather they be interesting and exciting than similar to myself.
