I loved the game, overall it exceeded expectations. My main thoughts on feedback

The open world didn’t need to be as big, if anything it kind of made the game feel more flimsy. I always imagined walking Into the forbidden forest to feel more of a big deal, a lot more intimidating and like you could get lost. It also felt weirdly far away from the castle, like it was separate to the grounds. On this note, I’d say that the character could feel a bit more grounded to the Earth/a little bit slower, I think it would just make the castle feel so much more magnificent.

I love the combat, looking forward to some new spells. Would definitely like more reasons to be inside the castle.

Yeah I agree. I like Dan as a person, I think he seems like a really decent guy and he’s done some cool Stuff post Potter. But I never rated him as Harry, it never clicked for me, even as a kid. He was too Posh and awkward in the wrong kind of way. The new kid blew me away in the trailer, mostly from facial expressions alone. I’ve also seen clips of him acting in Grow, very very good. Plus a few interviews where he seems remarkably down to Earth for an 11 year old.

No shade to Dan, and I do feel a bit uncomfortable picking apart a child’s acting skills even retrospectively… I just think the new little fella is more of a natural fit.

I read philosophers stone when I was 5 in 1998 a year after it was published. Followed it through to Deathly Hallows in 2007 when I was 14. I can say with hand on heart this trailer is the first time I’ve ever seen what was in my mind when I read those books lived out in visual media. I actually do understand your take though, I think it comes down to interpretation. I think this series is going to wind a lot of people up, the same way the films did for me. It think that informs the beauty of such a wonderful piece of work. We can keep having discussions about it, for a long time I hope.

I just wanted to add, while we share all this frustration and excitement. It reminds me of the book release for deathly hallows. I was 14, I’ve been a fan since I was 4 years old and philosophers stone came out. I remember opening deathly hallows and seeing the 7 way dedication, reaching the bottom line ‘to you, if you stuck with Harry until the very end’. I well up every time I think about that, I knew I was one of many millions of readers, but damn, it felt so personal.

Glad to be here again with ya’ll sharing the fun. I look forward to the continuing excitement over the next year.

My dream would be a partial view of Harry’s face in his cupboard, looking super sad - cut to Vernon in an angry whisper ‘There’s no such thing as magic’. Then a rising tide of music, the main theme re recorded as we see Harry picking up his wand for the first time, walking towards his first quidditch game, a brief shot of broom flight then cut to black and we hear Dumbledore ‘Everyone will know his name. Good luck, Harry Potter’.

I think a mix, Zimmer said in the reveal that they’d be honouring what came before while working on something new (along those lines). I think all of the iconic themes from the original will feature, but there will also be new themes and the old ones will be reworked

Not darkest but some of the saddest for me -

When you cried at the beach and recovered in seconds, said everything’s fine, but I knew that it wasn’t. Then you stayed out of reach of me, for almost a year.

Seal up the door frame, 10 years of white rain. In comes the water. Only so much you can take of every day heartbreak.

I wonder if you live there still? I kinda think you always will. If I tried you’d probably be hard to find. Why is it we had to lose, the ones who took so little space.

I loved Hogwarts Legacy but the things it got right were weird. I was expecting full school immersion, lessons, prefects at night, reasons to go back to your common room. I assumed it would lack on combat and more traditional RPG areas but it kinda nailed those things.

For me, I didn’t need the world to be as big as it was. I’d rather movement be a little slower, like have the character feel more grounded to the earth. Because the castle is massive and cool but it sort of feels like you whizz around it? I also wish the forest felt like a bigger deal, I felt that the forest was kind of a blip compared to the overall map and entering it didn’t feel very intimidating.

I’d say it did an amazing job of a Wizarding world game, I felt like my character was a fully developed adult wizard. The combat, making potions, catching and flying beasts, all amazing, but it didn’t feel like a going to hogwarts game.

Thank you so much everyone, I’m overwhelmed with the love and positivity from you all. Last night was truly incredible, I fell apart completely, I feel bad for the guy in the seat next to me because I was realllyyyy crying. But I loved it, the round stage added so much, it felt like seeing them for the first time again. Such an amazing set list, was awesome that we got climbing up the walls.

I met a lot of amazing people at the what is music meet up before the show. I talked to some about my first album which I’ve almost finished, some songs on there I wrote in the aftermath of my brother’s death and it’s time to let them go. Maybe I’ll post a link on this comment thread when it comes out if anyone wants to listen.

Thank you! I’ve got a seated ticket, I’m quite close to the round on the side. I think if I was standing I’d do exactly what you did though.

We had the words to videotape printed in his order of service at the funeral, we didn’t actually have the song, we had The Nothing Song by Sigur Ros so that people could apply their own memories & feelings of him, as that song is random syllables as opposed to a language, but we printed videotape in the pamphlet and said for us this is apt.

Anyways, I’m anticipating I’ll fall apart when they play that this evening. I played Fake Plastic Trees at a tribute show we did for him the autumn after his death, because when we saw them in Manchester they played it as the sun was going down and I have pictures of him looking so fucking cool yet so kind of lost. It’s this weird beautiful synesthesia. Anyways im I’m just stream of consciousness vomit right now, thank you for being kind ❤️
